The licence is per household, not per person, so ?140 x 60 mill is incorrect. In our household two earners pay for the use of the TV by four people (plus any guests). More importantly to my mind, I don't watch that much TV so my payment of the licence allows your access to as much TV as you like. I'm happy to be helping you out.

The BBC is a unique entity. We should be mightily proud in the UK that we can sustain such an organisation. Value for money - you bet.

How exciting was that for a Saturday? 4.30 - 4.50 ManU drawing and Chelsea 4 - 0 up, and then Bolton coming back into it. And meanwhile at Wigan the mighty Arsenal hammering home their superiority....

Of the incident itself, it looks like a nasty piece of cowardly retribution. The officer is frustrated that the guy isn't getting out the way and takes action. It's telling that none of the other officers remonstrate with the perpetrator. -
