Um, sorry to drag it back to the question of separatism etc, but. Saturday is a good idea as then those with kids can do the afternoon, those without (or a babysitter) can do evening and some hardcore people can do both. Why does it have to be a Friday night?

Personally I would prefer all the drinks to be on a Saturday night rather than a Friday but I'm not going to suggest they are changed as I only show up to the odd one anyway.

I don't think it's so exceptionally bad to have 3/4 months of drinks on a Saturday night is it?

we could have some on a Friday eve and some on a Saturday afternoon and evenings

could vary them or alternate them

or do Saturdays for Summer and Friday eves for other less 'outdoor' month...

or even do Sunday lunch time occasionally

anything is possible, but I guess it is down to Georgia as she's the one who puts all the effort in, fixes them up and chooses the location

I'm just delighted with the idea full stop, and grateful to Georgia who sorts it all out for us!

The idea was to have Saturdays during the Summer at venues with beer gardens. Thus allowing people to enjoy the glorious summer afternoons with their children and get horribly drunk.

What time is it going to start and will people pace themselves and stay on in the evening?

"Thus allowing people to enjoy the glorious summer afternoons with their children and get horribly drunk."

Should there be a then inserted somewhere in that sentence, dear Michael?

If so, then I agree with the idea in theory, only it didn't quite pan out like that at the Herne and, though I cannot vouch for others, it won't be happening like that at the Rye with me since I am now unavailable for the afternoon slot because an event that I had assumed was an evening do actually transpires to be in the afternoon and so instead of attending the Forum drinks with my family in the day I will be at said event and will now be coming to the drinks in the evening as I had initially not expected to; so could get horribly drunk sans offspring. Voila

    • When I had a property with a basement there would often be a pool of water in the centre. I was told it was related to the fluctuating height of the water table in the area (se22) and would not become a problem and the only way to get rid of it would be to get the whole place completely tanked.
    • We've got a Victorian coal hole cellar with a mud floor and after a couple of severe water leaks, I've taken more of an interest in the state of the dampness.  I've been running a dehumidifier for the past couple of weeks following a small water pipe leak and whilst most of the floor is now bone dry, there are damp patches along most of the wall adjoining the next house, a large damp patch in the middle of the floor that will not dry even with the dehumidifier right next to it and a patch of wet mud in a small hollow in the middle of the cellar.  An expert that lent us industrial drying equipment following a flood from a burst mains pipe said there will always be damp, but I'm a bit concerned in case there is a fundamental problem - any ideas from anyone with similar?
