  1. I was thinking along the lines of jerk chicken, rice and peas & ackee, that sort of thing, maybe some curried goat for later. Anyway, more beer.
  2. Ah! Sean, good to see you made it at last, have a beer mate.
  3. citizenED Wrote: Jah, you sure you been going in the EDT for > nigh on 25 years - you must have started very > young. Whisper this quietely Citizen...I'm 49. Also, re: the Drum, I go in there quite a lot as Dave, who runs it is a mate.
  4. It's always very sad when a pub has to finally call last orders and shut down. I was never a regular in the Oglander and it's certainly been a couple of years since I last went but I thoroughly enjoyed myself on each occasion that I went there and have very good memories of the place, good beer, good music, good food (jerk chicken and pork) and good vibes.
  5. Although being a strict carnivore I have to say even I'd pass on the black or white pudding.
  6. Storms through the doors after a good reccy of the island, Jamaican woodbine dangling from mouth, bottle of Jack Daniels in one hand, case full of classic reggae CDs in the other, puts on Doctor Alimantado's Best Dressed Chicken In Town, starts skanking and passes bottle to Citizen and reaches for Red Stripes from the fridge, "Come on man, let's get this party started.":)-D
  7. Batdog, I'll spell it out for you OK, MILF - Mother I'd Like To F**k
  8. I will but NTV. Although the Uplands is still one of my least favourite of the local boozers, it's pretty damned soulless inside. The outside seating area has improved a little, which helps if you're like me and enjoy a smoke. Also, they do a fabulous bottled Pear cider in there too but that I'm afraid is about it.
  9. Spot on as usual Sean. I may be getting on a bit but I never feel THAT old even if I do pop in there on Fri/Sat evening. Young at heart I suppose and hedonistic to the core. But also I love to pop into the Drum as maybe a starting point to an evening out and then maybe onto the Black Cherry for cocktails and I do have a soft spot for the EDT as I've been going in there on and off for the best part of 25 years. One thing about the CPT though is it is almost unique - apart from The Castle - in that it is one of the few remaining PROPER pubs left in East Dulwich and long may it stay that way.
  10. LOL! Couldn't agree more Brendan. The Upland Road cafe gets my vote though and I quite like the one opposite the Castle on Crystal Palace Road though not been there for a while and the one at the Plough is also very good.
  11. Opposite the Harvester/Grove Tavern by the traffic lights at the beginning of Dulwich Common.
  12. Dear Dulwich Mum, it would be a pleasure Ma'am.
  13. I'm liking the idea of a walk and drinkypoo too. Maybe we could all dress up as Ninjas.
  14. Yes, the woods are indeed beautiful and it seems hard to believe that you are in the middle of London as you make your way through them. It's a very pleasant walk up to the Woodhouse for a few pints of Special. I know them so well that I've even walked back through them on many occasions in the pitch dark on the way back again.
  15. When I was a kid we'd often walk through the tunnel, bit scary but definitely not a tube train in site. It's been bordered up for years now and is infested with rats and bats.
  16. Just a gag Sean. Glad it made you chuckle. I'd do anything for a laugh. Well...almost anything.
  17. Non-plussed.
  18. A non-competitive sports day? Surely this is some sort of oxymoron? It's ridiculous, that's what it is. Stuff and bloody nonsense. If I could just quote the Bonzo Dog Band here:- "Sport, sport masculine sport equips a young man for society yes sport turns out a jolly good sort it's an odd boy who doesn't like sport." How about a few rounds of non-competitive boxing? I feel a sketch coming on here. The Pugilistic Pacifist anyone? Damn! already been done by Spike Milligan.
  19. The last time I was there I had some dodgy oysters and was violently ill for the next 48 hours. Not surprisingly I have been rather fearful of going back there, although I did go to an 18th birthday party there last year and to be honest the food and service left a lot to be desired. I certainly wouldn't recommend it.
  20. Raw fish....Yuk!!!!
  21. Indeed, please don't let it happen again, I've had to do more than my usual fair share of work today and have missed my EDF fix....grrrr!
  22. Hmmm...don't believe everything you read. I've seen some footage and Lizzy definitely gets the hump and storms off in a huff. Anyway, sod the royals, burn the lot of 'em I say.
  23. Good grief! DM, I always had you down as an Agent Provocateur sort of girl.
  24. Not on here you haven't. About once a month you come in for a right royal bashing from some of our patrons.
  25. Hey I've got that on a picture disk, about the only thing I liked of theirs.
