ha ha...yes...I don't have a lot of that, I must say...oh well...

Oh, and while I'm here (sorry Admin.)...but...(*laughs*)...please could you tell me why three of my threads were recently removed from the wanted section? I am not too bothered as they were removed after lots of lovely forumites had come to the rescue with their suggestions etc. However, it would have been nice if the threads had remained merely because they contained final messages of thanks to all the forumites who had taken time to respond. Now I don't know whether they caught them in time, but if they didn't, they must think me an ungrateful old cow!

If titles in that section say things like "now sold" or "no longer required" or similar then they are removed, it just clears the space to be used by live and valid wanted items rather than expired ones. I believe yours said "NOW SORTED" so it was taken off, sorry if it caused an issue.

I've noticed myself and LM are still having issues with the word association thread...

Other threads I've added to sometimes do the same but I can't think which ones they are now :-s

It is probably the same as the old football focus threads, which just get so big, they stop working. Start a new one (if you must).

messageRe: Ask Admin
Posted by Administrator 22 December, 2009 12:49

Keef speaks the truth, it is probably a case of starting a new one if it is not working properly as there is nothing we can do behind the scenes. If you do start a new one then the old one will be locked down because the annoyance of having more than one word association thread would be too much to bear.

Go on KK...start a new one...it's your creation so it should be you who starts the new one...I'm addicted, by the way!

LM my dearest you do realise that I'm much disliked for starting such a thread embarrased smiley

Admin is there enough of the "fun and games" (and totally pointless threads) feeling in the lounge to consider a games room now?

This is great - I have just realised that I can speak to Admin here anytime I want (and not just when I'm being told off).

Think of it as your own personal hotline to the top Mick Mac, except that other people can use it as well.

No, KK I don't realise that at all. You know, (ahem...and I speak with experience here) you are never going to be able to please all of the people all of the time. Your WA thread pleases most of the people most of the time...and I think you are just going to have to accept that. Personally, I think your thread is a huge success...hence the loading/display problems which, ironically, are symptoms of that success. Admin have indicated that you may start a new thread:

"...it is probably a case of starting a new one if it is not working properly as there is nothing we can do behind the scenes..."

so go for it..."Word Association Thread Part 2". As I said before, it's your fabulous creation...no one else should do it.

*places tongue firmly in cheek*
Mick Mac: I cannot possibly imagine you getting "told off"! Never! *big grin*

Hi there

I was wondering what happened to my response to the estate agents recommendation thread? I recommended truepennys and my post appears to be deleted, is there a reason for this?!

I can't see any that have been 'deleted' by admin on that thread.

Three possibilities spring to mind, one of the admins accidentally hit the 'delete' button (we don't ever do that as a rule we just make them invisible to mortals for moments like this), it didn't post because there was a blocked word (we used to have this problem with specialist because it contained the word cial!s), or there was one of them there t'interweb hiccups that just happens every now and then.

Go ahead and give it another go and sorry for any inconvenience.

I posted a msg about a reports of a wierd woman in peckham rye park allegedly trying to feed poisoned treats to dogs. the posting seems to have been deleted. why is this? as a dog walker on the rye, I can assure you that the dog owners are all really concerned about it. I wanted to know if anyone knew about it. it seems I shall never find out. perhaps a list of prohibitions could be published, as you chucked out an perfectly innocent enquiry about water main works in friern road last week. I am aware of your intensely liberal attitude to knife wielding young people in lordship lane, but a forum is a place for all sorts of thoughts, likes, dislikes and attitudes. if there are to be restrictions based on your hostility to some of us then maybe you should look at yourself.

messagemad woman in peckham rye park

much anxiety among dog walkers in this park. they have been warned that a strange woman with long grey hair is trying to feed poisoned snacks to the dogs. can't find anyone who has sen her. might be another urban myth like the peckham panther or the surrey puma, but if is true it is really terrifying.

Because it is still there...it is in the Lounge...

how 'private' are private messages?

The only people to read them are the sender and the recipient, even the email message that says "you have a new private message" does not contain the message (although it does contain the subject line).

I hope that answers your question.
