  1. But wasn't Strettle a revelation when he first came into the England set up? Before his poor body was crucified.
  2. I agree, a great post BN5. Been trying to put together some sort of retort to the waves of negativity over homeopathy/alternative therapies that we always get from the "ration/logical" camp when this issue gets debated but could not come up with something as convincing as yours.
  3. On a slightly tangential line, I think Alleyn's school is a beuatiful building and in that sense the school adds something in terms of architectural interest to the East Dulwich environment. There's a lovley photograph of the grounds and school on their website.
  4. If you ever do a spot of traffic watching, look out for the single male drivers. Count them and be shocked. Most of these guys could be on the bus. Basically we have got it the wrong way round regarding travel in the capital and elsewhere: on the bus and the train should be healthy single people: in the car should be families with young children, the infirm, disabled etc. ie those whose need to go door-to-door is greatest. The powers that be should incentivise the systems to allow such a change.
  5. Please don't succumb to the lure of "locking-down" Mr MM, sir. This is interesting stuff. Just to keep on track, I will reiterate that I will vote Labour next time round. Big question is, when voting in an election should you be voting for the party that you think will be better for you, or better fo rthe country as a whole? I always subscribe to the latter.
  6. Richard Bacon is talking about The Wire on Five Live in about 7 minutes. Tune in addicts. me, I'm still a Wire virgin. I'm saving it for my dotage.
  7. I will be voting Labour. I pretty much agree with what Huguenot says in his post. Can't be quite as lucid in my arguments as he but as far as I can see we are moving, in terms of social equality, in the right direction. A Conservative Govt will alter that. Labour have made poor decisions Labour but the Conservatives would have done the same - or worse. Voting in a general election is not like voting for a new management team, although it might seem like that at times. Its more fundamental. Its not a cosmetic thing like moving the furniture around. The principle is: vote for competition with the Tories or vote for cooperation with Labour.
  8. Can confirm, after reading bedtime story this evening, that one troll is down; the biggest billy goat did for him.
  9. Here's that corkscrew, dear heart. You look suitably stunning on what is your return to this quietest of Quiet Rooms. Pour me a large one, chuck. I'll stoke up the fire. Oh, and i never knew bats had eyelashes?
  10. "...I have measured my life in coffee spoons..." That ought to do it.
  11. Bowie wrote a song about me? Recognition at last!
  12. Mockney, and not just "elbow lifting" but also Elbow.
  13. Can't make it tonight - hope everyone has a good night. Herne was a great venue before. Trust they look after you guys as well as they did last time
  14. I was chatting to some guy in the pub who thought he was unusual in having a German micro pig as a pet. Then he found out that his neighbour had this rare breed called a "woofmarkthedog"....
  15. What, no Mild? Outrageous. I'll have that Directors while I wait, thanks. Oh, BBW, do you smoke rollies?
  16. Oh, Have I stumbled into the Quiet Room? I'll have a pint of Chesnut Mild please, HonB.
  17. Thanks Admin. Think it is important to reveal that. Wow. Can hardly believe that this humble little site could elicit such a acidic response. Wow.
  18. Couldn't agree more with Huguenot's post. Succinctly and powerfully put, sir. BTW I'm reading this thread with interest and don't agree that it ought to be wound up yet. Halal-Face obviously said something worthy of censure in the OP but all the same the question to be answered is whether or not this forum can be construed as racist in any way.
  19. Happy Birthday to OOF and Ronniemama, too. Can't help it RM, but I always read your name as Ronnie Mania. Perhaps I'm out of focus.;-)
  20. also.. - respecting posters anonymity by not using their real names if known
  21. Was another thrilling game, though. Both teams attacking, both teams going for the victory. A great spectacle.
  22. inundated by the Village People? gadzooks!
  23. The ability to spot sarcasm and irony is essential: elsewise you'll be hot under the collar thrice over. Don't post anything positive about alternative therapies: your aura will not thank you.
  24. Could there be a more forlorn photograph of a high street? So sad even Santa has had enough. I beg you, Louisa don't do it.
  25. Laudable response Will. Very thorough and should put this to bed. Can't help thinking it would be amusing if it were not the Palmerston. On here there was once a heartfelt negative critique of an evening at Le Moulin only for the poster to do some hasty backtracking once they realised that the place they'd eaten in was in fact Le Chardin.
