There still isn't a Pizza place that makes my dad as happy as Addomme in Streatham Hill! They do the best pizzas, have to be sourdough, have to be wood fired and light dough and delicious! Franco Manca is good but put me off with their raw garlic on my fave topping - kept me up all night! Haven't tried 400 rabbits yet and this new one does intrigue me somewhat - hopefully it's as good as Addomme so I don't have to drive to Streatham when my parents visit!

I hope Firefly at 325 Underhill are successful. Every business that has traded there only lasts a short time.

JRK, have you tried Mamma Dough? Branches in Honor Oak and Peckham. It's not bad.

They do a really tasty sausage sandwich, made with pizza dough.

I peered through the window of Firefly today. Looks like they will be selling wood burning stoves.

Has Duck Egg closed? It's name is no longer above the front, and it hasn't seemed to be open during its usual opening hours lately.

If so, does anybody know what is replacing it?

There is a For Sale sign up, but I'm not sure if that is for the shop or whatever is above it.

I tried 400 Rabbits yesterday. Still getting over the disappointment. All very average I thought, I'd give it a solid 5/10. I still love Franco Manca for the quality, good price, atmosphere and lovely staff.

There is now a notice on the door saying there is new management and a change of name.

Yes seems Duck Egg is no more. (Can't post the "under new management...coming soon...something wonderful" sign in the window as my picture's apparently too big

Tried 400 Rabbits a couple of weeks ago - very happy with pizza and our servers were switched on to the job.
For us it was good food and service and will be returning asap.

I liked Duck Egg. I often went early and got good service and nice food, once even on the house. It is a shame it's gone. Wonder what will be there next?

The cash only policy wasn't great. Kind of kills 'spur of the moment' / spontaneous pop ins.

They had the best range of breakfasts around- Kedgeree, Kippers, All the usual Eggs with Hollandaise offerings, omelettes, Mediterranean brekkies, Mexican breakfast etc etc. But also some peculiar practices (a hash brown and grilled tomato accompanying an Eggs Royale. Lose them both, no-one wants them and knock 50p off the price).

Also, and i've mentioned before, they filled old HP and Heinz Ketchup bottles with dirt cheap sauces. Only the greasiest of greasy spoons can get away with that old trick. Cheap and nasty tactics.

But, they were always busy at weekend brunchtimes and one girl in particular made a very good coffee too.

The sign said something about it becoming 'A Fabulous Little Place' (or something like that), which the way it was written gave the impression that this might literally the name of the new venture. I hope not, or I will never visit on principle.

Haha! I support this view wholeheartedly.

That's worse than calling yourself 'A Fabulous Little Place'.

They seem to have changed the sign now to remove that part.

I agree, that was the way I read it as well, that that was to be the name of the place - "Something Wonderful" or words to that effect.

New pop up shop on Bawdale Rd, just off Lordship Lane, called Tangerine Dream. You, ah, can't miss it. Selling homewares and jewellery (according to sign in window) but wasn't actually open when I went past earlier.

Homewares, jewellery and curry.

Not SE22 or SE15, but The Pigeon Hole cafe on Datchelor Place, Camberwell is really good and very reasonable. You can sit outside in a really quiet mini-square with trees and flowers.

I've posted it in 'ED businesses...' etc. but for those who don't trawl (I said trawl) the forum fully I just wanted to mention that the Butcher's Shop opposite the Plough is closing tomorrow (Sat 10th June) so regular customers might want to drop by to wish him well (he's off to Bromley).

Still plenty in the shop (though he's been running down the stock prior to move) so you have until 5pm tomorrow.

We went to Made of Dough last nite on Bellenden Road. The place was Beautiful (failed) Pizza Boy previously,

Jolly fun it was too, all lively and just how a lively new Peckham pizza place should be

Good music and drinks, and nice guys that actually own and run it, running it and 'owning' it too.

The pizzas were hot and round and tasty, just like pizza should be.

The drinks were wet and drinky like.

It's nice !
