  2. Bah! Indeed. Could try blagging our way in. Whaddya reckon?
  3. Why would they bother otherwise?

  6. I'm more of a recent convert due their range of very decent ales and very reasonable pricing. ?2.25 for a pint of Late Knights Morning Glory has me like a dog salivating at their doors at opening time.

  10. Yes Otta, plenty of charlatans around.

Take a look at the amount of fine ales they now serve in that fine hostelry, around nine pumps last time I counted, with different guest ales every week. The Ivy House is another superb venue for ales. Have you not been to the superb Beer Rebellion? Jeez! Most pubs have more choice of well kept ales than ever these days and you say you've had to resort to drinking lager! Pathetic.
  13. Before anybody asks I've decided to rule myself out of the Labour leadership contest.

Such ignorance is staggering. If it wasn't for CAMRA you wouldn't be drinking any good beer. Before CAMRA most ales were flat and keg was piss, hence lager became so popular throughout the 80s and 90s. Perhaps it is because you're too young to remember that. Now, a decent pint is taken for granted by people like yourself.

  17. Just about to finish Canal Dreams by Iain Banks then it'll be another Inspector Rebus novel by Ian Rankin, which are a series of crime thrillers that I love. Other recent reads were the Heroin Chronicles, some equally scary and wickedly funny short stories involving the poppy by an assortment of different writers, edited by Jerry Stahl, Viv Albertine's biography Clothes Music Boys, Tiger Woman (My story) by Betty May, and Fascination, another set of short stories by William Boyd.

For me they would be a welcome addition to East Dulwich. I particularly like the Moon & Stars on Penge High Street, which incidentally reminds of Lordship Lane before the gentrification.
  19. FFS! Go to the pub a drink. Enjoy a good slurp with yer mates. Bollocks to the food. It's not what I go to a pub for. If you want fine dining go to a fecking restaurant. Bar snacks like peanuts is fine. Some decent ales and whiskies and I'm happy as a sandboy. The rest of you wanting something to eat can feck off out of my pub.
  20. Damned shame. We've been been spoilt somewhat over the past twenty odd years or so and had some fantastic and memorable nights at The Hob and the EDT. Best of luck to Ron and Emma in whatever they choose to do and thanks for all the fun and enjoyment you've helped bring to us locals over the years.
  21. Corkscrew and bottle opener.
