Phones are apparently back up and lots of tickets left according to Twitter. Only session that is booked out is the 5pm Sunday one.

I ended up on the phone for 20 minutes earlier today - so yes, try not to do it from a mobile

I can't believe anything has sold out. I'm a big fan of the cinema and a founding member but when I passed by this morning it was still a building site. They'll need to pass out hard hats with your 3D glasses unless there is a miracle between now and Friday!

It seems that this weekends opening will involve a protest on April 18th re. London living wage.

Looking ahead it might get a mention on this thread....so a reminder that if you want to vent more about it use this thread instead: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,1357998,page=9

Looking at it this morning, I can't help wondering whether the builders have cut corners a bit with the finish - bolts not screwed down properly, the paving leading up to the door looks like it's going to gather water. A 4 month overrun... I don't know who the contractors are, but I hope Picturehouse have got some snag fixing and overrun clauses agreed with them.
Just been to the press launch. It looks AMAZING. They're still finishing off bits and bobs, but it's a truly great addition to the Lane. Seats incredibly comfortable, and I can see over a tall person sitting in front of me. The bar area is lovely, and each screen has a different feel. Nice seats for two at the back. Hats off to the Picturehouse team, who've worked so hard. Very excited.
This is so exciting. I first started asking cinemas about comnig to East Dulwich five years ago. And we now finally have one. Orignally I thought it would be Bermondsey Shortwave who are afab. But even more delighted we now have 3 screens. Well done Picturehouse.

Albert seems to think it's OK:

    • Why did you feel the need to post that? Have you actually read the rest of the thread?
    • He lived in my road, so I bumped into him quite often, but I knew him as Mick, not Mike. We originally met at the opening of The Actress. Crikey, how long ago that seems now. He had a fox in his window 🤣 Not a real one, obviously. I only found out that he had died because I hadn't seen him around for a while,  so I mentioned it  on our road WhatsApp group, and someone on there told me. He had been ill for some time, but he was just in the middle of what must have been extremely expensive private  dental treatment (a lot of implants) so I assume his death was sadly unexpected.
    • Not in the same position but are you able to access the physical meter to take your own readings ? You could do this as frequently as you wanted to. I think TW are rolling out smart meters that don’t need to be physically read by them, and perhaps that’s what you have. I think that TW will only change your monthly direct debit once every 6 months, when you get the official statement.
    • Has anyone else had a water meter fitted in the last couple of years but is not being billed on the actual consumption as measured by the meter. I ask because after our meter was fitted 18 months ago, we could see the actual meter readings on our online account. This was helpful in terms of monitoring the consumption down to a day to day basis. However after about 6 months, the meter readings were no longer published online. I recall earlier advice from TW that  we would have a 12 month "trial" period after which we could opt to switch to metered consumption or stay on the rate based on the rateable value of our house.  As there's only two of us in the house, I reckon our actual consumption is well below the RV based consumption rate so with a bit of cynicism I reckon TW has deliberately discontinued publishing the meter reading.  Had the readings continued to be published, then we could have made an informed decision on whether or not to move to metered billing. Is anyone else in a similar position?
