Many a driver is pulled in to the office daily to explain a complaint that's come in from joe public either via TFL or the bus company itself. How do you expect changes to occur if you don't do anything to help it?

You can purchase "gentle grip" or non-elastic socks in lots of places these days which might help for future control :-)

Sorry, my fault for bringing the term "leering" into it all. Wasn't my intention to stoke the fire further.

Yes I am! At least he's up front in what he is after. Would you prefer the leering silent type? Each to their own!

Both these responses are what gets me grrrr! Are you both like those pathetic neo feminists who simply stir up trouble completely unnecessarily with silly comments/accusations of others being sexist and all that? Are you? You're comments are more offensive than anything else! You're sitting in the Lounge... serious topics of discussion don't always appear. Whether the OP is serious or taking the mick I really don't see how it's any different from declaring someone prefers big busted women, well endowed men OR even someone who prefers red wine over white!

Received from Cllr Barber yesterday: Dear Resident, Just a quick email to ensure you?re aware of the decision local councillors took with regard to Melbourne Grove (south) proposed changes. At the 22 June Dulwich Community Council after hearing evidence, reviewing the consultant report we decided that we would fund the proposed changes. The proposed changes being changing the current speed humps to full width sinusoidal humps - we asked that where residents have basements under the pavement that this not occur which is predominantly the very southern part of Melbourne Grove. Some limited double yellow lines around the junction of Ashbourne Grove with Melbourne Grove as this appear a location for crashes. That we keep our mature trees and build the kerb out to allow people walking to get round them with buggies etc. The changes will cost ?32,000 which will be jointly funded by both East Dulwich ward (eastern side of the street) and Village ward (western side of the street) from our Cleaner, Greener, Safer devolved funding. The slight complication is Village ward don?t have any budget left so East Dulwich is likely to lend the required funding until the next batch of funding is devolved April 2017. The alternative would be a 10 month delay to proceeding. if you have any questions lease don?t hesitate to call or email me. Regards james barber Liberal Democrat Councillor for East Dulwich ward 07900 227366 www.jamesbarber.org.uk @cllrjamesbarber

Are there any thoughts whether the upgrade is more likely to be successful on 7 or 8? My computer, on 7, recently automatically installed 10 much to my "grrrr no you bloomin' well aint, stop it ya bugger!" rantings and it all went well - even had laptop at the ready to search for problems and all that... Now, of course I'm expecting my laptop, on 8, to get clever ideas an do the same. Can I be lucky twice?

Nope... says a lot don't it ;-)

What did they say when you asked them?

I'd keep it simple and not commit yourself to negative or positive points and keep it open for further discussion if necessary. You could focus in on key points about the role they're applying for where strengths may be identifiable. An intelligent employer will see where key responses are missing. A "lacks concentration at times" or "can find it difficult to follow instructions" can help. I think it unfair to give negative feedback in this instance. This chap may be completely different elsewhere. Of course that being said he may be a lot worse and others are right to think it unfair for another employer, but unless you know the people he's moving on to I wouldn't get involved. I've had many good and bad ones come and go. It's always difficult to know which is the best type of reference to give. I tend to go with the thought that if you don't have anything good to say... say not a lot.

Have you ever got your oven cleaned by professionals?
KalamityKel replied to Nate's topic in The Lounge
Shame on you for letting your oven get in to such a mess that you need to consider "professional" services!!! Tut tut! No really, if you're happy to spend money on someone else doing it then go for it... I'm not sure, unless there is some kind of special thing only a cleaning professional has hidden up their sleeve, that there would be much difference from doing it yourself - except maybe your sanity and no aches to yourself of course. Obviously if you're not physically capable of doing it for whatever reason the above doesn't apply ::) -
It's the same with golf no? ;-)

In all fairness at the crutches stage the bus did empty rather quickly as I got on... can't imagine why ;-)

Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I was tempted to suggest that she should get > crutches or a walking stick. That wouldn't necessarily make much difference. When I was struggling along on crutches and then a stick I was often overlooked. I never made a fuss (mostly as I knew my pain threshold was at it's limit and didn't know what my actions might be!) but did feel annoyed that people where often "blind" to others around them. My own experience has left me with more sympathetic understanding to those who may need a seat, in particular to those with no obvious outward signs of issues that may result in being seated the better option on public transport. I really grrrr when people assume a "right" to a seat over someone else's "right". Yes there is common courtesy but that does not mean anyone should be shuffled out of the way in an aggressive manner or with plenty of tut tutting.

I'm in favour of the move house suggestion... the same with cleaning - why bother :-))
