Really? The no 78 goes to Liverpool St and it is only a short walk from there. The 40 also goes to Aldgate which is quite close. no need for a car at all. Plus flowers on the bus makes everyone smile!
  2. Doves at 6am every day. I'm off to get an air rifle!
  3. Went today (Monday) with the better half for a long lunch. Bumped into TillyTrotter so clearly a forum hangout already! Shared starter of cold meats and crispy bread was very tasty. Bottle of Viognier was excellent and also available by the glass. We both ordered seafood linguine which was solid if not spectacular but perhaps a tad overpriced at ?15. Desserts of ice cream and frangelico and espresso were excellent. Service good but with a couple of teething problems (i.e. no credit cards as machine was broken and fire alarm going off during meal). Great coffee. All round a good neighbourhood Italian but perhaps not a destination which could work against it. Solid, tasty food but a touch overpriced - although not surprising given location. Will go back for cocktails at a later date.
  4. Server malfunction Brendan mate. Try copy and paste on the url. Weirdly, working fine on mine. Heads up: Jesse Ventura in Predator complete with mini-gun designed for helicopter gunship and camo fatigues. Just the thing for LL on a sunny Friday.
  5. Brendan, if I hadn't met you I'd be imagining you like this: Which is pretty cool, I think. Nip down to Target Arms, they'll sort you out. Just give the guy behind the desk the secret handshake....extend your left arm fully at a 90 degree angle to your body with palm facing down. Works every time!
  6. I walk to and from Pekham Rye station every day through the back roads in the "Bellenden area" and it's completely safe (for London - plase note). You'll get a bit more for your buck in SE15 than just off Lordship Lane (though not much more these days), the walk is pretty minimal, you have the Gowlett, Montpellier and Bar Story on your doorstep and Peckham Rye station is much better connected. If money is tight, the shops on Rye Lane have some of the best bargains around. I'd urge you to consider it. See me at the forum drinks if you want to know more.
  7. I live on Oakhurst Grove and have some white paint. If it's still there when I get home tonight I'll paint it over if no one objects. Otherwise Lizzy's right about the council. They're pretty good about this sort of thing.
  8. Which reminds me of this classic comedy sketch:
  9. You wouldn't be if you saw Brendan Burns at the EDT the other night! ...to death!! ...to death!! *sorry, off on a tangent there*
  10. There goes the headmaster....
  11. Very well. Will everyone please note all future discussion of swastikas (be it localised or international) must be accompanied by the disclaimer that you are fully aware of the history of fascism in Europe in the 20th century, and that any reference on your part to nazis must be seen in the modern neo-nazi context rather than implying you're an idiot who doesn't know his sieg-heil from his goose-step. Otherwise our resident history teacher gets uppity. Carry on.

If they called themselves the pink fluffy elf party it wouldn't make a jot of difference to their beliefs. Small in number they may be, but frankly 78 votes is 78 too many. But N19S aren't the only ones. The internet is riddled with these divs: Combat18 Redwatch Don't pretend they're not worth worrying about because the NSDAP got disbaned 50 years ago. And the ANL do a good job of bringing these loons to public attention (along with the Jewish Chronicle), so don't knock 'em.

  14. Associated Newspapers Ltd....to%^ers. And don't forget one of the freebies is theirs as well. May Paul Dacre, in the words of Johnny Cash, rot and burn in hell. Sorry. Spit-flecked rant over. Vote Ken.
  15. In stark contrast to Keef's (although I thought that was truely beautiful), some more war poetry. This time by Sassoon: Suicide in the Trenches I knew a simple soldier boy Who grinned at life in empty joy, Slept soundly through the lonesome dark, And whistled early with the lark. In winter trenches, cowed and glum, With crumps and lice and lack of rum, He put a bullet through his brain. No one spoke of him again. You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye Who cheer when soldier lads march by, Sneak home and pray you?ll never know The hell where youth and laughter go.
  16. Moos Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Mr Hannah, at the risk of being really irritating, > wouldn't you have to have been a teenager?! Err, I suppose so yes. That might seem a bit early I guess. Never been happier though. Edit: In retrospect it's probably not the 3rd biggest regret of my life EVER but I was stuck on two and three seemed "sweet". My new three is not having slept with hundreds of woman, just to redress the balance, like. ;-) Christ I hope 'er indoors isn't reading this!
  17. Meh, I couldn't decide if it was too nauseatingly "sweet" to put in - but it is true.
  18. 1) Not applying to drama school 2) Wasting too much of my time at university 3) Not meeting partner_of_david_carnell earlier
  19. Some other sunlight-deprived fella has done the 147 now. If I'd known it was that easy I might have entered. Got to feel gutted for the Rocket though. His prize money has just been halved.

Explanation? Read the ballot paper, then put an X in the box(es). It really isn't that hard. It certainly doesn't require some sort of nationwide educational campaign that would no doubt be accused of treating voters like idiots and wasting tax payers money.
  21. C**taquariums Glass fronted property retailers
  22. The GLA does work on a partly proportional basis i.e. the list system. You'll be asked to vote four times in total on Thurs. Mayor 1st choice Mayor 2nd choice Local candidate - individual London list - party only You could, if the mood took you, vote for four different political parties on each one. That'd f%&k MORI and YouGov right up!
  23. Ah, that'll be the Constitutional Club on the Grove. I'm in the process of joining the Peckham Liberal Club, which I imagine has similar rates without the photos of Thatcher and the Queen on the wall to put me off my game.
  24. I do love a bit of snook' every now and then and the Essex Exocet, Ronnie "The Rocket" O'Sullivan has reaffirmed my faith with one of the most awesome 147 maximums I've ever seen! And he did it to win the match. ?157,000 for about 8 mins work. Not bad, son, not bad at all. You can watch it again (and again) on BBC iplayer but no doubt it'll be on again this evening on BBC2. Anyone else a fan? Anyone else fancy a game? I haven't played for years but used to be alright. I'm better at American pool though if anyone know's a local venue for a knock-about on the green baize. Edited for appalling grammar, punctuation and spelling
