No I didn't. The Capitol is where all the cool paupers hang out. They have no problem serving you if you're so drunk you can't swallow your drink properly.

You can also get away with smoking puff round the back. The place is a dive, but it's mine and everyone else in Fozzy Hill's dive.

That's why I grew a beard

that is a very good question Tolly - it's a tradition at the your first drinks to wander over to the landlord give him your credit card and shout, "drinks on the house all night gov'ner", then you will be quickly encircled and welcomed to the magic circle of the edf drinks

I had forgotten this, but yes this is the secret question and response for all new people. Invented when the world was young.

Nah...just join in...I went to my first EDF drinks in August (couldn't make Sept.), and, although I went with a friend and a very chivalrous chaperon, the people we met were very pleasant and made us feel most welcome.

Incidentally, another forumite once told me that you actually don't lose your virginity until you've been to the Curry outing! So, there you go!

Anyway, look forward to meeting you tomorrow - and big fat WELCOME.

    • I went in here the other day. The fruit is all really good - ripe and fresh. They also sell good bread (and croissants and pastries) from a independent bakery, the name of which I've forgotten. 🤦 The prices (which are marked) are not cheap but they are fair imo. Comparable to the specialist fruit shop on Lordship Lane (Brothers?) for really good quality. It's similar prices to Simply Fresh - but Simply Fresh's fruit and veg is very poor. Beaten about and tasteless. Sainsbury's is certainly cheaper. IMVHO they're a good addition to the Dulwich Village "retail offer".
    • Went actually for the first time yesterday. Terrific food, so was well pleased. Agree with previous poster to support.
    • Hi!! Moving house soon so looking for some cardboard boxes. Anyone know of any shops or cafes that may be giving some away?
