Annoying words that have cropped up in our language

It's very confusing for us blokes Sue. Years ago I worked with a married lady who wanted to be called Miss as she wasn't a "man's appendage" so Mrs upset her. However getting rid of Miss will ruin the opening lines of the Dead Parrot Sketch "Excuse me Miss" Gruff voice "what do you mean Miss?" "I'm sorry, I have a cold" -
The issue for some, is not the introduction, but the timing of the introduction. We're still technically in a pandemic and people and businesses have suffered financially over the past few years so they are arguing for a delay of 12 months to allow the economy and businesses to get on to a more stable footing.

As a fox, dogs in a pack like that must have made you think of the bad old hunt days Foxy 😱

I sew no one Bit on this thread and it's gone to the Dogs 😂 Or did it need a long Lead time to get there

WOW That's a leap and pretty slanderous as you are making a sweeping statement about other people without any evidence The pro lobby seem to be reaching the bottom of the barrel now.

JeniJenJen, obviously the part where the council listen to local views occurred at the same time as their collective hearing aides ran out of batteries. Very few people actually want the measures and most want the council to go back to square one and hold proper consultations on what is actually needed locally. The way the council has operated may well see ramifications come local elections in a few months.

It does feel like the tail is wagging the dog here Council not listening to residents because they know best 😱

DR, you've hit the nail on the head, people want to be told what to do rather than take responsibility for their own actions and once told they have someone else to blame if things don't work out. It's not just masks but possibly most aspects of life at the moment.
-
Malumbu I quite agree about the lack of mask wearing, especially as cases are appearing to accelerate and I can't defend the Government's decision not to reintroduce mask wearing as a minimum as every person and their dog knows it's needed (but not everyone agrees with them) All we can do whilst we wait for "plan B" to start (and it's obvious it's needed now) is to protect ourselves and wear masks in busy places, social distance as much as possible and where we can work from home. If this Government won't be sensible then at least we all can.

I for one, am glad buses have returned to Rye Lane Without them it made it inaccessible to myself and other disabled residents and a huge inconvenience. If cyclists have to divert a short distance to use a safe route then it's possibly a very small price to pay to make Rye Lane accessible to all again.

Caught the opening episode last night and to me it didn't represent the Peckham I know and grown to love over the past quarter of a century. That's my view but what did other people think ? Hit or must Miss

Possibly But is that actually a problem ? I'm assuming that VLED will be removed so you pay per mile with the heaviest users of the road paying more. The only downside is "big brother" will know your every movement 😱

And again, did you do a head count on the day or are you supplying a best guesstimate? I think that without a formal or informal head count then it's hard to prove or disprove how many people attended over the 90 minutes but what can be proved is that neither the council (Officers or councillors) or our local MP were there to see the strength of protest at the schemes
-
Northern, were you there and did you do a head count or can you otherwise prove the numbers are inflated ?

ken78 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > so i live in dulwich and drive to kent and back > again on the same day will i have to pay to get to > my home ??? If you do it all in one day then you pay one days ULEZ, it's not a case of paying to come back in but paying if you are seen on camera Therefore leaving the boundary will trigger a charge, and entering again later in the day will be covered by the same charge
