citizenED
Makes you wish that instead of banning smoking in pubs they'd simply banned fighting in pubs...citizen Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/635-the-plough-pub/page/10/#findComment-26107 Share on other sites
biffy
they have got 2 bouncers on the door. well they did last night Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/635-the-plough-pub/page/10/#findComment-26240 Share on other sites
Brendan
I am trying to be an independent observer here. Isn?t putting bouncers on a door to ?keep undesirables out? a sure way to aggravate said undesirables and invite them to come around and make trouble? I know I would be a tad upset if my local put heavies on the door to keep me out because they didn?t like the way I dressed, spoke, acted etc. Although I do not tend to fight, behave obnoxiously and use drugs on a regular basis. Louisa
I've not had a fight in a pub since 1978, and that was in the Liberal Club in Bognor Regis. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/635-the-plough-pub/page/10/#findComment-26271 Share on other sites

jim_the_chin
why was this lounged? for length?any road up, i went in there last night and thought it was fab, having frequented the slightly menacing fog of the old one, the new version is great. i like the way it has used a range of furniture styles, it feels front roomy. they've thought about it rather than chucking half a dozen cows at new leather seating.not so sure about the short south african 'bouncer' on the door wearing denim. at least i presume thats what he was, unless he was citizened saying hello to everyone again. SeanMacGabhann
CitizenEd has an alibi for last nightThis was the first weekend at the new Plough - I've seen some of the old regulars struggle on the quieter weeknights so worried slightly about the first big weekend night Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/635-the-plough-pub/page/10/#findComment-26492 Share on other sites
citizenED
It couldn't have been me, Jim, I went in there and said hello to same be-denimed bouncer that you saw. He said hello back. (unless I was talking to a mirror)citizen.ps i too think it is a fab makeover Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/635-the-plough-pub/page/10/#findComment-26512 Share on other sites
georgia
Just been to The Plough - like the makeover very much. Will definitely be going again and I think it will be a good venue for our next EDF drinks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/635-the-plough-pub/page/10/#findComment-26619 Share on other sites
Bleep
I went on Friday for a few drinks. Horrific prices, but otherwise can't complain, especially outside. SeanMacGabhann
a de-Lounge? fair play...Re: prices.. a pint of Peroni costs 3.20 v 3.60 at The Bishop.. one could argue that that is not a bad comparison. Obviously compared to old Plough prices that is a big difference but really... do people think good lager costs the same as Fosters? Jah Lush
I popped in for a quick pint on Friday afternoon and have to say I was very impressed. The photo up in this thread doesn't do the makeover any justice at all and they've done an excellent job on the garden. Will deffo being going back, especially if they manage to keep out the previous thug element. Bleep
The change in clientele was pretty noticeable when I went. Nice bar staff too, if a bit slow. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/635-the-plough-pub/page/10/#findComment-26683 Share on other sites

georgia
So guys - would we agree that The Plough is a suitable venue for our next EDF drinks? Unless everyone thinks not, then we will go with it... Polly D
Yep - reckon so Georgia. We popped in over the weekend. It's huge so reckon there's room for all types (can't be bothered to get into the class thing). As Sean M says, great selection of beers (although a locally-living colleague I bumped into said he and his mate had chosen different ales but had ended up with the same one cos the pumps were wired to the same barrel - apparently). V friendly staff and really nice to have a place withing happy walking distance. Keep it real Upper East Side possee ... ahem ...
