MY EDF Cronies.. I don't have cronies. Most people here would probably agree with you.

The Problem is that there are very few actual 'Local Businesses' Businesses' owned by Local people in ED.

Most are outsiders coming to ED for the Rich Pickings.

Places like Franco Manca is not a Local Business. Its a chain...

It's not just a question of supporting Local Businesses. ?

Local Businesses should be supporting Local People by providing what the whole of the local community 'Needs'

and not what a small minority of the local community 'Wants'

Do you see the difference. ?

I'm praying that Late Knights Brewery take it over. Beer Rebellion in Gipsy Hill is easily my favourite bar right now. (There is another one at Queens Road, Peckham that I haven't been to yet) They have a superb selection of ales, burgers and finger food is a fiver a pop. If they were to take it over I'm sure they'd make a success of it.

There was some activity earlier in the week..

Just looked like they were clearing out all the junk and old furniture..

I'm sure we will all know as soon as something is planned..

Then another 9 months before anything is likely to open.

Not really bothered what happens to the place...

The problem is that in more recent times, past 4 - 5 years people did not frequent the place.

Each subsequent 're-furb' seemed to make the place less appealing.

The last attempt at re-inventing the place did not live up to expectations.

That's exactly the problem isn't it... a large, empty, uninviting space. At least some sort of chain would probably have the know-how and experience to make the place feel a bit more warm and welcoming.

    • In part, it’s largely down to people not actually caring about anyone or anything else apart from their own gratification (btw, there are better ways to get a dopamine fix)
    • I totally agree it just seems that it a thing nowadays.  It must be due to how fireworks are sold.

    • If it was limited to a couple of days a year, so we all knew, that would be fine. In the last few years (and it is a recent thing) you get random fireworks going off any time after dusk for half the year. It does more than cause problems for pets and wildlife- it can mean lasting damage and massive expense and hassle for pet owners. All because some get a buzz out of loud bangs.
