A cinema for ED?

Yes but Film is on the Up as a Leisure Activity. Most Cinemas closed in favour of Bingo . sadly.

Congrats Dulwich Fox! You've now managed 8 posts in this thread, all of which have rained on the OP's parade - even in the face of all the positive messages this thread contains.

I think a small cinema could be a go-er. I rarely go to the big chain cinemas these days, unless the small nicer ones aren't showing what I want. My current favourite is http://www.aubincinema.com/. It's only one screen, but is very comfortable, shows good films and not much more expensive than your average Vue/Odeon. Of course, there is a difference between being in Shoreditch and being in ED so maybe it wouldn't be viable here, but it would be great if it was thoroughly investigated by a potential investor.

put there money where their mouth is and make it happen...better than leaving it in the Bank...

I don't think it's a great idea and don't think ED could cope with the increased parking. I thought they were also planning a cinema in Crystal Palace. Certainly wouldn't need both.

I think it's a great idea, and something we would use a lot. You'll have to think carefully about ticket prices I suppose as it only costs a fiver for a ticket down the road at peckhamplex. As well as indie films, I'd like to see some good foreign films shown too.

Don't benchmark this plan against Peckham.

The price is only 50% lower there, as that is all of the film you will see & hear, above the mobile phone conversations & text notifications & the ensuing abuse when the above are politely challenged.

The place is a dump.

Set your sights against Brixton & Greenwich, nice welcome, bar, snacks, good choice of films, mainstream & Indie in a very pleasant viewing environment!

Apparently it become the HQ/church for some dodgy cult for a while, before it was eventually demolished.

I think if you set up a monthly 'unlimited' scheme, it could be a very successful cinema.

For instance members could pay ?20 a month or so to watch unlimited movies, just like Cineworld Unlimited.

Love the idea! Especially if evening viewing would be at 7.30 or 8pm rather than 6pm or 9pm as seems to be the way at mist mainstream cinemas and always puts me off as parent of young children dealing with bedtime and early starts!,
