Harris Leisure Centre - pay as you go or membership?

They don't let you use the pool at the girls school for some unknown, and very frustrating, reason. -
Harris Leisure Centre - pay as you go or membership?
Sandperson replied to Bungle's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
You can pay as you go. ?6 but you need to say you've had an induction at one of their gyms. I used it this winter as I needed to get some miles in and it was when the snow was really bad. I rang up their main number and was told it was fine but had to argue the point when I got to the front desk. Don't expect the recption people to be helpful. -
London Marathon - another appeal for sponsorship!
Sandperson replied to Sandperson's topic in The Lounge
Thanks Anna and thanks for the donation! -
Hello all, I too am running the marathon next weekend. I'm running for a fantastic local charity called the 999 Club and would be very grateful for any contributions which you could pass my way. There's a link in my signature for you to make a donation. The 999 Club runs three drop-in centres in South East London for anyone who is in need of advice, some company or just a warm, dry place to visit. I'd urge you to take a look at the work they do in Deptford, New Cross and Downham: http://www.999club.org/site/index.php I hope that you can take the time to look and maybe make a contribution to the cause!

Could you not put the bike in your hallway. I don't have a large flat and have four bikes stored inside and two in the shed (actually three in the shed...I think I have a problem!)

Just wanted to pop out of exile to say RIP the Hillsborough dead, you will indeed never walk alone.

I tend to find it's not the motorcyclists who cause problems for me as a cyclists is those fair weather scooterists. Them and the boy racer scooterists are a nightmare.

Adult fitness and exercise things in Peckham Rye Park
Sandperson replied to PeckhamRose's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
From Wiki: A pond is a body of water smaller than a lake, both being examples of terrain features. Although the term pond is universally used to describe waterbodies that are smaller than lakes, an internationally recognised size cutoff has not yet been agreed, with values ranging from 2 hectares (20,000 m2) to 8 hectares (80,000 m2) used to distinguish the smaller from the larger waterbody. -
Saturday mornings at Herne Hill velodrome
Sandperson replied to lenk's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I believe they have groups for all levels of experience and fitness. Check out this link: FAQ Looks like they would ask you to remove the brake or use one of their bikes and they run induction sessions to see what level you are at. I know a lot of people who have been along and enjoyed themselves. They seem to be pretty inclusive. There's also an open night on Tuesdays where you can ride any type of bike, just for fitness and I think they've introduced sunday morning sessions too. -
Yeah, I think we are trying to will it away as I am not sure what will happen if it chucks it down. Still there are other events down there throughout the summer!

Get yourself to the Herne Hill velodrome for the Good Friday meeting. Lot's of big(ish) track stars to be seen!

Interesting question. My brother, a seasoned cyclist, was knocked off his bike by a driver who tried to use the sun as an excuse. The police and insurance company attitude was that it was the driver's responsibility to drive to the conditions. On the other side of the coin, do drivers of large vehicles pay enough attention? I'm sure it works both ways. Good and bad cyclists, good and bad drivers.

The cyclist was killed at Elephant according to the police I spoke to. RIP

I've been a couple of times and enjoyed it. No hassles.

Tiny Little Things That Cause You Irrational Rage

People with those little wheelie suitcases who, when they get off a train or bus or reach the top or bottom of a flight of stairs, stop right there and then to extend the poxy handles so they can wheel them off not thinking that there's a stream of people behind them just about to trip over their stupid fiddly suitcase and possibly get crushed by other commuters. What's wrong with carrying it a few more bloomin steps! That and people who say 6 (or any other time) AM IN THE MORNING! If it's AM it IS the morning, I don't need to be told twice! This has even crept into some BBC journalism...whatever next? -
I'm a member of British Cycling and the British Triathlon Association. Both these organisations offer thrid party liablilty insurance with their memberships. As far as the cyclist getting hit (or side-swiped) I would have thought that the insurance company of the liable driver would pay out in case of fault.

So, you went through twelve pages and didn't click on the About us > What we do. Well, forgive me but I think that's a bit obtuse of you. I'm not sure what we did to offend you and your fiends but I hope you get over it. We do stop for cake sometimes!

If you look at the site properly you will also see this Louisiana: If you have a look through these pages and the forum you will see that we are a pretty active club, consisting of several hundred members. At one end of the spectrum many just ride for the sheer pleasure of being out on a bike in good company and we pride ourselves on being a great resource for anyone who wants to take a step up in their cycling to ride in a group or get a bit fitter. We aren't a club full of racers, I haven't raced in years. Please don't give people the wrong impression of us.
-
Hey! I'm a Paragonista! We are not all uniforms and racing at all. I go out regularly on a saturday morning with the club and we get people of all ages, standards and abilities. People on hybrids, folding bikes and MTBs. People in the club organise track racing and training, fun off road rides and lots of road cycling. Louisiana you should come out with us you might be suprised...
