  1. At my end of Lordship Lane the one opposite the Harvester is run by a lovely family. Always very friendly.
  2. Congratulations Ratty on your first born. Life goes on.
  3. I had the choice of representing my school in football or rugby at my comprehensive and chose football, simply for the fact that I was much better at it and wanted to be a professional. You may have a point there Alan about the lesser sportsmen ending up in the rugby team. It was certainly the case at my school.
  4. Bollocks! Stuff and bloody nonsense. It's got absolutely nothing to do with class or money. I was never bored as a kid. As long as I had a football and a few mates to have a kickabout with I was happy as a sandboy. There are plenty of open green spaces in and around Dulwich for various sporting activities and clubs to join. OK, so not everyone is sports minded, so take up a musical instrument. If you can learn to play the guitar or keyboards or whatever you'll always have a friend. Only mindless morons resort to thuggery.
  5. "I came to the conclusion a long time ago that my dinner is in the oven and always will be." Jeffrey Bernard.
  6. Ratty my Dad passed away this time last year. I'm an orphan now...blub blub .Who is the In The Living Years By then? Just looked it up, Mike and his boring Mechanics. Ugh! Everyone to there own I suppose. Try listening to the Ronnie Lane song Debris on Nods As Good As A Wink To A Blind Horse album by The Faces if you want to hear a really good father/son type of song.
  7. I'll go along with that DG. I use Spice Republic quite a bit as it's my local Indian takeaway.
  8. Well done Michael. Look forward to the jolly-up at the FHT on the 9th then.
  9. A beautiful song and a real tearjerker. BLUE SIDE OF LONESOME (Leon Payne) Jim Reeves - 1962 I'm calling to tell you it's over Yes, darling you're now free to go You're saying you're sorry you hurt me But you've hurt me much more than you know You're asking' me where this call comes from Oh, I hope that you won't end up here If you're new romance turns out a failure Here's where to find me my dear I'm just on the blue side of lonesome Right next to the Heartbreak Hotel In a tavern that's known as Three Teardrops On a bar stool, not doing' so well The floor has a carpet of sorrow But no one can weep in the aisle And they say someone broke the bar mirror With only the ghost of a smile The hands on the clock never alter For things never change in this place There's no present, no past, no future We're the ones who have lost in love's race I'm just on the blue side of lonesome Right next to the Heartbreak Hotel In a tavern that's known as Three Teardrops On a bar stool, not doing' so well.
  10. I remember when Barry McGuigan won the world title against Eusebio Pedroza, the build up, his father singing Danny Boy in the ring before the fight, the fight itself, what a night. It's a beautiful song and I well up whenever I hear it.
  11. Come on you guys keep up, Le Sulk is Nicolas Anelka.
  12. Tis true Char!ie and we probably know each other if you're a regular like am too but they seem to have got their act together now since Dave's been away in Greece. It's certainly being run properly now and no running out of beer or cider and the shorts are back up behind the bar again. All good stuff and hope it continues in the same vein once he gets back, which is tonight I think.
  13. When I first went to the Bishop in it's Forresters incarnation many years ago it had an upstairs pool room and very good it was too but I reckon it'll probably be a restaurant this time round. Only guessing mind. Anyway. FHT for the next drinks?
  14. Lion poo was Asset *Bob*. She knows about these things.
  15. See the thread on the November drinks.
  16. During the summer Brendan although that's a bit of an oxymoron seeing as we didn't have much of one. Anyway it's looking good for the FHT. Anyone else?
  17. That's unbelieveable! What a despicable bastard.(6)
  18. Me too. Haven't been in the FHT for more than 20 years and haven't been in since the refit and feel we should give it a go. The Drum or CPT is an excellent idea for the Xmas party but the CPT would just swing it for me as it's bigger.
  19. I ate a Ploughman's lunch once. He was absolutely furious.
  20. Been there done that.
  21. We haven't done the Forest Hill Tavern yet and think we should give it a go.
  22. Forum jolly-up in local bar of choice once a month. Usually first Friday of the month. Everybody's welcome and a good time is had by all.
  23. Swing Low Sweet Chariot was reissued on vinyl
  24. downsouth Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- I slept like a baby... Does that mean you woke up several times in the middle of the night screaming and crying and shat yourself? Sorry, couldn't resist. Anyway, all hail to the ale.
  25. You're quite right Ed-Pete, I stand corrected and I even had the blooming tee-shirt.
