  1. Good questions and helpful advice DaveR . If I can hijack Alice's thread ,I too would like a bike that is light .Not because I think it will make me go faster but simply to make life easier when I'm lifting it up stairs into a flat or manhandling onto a train . I'm what I think might be termed a leisure cyclist - 10 mile distances or shorter ,on roads . Comfort important ,ladies/step through bike . And I'm in my 60's and just over 5 '. And only want to spend ?5/600 .
  2. Critical Cycles Beaumont-7 Seven Speed Lady's Urban City Commuter Bike Critical Cycles Beaumont-7 Seven Speed Lady's Urban City Commuter Bike Unlike many other hybrid bike frames, the frame of Beaumont Urban City Commuter Bike is delicately hand-crafted, high-tensile strength steel. 25lbs apparently ,mixed reviews and I'm not sure where you'd buy it !

  4. Thanks for posting anchor - helpful info .
  5. Sounds like one of my worst nightmares ,did you manage to get in a bag ? Bravely whistling or singing ? All my sympathy DF .
  6. "To register for the service you have to order another garden bin when we already have one." I thought you kept the existing large brown bin and applied a sticker to it .Why would you need a new one ? Fed up about having to have a new bin for food .
  7. "Right, very interesting... I live in southwark but don't suffer from any infestation... ffs." What point are you making here carlafindle ?
  8. Interesting Telegraph article .If problem is resistance to chemicals and bed bugs being imported via rucksacs and luggage by holiday makers and gap year students then surely all wards would be affected .Why would maternity ward have infestation and not others ?
  9. James - if there are dropped kerbs that are redundant (eg wall built ) is there a mechanism for removing their dropped kerb designation ? So that they don't get included in the planned double yellow lines over ( and beyond ) them .
  10. James - is there a mechanism for removing with dropped curbs where they are no longer in use ? With a CPZ these are lumped in with active dropped curbs and yellow lines across and beyond them reduce parking spaces . See this thread /forum/read.php?5,2024596,page=1 for comments like these below Re: Parking ticket for parking across a dropped kerb Posted by Lynne April 28, 06:25PM There's an old dropped kerb in our street that now has a brick wall built across where the cars used to go.It seems unfair that anyone could be penalised for parking there. I'm not talking here about the council's recent access dropped kerbs, just old redundant ones. 11. Let us know how it goes . Doesn't sound trivial to me .I think they have Trading Standards officers for that kind of thing don't they ?
  12. MarkT not to trivialise your post in any way but I can't resist everybody knows that the boat is leaking ,everybody knows that the captain lied
  13. bit more here about what sounds like a nightmare for residents /forum/read.php?5,2014069
  14. cella - people have different views ,personally I think RH's robustness often becomes rudeness . I'm conscious that I'm leading this thread away from traffic management into a discussion about posting style .
  15. I don't have time at the moment to look again at the posts and consider whether I agree with RH's judgement of them as being hypocritical but .. Rendel ,like others I often enjoy your posts and appreciate your contributions but there are ways to point out perceived hypocrisy and keep the discussion/debate going in a constructive way .I think your comments are often sarcastic and rude , tend to distract from the main issues and to close conversations down .
  16. "It's so good of you to be so unselfishly concerned about others and not about your own ability to send nanny on the ratrun." "But then in your weird Passiflora-aggressive way you think anyone's rude if they disagree with your "let me drive whenever and wherever I want" outlook." I think comments like these are rude . They add nothing to a debate about Southwark's actions with regard to traffic management or pollution in general . IMO they detract from that debate .
  17. Thanks se22 .I'm going to have to talk to my son for help with Skype ...please tell me I can just talk on Skype and I don't have to do the whole being visible bit ? The person who recommended the firm ( via a friend ) said it was best to phone .Which I ignored and emailed .But no reply yet so thought I'd screw my courage to the sticking point and try phoning .
  18. Trying to phone lawyers in Montserrat and get a recorded message . It's not v distinct ( to my ear ) sounds like something along the lines of " you have reached Horizon ? Verizon ? unfortunately you do not have a business account " the message suggests contacting my service provider . Is my best bet to phone BT and ask for help ?
  19. Oh ,I'm so sorry .Glad he was taken to a vets and being taken care of .
  20. What a lot of exaggeration on both sides ,Champion Hill is neither narrow nor wide .Though if pushed I'd come down on the side of it being considerably wider than many streets in ED . The pavement on the East ( ? ) side of the part leading to DKH ,outside the estate , is narrow ,The pavement on the opposite side is a normal width . It's true that parked cars and traffic islands create pinch points but surely there are remedies other than closing the road - restricting parking for one .The road itself is wide enough to allow cars to pass eachother in opposite dorections .Which is certainly not the case on many streets in ED .
  21. another fan of the No Bull burgers here - Rendell have you tried the meatballs or sausages ? If so ...can you give a verdict ?
  22. I once ,during a stressful time ,parked my car then decided to repark round the corner . End of the day I completely forgot that I'd reparked . Reported to police ! Perhaps a similar lapse ?
  23. CPZ affect on shops in Lordship Lane aired on BBC London 8.18am https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_london
  24. savvygirl the online booking system can go overnight from "no appts available " to having bookable ones . I think appointment slots are released on a Friday morning - but I'm not sure ,there's a notice in the surgery somewhere explaining when appts are released .
