I don't really disagree with you MM - apart from the resignation bit. I'm minded to believe that people can learn from mistakes and discarding them everytime they are proven fallible seems counter-productive. I'm talking about the individual in question here, not this Labour Government... as a group they are entirely guilty as charged and will be sacked properly at the next election. Which I'll be happy about. I'll be less happy with their replacements tho

Did she deliberately break the law or was it a technical oversight? Putting a process in place to vet every single employee for immigration status is one thing - but the country would grind to a halt if those checks were run every single time. And I'm not that bothered about it anyway - I bet a lot if not most of the cleaners in a lot of Dulwich homes aren't strictly above board. Is she differenet because she is responsible? Depends wether such checks are a sop to a rabid press or not - I really don't see her as some villain, She didn't break or disregard the law - a minor step in a process was overlooked - she is holding her hands up and accepting the punishment.

I lived next door to a tannery in cork so I hope so!! As for the denomination of the church I think it does matter. As evangelical churches continue to split and multiply because they can't all agree on quite how much they hate sex and homosexuals, must we provide a space for every man-jack last one of them?? A lot o mainstream Christians have problems with th teachings of many evangelical churches so it's not just us damned unbelievers

Interesting logic. So if it was a choice between a cinema and a tannery and you believed most people were objecting to a tannery you woul vote for a tannery? There is a church mere yards away already. There is no cineman. Why a need for another church? You might "just believe" but one doesn't have to be anti-religious to favour the cinema surely?

Spent a couple of days in Camber Sands recently - had a great time. But nearest beaches to ED?? I don't think so . takes about 2 hours to get there Southend and Brighton are nearest in terms of journey time - both about an hour from main stations. Sufficiently different to offer choice as well
