  1. Too many of our children are involved in mischief they either don't fathom or cannot get out of. I wish we had more police - they are stretched so thin. We all have a responsibility for our community so if you see something or are worried about someone do say so. Children don't always realise that the adults do actually care and they think they have to deal with everything on their own. I know of a little girl who carried a massive knife one day because she was being bullied and no one listened to her when she told the grown ups. It could have ended so differently to the way it did, thanks to watchful and very caring teachers (although could have been avoided). Thank the heavens that this particular incident was not a fatality, but it does not diminish the seriousness of the violence and it does not diminish our responsibility as a community to protect our young people.
  2. ED is very much London - it's not the suburbs by far. Sorry, but London rules tolerance.
  3. so - is it true?
  4. let's hope they leave more business cards and more people (like my other half) call them That WOULD be fun.
  5. That's brilliant - they will do a roaring trade. I can just imagine the mornings, 'Just popping out for a run, darling....." and secretly scoffing a bacon buttie on the way home.... seems to appeal more than a fly-egg infested slice of cold quiche
  6. THAT would be depressing. It feels a bit like it sometimes. BUT it is a city and there are people and people make noise and have parties and enjoy life.. and that's a good thing.
  7. Me too. I'll look forward to your 50th! Hope you had a great birthday :-) (are you sure OP is talking about you?)
  8. same rules would apply. Can you imagine the claims if items were not tested?
  9. Same. You're then covered in terms of time - you move smoothly from one to the other.
  10. So - who makes the money? If the park is facilitating such money making it would be only fair to take a cut from the revenue. It would be a cost of the event which the organizing company would be able to offset against income and reduce their tax liability.
  11. I loved those - rarely in teh freezer but felt like a winning day when they were. SodaStream - Intergalactic Space Juice (blue...blue tongue). Loved my grandad for being equally excited as me about that and the trips out to get new refills :-)
  12. we had an outdoor pool (at school) but it wasn't heated and if it's was officially summer, swimming was on. It was too much fun to be cold (or to expect it to be other than freezing). Maybe that's why I like the lido so much..... I don't remember having pasta, ever, when I was little.... Spaghetti shapes - YES
  13. no - but only because of the unsuitablility of the park.
  14. Findus crispy pancakes - oh my goodness - I wasn't allowed them at home but used to have them at my nanny's house. Other than that, we didn't have anything instant or processed that I can remember. Oh Bird's custard. Loved that! We were talking about this at work - my friend remembers boil in the bag things. We had a sandwich toaster - loved that too
  15. not very neighbourly to publicly try and shame someone for something you can't prove. I would think a better way would be to leave a polite note or have a chat (IKR!)
  16. sillywoman - you forgot the obvious coaches
  17. Does the Half Moon have live music? I'm a bit worried about telling everyone about the real best pub in London in case it loses it's specialness (which is mainly because it's such a secret and everyone who goes is authentic).
  18. Alan Medic - you are a rare breed - displaying tolerance, acceptance and being able to regulate temperature (keeping cool and not boiling mad). Can you please share with the forum so the masses can learn, adopt your skills and adapt to life in the urban jungle?
  19. Jeesus. EVERYbody has a right to an opinion without being belittled. Rooster and Edcam - shame on you for being bullies. Pitifully, you must have forgotten that this is a public forum.
  20. I would imagine it's because of Alley's record of total lack of consideration to it's local community, fee paying school or not
  21. RPC - the number of cars on the less polluting than summer BBQs?? I know where I'd rather have the scrutiny
