" they?ve been told by the guardianustas that he?s an awful terrible man and a liar to boot, until yesterday when he?s now a deliverer of truth and integrity. " That is literally the opposite point to what I've tried to make No claims of being a deliverer of truth and integrity - he remains as shifty as ever. But Johnson is the PM is a proven liar and looks to be making the same mistake he has made several times with this virus. No-one has to believe Cummings specifically - but putting aside all bias, guardinaista put downs and all the rest of it - do you genuinely think the core assertions made yesterday are untrue?
-
Yep - I did say Johnson wouldn't last the year. And the polls (and many people) are happy to laugh at me But I still think it's going to end badly, and more quickly than most think.
-
I'm seeing a lot of "now loads of people believe Cummings all of a sudden" type comments - but I don't think it's that simple - he remains as shifty and shady as ever. But he was in the room and a driving force behind much of the last 5 years - and it remains notable that the targets of his accusations have avoided explicitly refuting what he says But let's stick with him being an unreliable narrator - because he is. The problem is, the main person he is accusing is also an unreliable narrator - with a proven history of being so. SO either Cummings is lying, or Johnson is lying And in THAT very specific calculation I'm not inclined to believe Johnson above Cummings I don't think this is going to topple Johnson by itself - but it's easy to imagine death rising again and another lockdown because of the India variant despite the clear early evidence about the variant and this becoming a hot topic all over again

found the thread in question - painful reading post after post from me talking out of my arse... until I finally realised the error of my ways /forum/read.php?5,28468,28708#msg-28708

Many many years ago on this forum, someone posted about an attempted child abduction in the area At the time I was inclined to pooh-pooh it as there hand't been any official reports anywhere, and something as horrific as that would surely have made the papers/local news rather than say-so on a local forum - and I posted exactly that I was talking absolute nonsense - it was a very real incident and the people involved really really don't need to hear randos claiming it's all made up.

Anyone else think Hancock today might make things worse?
-
I don?t know, rah In time, I think yesterday will be seen as beginning of the end for Johnson

What are the supplements for Monica? And have you had a jab yet? With an airborne disease like this you must be anxious? -
I don't love reading newspapers on a kindle to be honest
-
Much easier on the eyes. Tablets use oles or lcd technology which is very ?bright?. I?m paraphrasing but it?s much harsher on they eyes. Particularly for plain text like books A kindle kindle is much much gentler but offers the same benefits (changing font size etc) If I forget my kindle when I?m out and about I generally don?t switch to tablet app for this reason. I?d rather just not read in that case

For some reason it?s the lyric ? Where are you going With your fetlocks blowing? That always tickles me

Ireland used to win the thing every year We didn?t even qualify for the final this time But we don?t invent reasons to self pity over a ludicrous singing contest

"towards" is doing a lot of work there

plus a lot of the impact has been masked by COVID and various issues arising We didn't hear much about Brits losing freedom of movement rights for a year - but now we have people flying to Portugal and the UK press are howling about spiteful Europeans picking on Brits with "new" rules And that's only going to get worse (in both senses - a) more people will be affected as more flights resumed b) the self-entitled whining about the exact impacts of what was told - not only were such warnings dismissed originally, they are now even not even referenced - it's just simple Brits being picked on) the lack of learning from events is astonishing

EU nationals in prison like conditions when held at border Fishermen under a bus Farmers heading same way Apocalyptic forecast were based on many criteria - one of them being no deal. But a deal (of sorts) was reached Many of the elements of that deal have yet to be implemented on the UK side - so we shall see I'm delighted the very worst predictions haven't come to pass I'm still massively upset that so many problems have manifested themselves only to be waved away

Some, ostensibly, less dim people here but the same head scratching abounds And this last sentence - satire surely? https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/your-90-days-are-up-europe-tells-holiday-home-britons-76wqjpjq9

The Best Bar in East Dulwich 2006...

I thought antic already had EDT - might have been the very first Antic pub in fact But Antic did do some weird "split" to do with structure/money and he could have been a victim of that. Or was that the Lodge era (god help us) Anyone know where he is these days? -

Any number on crossover of "people exempt from masks" and "not taking the vaccine"? -
way too much is forgiven by "left behind/in decline" Arguably, Scotland and NI have greater levels of poverty etc, but they are clear-minded about the perils of brexit (including knowing the Tories have been in power for 11 years and UK has lost ability to travel freely)
-
Regardless - why is it a Pub?s fault, any pubs fault if ice melts, or bits of cake fall off a table?

Monica Don?t believe everything you hear from the medical ?profession?. It may well be the case you don?t have a condition at all. Maybe seek out some natural, complimentary advice and medicine. Should see you right -
The main thing to note with these people is this Are they cross with the people who lied to them? Nope They are the same fertile ground for anti-eu propaganda and sentiment they always were If I were a progressive sort, who wanted Brexit, I would be worried about where such misplaced anger might lead us
-
The fact that this is only dawning on them now, 5 years into the whole thing speaks badly of an Education system And Media Are they small in number, people who think like this? My guess is no. The whole thing was promised on lies of nothing changing, all winning. This is brits on holiday - but it applies to fishing, Northern Ireland and rest of it

The people quoted in this article. I mean really Why is it bad form to call them dim? What other word would be appropriate? https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1437009/brexit-news-latest-spain-visa-europe-summer-holidays-british-expats-eu-tourism-latest
