Yep I am going in at 11pm to take phone off him. he did not work saturday so will enjoy the story of his hideous journey to st johns wood by public transport tomorrow.he will leave at 10....................... I enjoyed letting him sleep till 11 today. then get up - eat and go back to bed for an hour.

  5. djkqueen - I think you need to take tomorrow off to watch the new Childs and Bleakley program. if you set everything up now you should not have to move ( boil kettle make thermos of coffee etc.)
  6. easy to make one out of chocolate swiss rolls etc if you cant find anyone to help you.

  9. it is going to rain heavily tonight- go and sort out the garden and get some vitamin d while you can-or go and buy something nice to eat in bed when you get home.
  10. njc 97- I need him to answer the door to tesco delivery men, gas boiler men etc etc. -the ones that say we will come between 10 and 12- to save me taking a day off work. otherwise i could not care less. he does have a job but it is an "as and when " so he sometimes gets up at 10 if he can be bothered and i know he works really well when he gets there. i am having a problem with "stern words" they seem to wash over him now. it really is the actual act of waking up and getting up I feel an automatic physical device needs to be invented.!!!
  11. If your school intake has a large proportion immigrants - for example polish, czech, somali or some time ago serbo croat and the children do not speak english, and their paretns only sparingly, they will take longer to teach, and therefore almost aways take more of the teachers time. This is especaily so for younger children. They are so tired at the end of the day they come home and speak their native language with their paretns, their parents will find reading isntructions and reading stories in english difficult . it is true that children learn quickly but of course they take up extra resources which schools are not properly funded for. yes we know parents that are from different esp european countries that raise their children as tri-lingual - but they both spoke english themselves and their children obtained fantastic language qualifications. They were highly educated which also assists.
  12. tanza that is heartwarming. I hope you enjoy your job.
  13. partner got the 185 back as normal saturday so all was well he did not notice anything.
  14. in his room at 11pm, - no computer but i phone . I think you know where I am on this.I do occasionally get it off him and return it the next day but it is almost part of his anatomy and hard to find it. But when he did not have an i phone and had been playing sport it was the same problem. 4 weeks to go................

  16. the abbeyfield society has a few houses in herne hill. worth looking into. there is a nursing home in barry road but it depends how bad it is. :'(
  17. I always think I am quite liberal but my youngest attended this for a month or 2 when he was 10 and decided to leave as he could not "WIN" anything. I thought this was good for him but he hated it and said they were communists ( too much animal farm) and would not go back. I think they generally preach to the converted- but if you discuss it and they enjoy it I am sure they will not turn into little communists. ;-)
  18. Practically Narnia- if you have to leave them in bed and go to work and tell them to be up by 10am for a tesco delivery and they dont wake up , dont answer the phone or hear their alarm or hear the door bell. They are sometimes so zoned out. I dont seem to have a fail proof method if I am not physically there. Do you have any tricks or am I in your opinion being unrealistic?
  19. ANy idea what that was about? Drove the neighbouring dogs nuts.:X
  20. yes I am afraid you are absolutely right. money does not seem to work, bed is more attractive- but time will tell. today was particularly bad as man of dulwich and I thought we had it sussed last night - talked it through with him about getting up early- driving lesson- then meal out tonight etc etc. but at the end of the day you can take a horse to water etc etc. kids are a challenge sometimes!!
  21. nappy lady I hate to say I have tried this method and yes it does work but when you have a 6 ft 2 " lad to deal with it can get violent and I am trying to think of carrots- not sticks. 4 more weeks to go....
  22. all you with young ones I can tell you now that he was always hard to wake up from school age - and hard to put to bed. So you may never have this problem. In the meantime I have barged into his room several times- he just wrapped the duvet over his head. GGGRGRGGRGRGRGGR
  23. I am getting so mad on this. has lots to do but will not get up- keeps saying I AM getting up- goes straight back to bed. I have cut off allowance, but he could get up and earn money doing chores, talked it all through last night agreed that it was importatnt to do all this this morning and we would go out later. He leaves home next month for uni- I despair. What motivates a teeange boy to get up? :X
