Hello

I was appaulled by service standards when I went into the new Foxtons on Lordship lane to be sitting there for 20mins, I made eye contact with everyone and they just looked away. I walked out in anger and thought I may get a better reception by a small independent who actually needs my custom. So I travelled down the high street and ended up in Osbourne Stewart who I have never really considered for letting my property. I was greated within 1 min of entering the premises by a smiley young man who offered me a seat and a cup of coffee, I felt at home!, I was asked my requirements and everything I was saying was being acknowledged not like some of the other agents like bushells who look in the other direction when you are speaking to them. i will be definatley using Osbourne-Stewart again as they have supplied me with a great service and a great tenant with very low fees to me and my tenant!

The above message has been posted from someone at the Osbourne Stewart offices. I do not usually make offences like these public but they have been warned thrice before about abusing the forum and I do not like it.
It's quite sad really, as said estate agent has a lot to lose at the existence of a big chain like Foxtons. I suspected that a few of the tiny agencies would be panicking, but anyway there are too many in L.ship Lane as it is.

LOL, classic! In one swift blow the idiot at OS has tarnished their own name and given Foxton's some free publicity.

I'm not saying I want Foxton's to wipe out the smaller operators, however if OS are going to attempt cheeky tricks and leverage the EDF user base to promote themselves then they should bloody well pay for it, just like Daisylets has.

I've never used an estate agent for anything, ever in my life, so have no idea why one is hated more than another.

Please enlighten me.

Why does everyone hate Foxtons?

Is it because they are a chain (I hate chains too) or is it something more than that?

Is there any chance that 'Mrs Hamilton' will return to explain her actions? Is s/he allowed to do that? It would be interesting to hear from another agent, as to exactly how much of a threat the Foxton's 0% offer is to other agents. It expires 21st December anyway, and since they are taking so long to process 'all' the properties on their books, most of those properties will likely be advertised post-Xmas, and thus have the 2.5% commission slapped upon 'em.

    • Quote "it was quite clear that it wanted to nip me." Doesn't say clearly that it tried to bite you , but instead implies that you had the impression, right or wrong that it wanted to nip you.  unless you are clear others will read it how you write it.  As for being a jobsworth, what a quaint old expression, haven't heard that for a long while.

The safest additional security measure is what's called a ghost immobiliser, which cannot be traced through the car's electronics, meaning it is difficult to bypass. They cost a bomb however.
