I don't think ED had many Palace fans back then, so I would doubt that. It always used to be a predominately Millwall area, but I guess a lot of those people have moved on. And due to Palace's continued tenure in the Premiership and family reputation, a lot of people who have moved in more recently, have adopted them as their team.. malumbu Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Did Millwall drink in one pub and Palace another, > did they meet for a punch up or is just a myth > about how rough the area was 30 years ago

Crystal Palace Road - Pick up after your dogs!
DuncanW replied to Melph91's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'd be interested to know how may offenders Southwark have prosecuted under the existing legislation. My guess would be none, or close to none. I appreciate resources are stretched, but if they had a two-day purge on this once every couple of months, a few fines issued and publicised might go some way to changing the behavior of the small majority of dog-owners in question. -
XIX - Some of Blah Blah's assertions may be based on being able to visit the horses' stabling area, which is open to the public. As for grazing and roaming, I understand their horses have access to the common. As far as most people seem to see it, the horses and budgies at Zippo's are treated at least as well as other similar captive/domesticated animals would be. I get that some people may be against keeping any animals in captivity, and I think that's a reasonable view for someone to hold. But it doesn't seem to pertain specifically to Zippo's, so maybe a more general Lounge thread on animal welfare in the UK would be a better place to discuss that.

Erm.. it's a boulangarie! If they felt the need for inspiration on how to run their business, they might look somewhere closer to home than Oz... Urgent advice needed on primary schools in Dulwich

We have two at Bessemer and are very happy with it. -
More gently tongue in cheek tbh than heavy irony I think the premises in question has been vacant and boarded up for quite a while, so would rather have a new pizzeria than that any day... So it looks like we have a much-needed new pizza place opening up in Peckham Rye, a couple of doors up from Mr Bao. Voodoo Rays - they have branches in Shoreditch and Dalston apparently.

Yep, I heard them. Wasn't sure where they were coming from but we live close by. They didn't go on for that long I didn't think. Was it a post Eid celebration??

Jess from Funky Moves did our daughter's fifth birthday party earlier this year. It was great and all the kids really enjoyed it. 07810 431101 [email protected]

To the man that asked my 6 year old to cycle on the road
DuncanW replied to R U IN ED's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Anyone who is making the argument, explicitly or otherwise against a six-year old cycling on the pavement needs to take a good look at themselves in my opinion. -
Though not necessarily the recall capacity for numbers...

Dunno about that Otta. Isn't the cornerstone of the Hippocratic Oath to do no harm? That seems like a serious wrong-tuen to me.

Abe ? that map is for the electoral ward of East Dulwich. A ward which shares the name of the broader suburb, but not necessarily the same border. Many of the electoral wards in Southwark are not named that way, such as The Lane, Brunswick Park and Faraday. I doubt anyone would identify as living in Faraday. So I don't think that is definitive for that reason. Also it misses out chunks at the bottom that most people would recognise as East Dulwich. Also, proximity to a park or common bearing the name of one suburb doesn't mean that all touch-points are in that suburb. Clapham Common is an obvious example as the western end is Battersea and the southern end is Balham.

Warm swimming pool for toddler
DuncanW replied to eastdulwichproperty's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Beckenham tends to be quite warm, and the training pool has an adjustable depth, so if you go to a toddlers session, it should be set appropriately... -
It's nice that they have a designated picnic area, but I hadn't realised I had to use that area or else share my picnic with your dog. Thanks for the heads up!

Could you not ask for the appraisal meeting to be reconvened? Say that you genuinely don't remember this issue being discussed, but you're happy to go back over it. You may not agree with what is being said but at least the focus could then be on the issue itself, not whether or not it was discussed first time around.

I thought that the 20mph limit did not apply to red routes. So there aren't may of those in ED, but OKR and NKR are obvious examples where traffic can flow a bit faster. Sydenham Hill sticks out as somewhere where 30mmph could be reintroduced - it feels unnecessary there and as soon as you get to the end of it, you're out of Southwark and it's all 30 mph again anyway.

Supreme court upholds ban on term-time holidays
DuncanW replied to Earl Aelfheah's topic in The Lounge
i didn't seriously consider that they wouldn't as we have a good relationship with the school, their attendance was near 100% and the legislation and guidelines are clear that sort of trip is generally permitted. But to play along, we could have not gone, we could have gone without the kids, or we could have made it a very short trip to attend the Saturday service. All doable options. > DuncanW Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > A couple of years ago we took them out for 3 > days > > to attend a wedding in Krakow. Supreme court upholds ban on term-time holidays
DuncanW replied to Earl Aelfheah's topic in The Lounge
Spot on Otta Bit of a delayed response on this as we are away with our kids over the Easter break , and yes we could have saved a lot more than ?60 by taking them in term time. A couple of years ago we took them out for 3 days to attend a wedding in Krakow. We asked for and were given permission by the head. No problem. -

There have been 'luxury flats' on the riverside at Woolwich for well over ten years now. They tend to brand it as Royal Arsenal and not mention the W word. It's not the English national anthem, I don't think there is such a thing. I'm also an atheist and republican, but couldn't envisage myself booing it! What't the point in that. And I don't remember us 'all' doing so in the 70's! What matches were these?
