  1. It is easy to "copy" an email address - I'm not good with describing things... someone else can make it appear to a recipient that the email sent has come from someone else and there nothing anyone can do about it. It's not even considered "illegal" in itself although obviously the content is then questionable and such. If you are sending someone personal details via email you really should break it up in different emails, with a different subject so it does not create a thread. For the annoying purchase ones such as Itunes, Paypal, Amazon etc. After initially setting up your account you should assign your contact details to a different email address. That way you can easily identify, easily if it's hotmail/outlook that you get the suspicious emails from, whether they are genuine or not. If you receive contact from any of the companies that you regularly deal with saying they've had trouble taking payment for something with a link to click always ignore it and sign in to your actual account to see if there is anything outstanding as a payment issue.

Isn't it generally thought (by council/government reckoning) that with shops, supposedly, reducing packaging along with households, again supposedly, being more savvy when it comes to purchasing goods and recycling that there shouldn't be a great amount needing to be recycled hence the fortnightly collections?

You don't sound like a particularly pleasant person - good luck on your mission, as seems the only solution to yourself, to remove the little furry creature from your life.

I appreciate that Jeremy, really I do, and certainly understand the frustration caused by such noises. I just think that living in an area such as ED, which is not the middle of the countryside, we can not expect to have peace and quiet all the time.

Should you wish to take up the case of > the cold dog feel free. I'm confused here - who exactly is on their "high horse"? moondancer, you are complaining about the dog yapping/making a noise which is a "nuisance" to you, yet someone mentions the welfare of the animal and you see fit to have a go at them? Is it really necessary to respond to others in this way? If that is how you choose to communicate with others, fair enough. It is a shame you then think someone is on their high horse for showing concern. Yes a dog barking can be annoying, as can a noisy child, someone practising a loud instrument, building works etc. We live in a world where people/animals make noise. It is a way of life. You've clearly said that the welfare of the animal in question is not your responsibility - I think you may be a little mistaken on that as welfare of any creature should be everyone's concern. Is it just purely a case that the noise is a disturbance to you and you alone and that it is simply is not on regardless of the reasons behind the "nuisance" you are suffering? If the animal is not in distress then you, like everyone else in the area, will have to put up it for the time being. Perhaps you should consider your own attitude which is coming across as rather antisocial and unneighbourly too.

  9. Usually, in my experience and not an over generalisation here, Americans and tourists like to open their wallets full of fiftys... I don't like the buggers, always difficult to spend locally.

  14. messageBuses going through red lights new Posted by Nigello Yesterday, 01:24PM A driver of a 12 I was on yesterday went through a red as it turned from W'worth Rd into Elephant. It was not a case of his having to do so because of danger, or because the lights were out of sync. I told him that I had witnessed this when I got off, asking him to please be careful. I also let the revenue inspector who was on board know. It happens often, so if you are on a bus that burns a red, please let the driver know you saw what happened. (I did not have enough information to let the bus company know.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Preferably NOT whilst their driving! Posted by Sue Yesterday, 03:31PM There should be a plate on the side of the bus which identifies the particular bus on that particular route and time. It's usually near the front at the side you get on at. Otherwise, the license plate number (or even just the route number), and the time and place should be sufficient for the company to identify the bus and driver. I have reported bad driving in the past (fearing for my life due to speed) and the bus company were very responsive. I doubt the revenue inspector would have reported it, because how the driver drives is not really his concern, plus presumably he'd be snitching on a colleague, but I may be wrong. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The two companies are completely separate and is much a case where drivers will have nothing to do with the revenue. Yes report incidents to TFL and the bus company itself but also think before you do to make sure you have all the facts - it wastes so much time when only half facts are provided.

Would your attitude be the same for someone who was not of a large size but chose to stand in the way? Or was it simply due to the fact that this woman was clearly of a larger size and therefore must be causing the issue right away? Grrr Rational Rage Rising

  18. As with anything, if you do not feel comfortable letting anyone into your property then don't do it. Kath47 did they say they would come back another time or leave with you any literature?

You're very much deluded if you think CPZ will help in any way around the area... really think about it and be careful what you wish for - once it's in...*shrugs

It would seem, while the issue is still being sorted with M&S (probably with the "legal" team as residents are always being fobbed off with), they (M&S) have chosen to try deliveries - which are not meant to take place before 7am Mon-Fri, 8am Sat and 10am Sunday/Bank holidays (unless a successful amendment has been made to the conditions placed on the planning application)- from the front to avoid further problems arising with effected neighbours.
  24. Just to through it in the mix... ADT have been canvassing the area recently - always something happens around the time they're in the area. Just saying!
