Wolves... I might have to make a trip to Molineux next season.. but I fear for any team in the Premiership managed by Mick McCarthy as I really don't think he cuts the mustard. Nevertheless they are a big club and with a bit of ambitious football (like Hull start of this season) I hope at least they put up more of a battle than the Baggies..

What it has shown is that Big Sam has allowed himself to be used as a puppet by Alex Ferguson in his own row with Rafa. Wonder what his mate Phil Brown will have to say about it all next Friday, before Liverpool play Hull..

Hillsborough Disaster - What exactly is this Justice for the '96?

>> I think our average forum reader can probably grasp that tricky concept for themselves thank you Matthew. I was hoping for that.. however, apologies are welcomed. I think releasing the secret files on the Hillsborough disaster (i.e. what happened after the 3.15 cut off), now requested by Jacqui Smith from the South Yorkshire Police force will be extremely helpful for people to move on.. and maybe this will then lead one day to a line being drawn. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/merseyside/8006744.stm -
Sounds like the same woman who knocked on my door selling her book and she seemed genuine enough - I think it shows initiative and courage trying to sell her book, door to door.

Arsenal have to play Chelsea (2) / United (3) / Liverpool (1) in 6 of their remaining 9 fixtures this season (or possibly 8 of last 11)! What a run in! Naturally I want this evening's semi final to reach Extra Time just enough for Adebayor and Fabregas to get a niggle to put them out of Tuesday's clash at Anfield. Steven Gerrard, it has been announced, is out injured for the Arsenal game.

I went to see London Welsh v Waterloo in the English Cup at Old Deer Park (near Richmond) about 11 years ago, with the exiles being in the tier below their Northern guests. With 20 minutes to go London Welsh were trailing something like 25 points (or thereabouts), and started putting points on the board. As the game slipped into injury time they still needed 2 more tries, they got one and the home crowd went into a frenzy as they scented a famous comeback. As injury time expired, the Ref looked to blow his whistle next time the rugby ball went dead. London Welsh kept the ball alive for about 20 phases chucking the ball around like the French, when suddendly they made a couple of line breaks and hey presto they sensationally scored a late try! Unbelievable atmosphere, standing behind the touchline rope at a full house (about 3,000 punters)... we clapped the heroic players off the pitch and lo and behold I recognised one of the forwards as being at my old University, hell knows what he was doing there playing for London Welsh as he was Irish.. but there we are.. that's professionalism (well free pints at the bar anyway)..

It seems the co-ordinated personal attack on Rafa Benitez by Ferguson and Big Sam has left both with egg on their face as it has emerged Rafa's gesture was directed at his Liverpool players, Insua and Alonso. The players had ignored Rafa's instructions prior to Liverpool scoring from a free kick, the gesture and smile was to "show the pair that perhaps the manager doesn?t always know best, and the players were right." The question now is whether either Big Sam or Fergie will apologise. It is one thing having a go another club, but an unprovoked personal attack on another Manager is below the belt. It was a cheap shot from mud slingers and quite frankly the FA should charge Ferguson and Big Sam with bringing the game into disrepute.

Bloody hell mockney, it's an analogy.. it's to help all comers grasp why it's not as simple as saying, "sorry," -

LOL This made me chuckle from Harry Redknapp about Spurs Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko : "Not speaking English is a problem. You've always got his interpreter running around the training ground. Sometimes you pass the ball through the middle and he chases it. And the interpreter is running alongside him and he gets in there and heads into the net."

Haha, okay.. But rather bizarre that they both comment on same subject. Only last week Big Sam, before playing Liverpool, boasted about getting under skins of other managers but never being affected himself... I really don't know why Fergie has allowed himself to make such remarks before an FA Cup semi final, especially when he poked fun at Rafa doing same thing before 1st leg against Chelsea rather than concentrating on matter in hand.

Oh dear looks like Big Sam and Fergie have got together to orchestrate a few headlines about Rafa being arrogant and disrespectful. As ever pots calling the kettle black... http://www.setanta.com//uk/Articles/Football/2009/04/17/Premier-League-Allardyce-on-Rafa/gnid-48986/ http://www.setanta.com//uk/Articles/Football/2009/04/17/FA-Cup-Ferguson-blasts-Benitez/gnid-48971/ I know he is in exile, but I wonder what Sandperson would say about which of Fergie and Rafa is the one cracking up now!?

Anyway, I think the mosaic mural is the right way forward

Go and mow someone down in your car and then say Sorry, then go for a quick pint as all the problems of the world are resolved and people can get on with their lives... Might be a case of nothing you could have done, maybe there is a case for you to answer in a criminal court.. I don't know but unless the true facts are established questions will remain.. It's a simple analogy and it's exactly the same for one mother in this sad story of Hillsborough: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/hillsborough-disaster/2009/04/14/hillsborough-mother-anne-williams-has-spent-18-years-campaigning-for-new-inquest-into-death-of-teenage-son-115875-21277880/ -
It was just a suggestion... besides that why not.. a waste of a better suggestion from yourself perhaps!? I'd not do it personally but hey some people out there put up barbed wire to keep their backyards secure... this would do the same job but look better.. NB: ...and before anyone thinks of actually doing this, best make sure it's legal

How about you put a thin layer of cement, or perhaps a waterproof adhesive, on top of your garden wall, then smash up the tiles and then ply the wet cement with sharp edges pointing upwards. Not only will this look good when the sun shines down but also act as a deterrent to all manner of intruders.. Of course if you ever lose your front door key it might not be such a great idea.. ;-)

Any Rugby fans out there who sup their pints of bitter and insist on how cultured and well behaved a sport it is, compared to football, just because they don't argue with the Referee!? Check this out - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7997013.stm

Hillsborough Disaster - What exactly is this Justice for the '96?

A satisfactory outcome would be the inquests to be reopened beyond the 3.15 p.m. cut off time. That then goes back to my original post, as to why were supporters denied medical attention when it was clear even amongst the Police that there was a disaster at hand. This is the whole point of why the campaign for justice persists. -

Keef, you started up a thread about what 'is this Justice'? Well let me quote from the Guardian someone who lost their son and maybe this will help answer your question: Margaret Aspinall, "vice-chair of the Hillsborough Family Support Group, said the 3.15 cut-off was 'the biggest issue' for the families. 'There are huge, unanswered questions. How many could have survived if they had had proper care, and oxygen? Even now, we want reopened inquests beyond 3.15.'" Also from the same report, "The biggest grievance centres on the coroner's decision at the inquest to impose a 3.15 p.m. cut-off time -- saying the victims were all dead or fatally injured by then." and "Dr Iain West, consultant forensic pathologist at London's Guy's hospital," who examined one victim, said he, "died from severe neck injuries, and could have been saved had he been treated early enough. There may have been other victims who were recoverable after 3.15". It's been 20 years since Hillsborough and the cry for Justice has been strong throughout that time in various guises which you should know very well. I am bamboozled to know why you think the supporters who shout for justice do not know 'what the hell it means'. During my 20 years as a season ticket holder on the Kop I can tell you it's still a very red raw emotional subject. Those people who were at Anfield yesterday were there to pay their respects and some were able to contain their emotion more than others. Justice is not simply send someone to the gallows it's also about uncovering the truth - that in essense is why the Justice campaign persists. >> By the way, how would you personally feel if it had been Chelsea, >> Arsenal, or Man U fans in there that day? I am sure you'd think >> it very sad, but would you still be calling for justice, or is >> that specifically a Liverpool thing? I'd have been sickened by this disaster happening to anyone, I'd certainly not shrug my shoulders at yet another Police cover up. Why is this 'Liverpool family' analogy a fantasy - I've gone to in excess of 600 games with Liverpool during the last 21 years home and away, and there is a bond, a relationship, between Liverpool supporters. Many football supporters of other clubs that follows his/her team will subscribe to similar sentiment. I know you started the thread with the best of intentions Keef but you asked a question and I hope this has finally answered it. The above is not meant to sweep under the carpet other tragedies - including Heysel, which Liverpool have taken primary responsibility, and which also bring a tear to my eye. -

The South Yorkshire Chief Constable said on Tuesday, "Accountability has always lain with South Yorkshire Police. The Taylor report was quite clear in where blame lay. South Yorkshire Police fully accept their responsibility for the Hillsborough disaster. The force knows where it went wrong in a flawed operation and the leadership issues that led to the deaths of so many people." The coroner officially recorded that everyone was dead or brain dead by 3.15pm that afternoon, even though there are countless witnesses who have testified that some of the dead were still fighting for the lives after this cut off time. 3.15pm is convenient for the authorities because no inquest took place to why medical attention was denied to individual victims still alive and who may have survived. There were 25,000 Liverpool fans there that afternoon in 1989, and some were scarred more than others, families broken and hearts lost due to 96 deaths. It has left an impression, and will continue to leave an impression on generations to come. It would be a betrayal of any Liverpool supporter not to support and remember those that fell that fateful day and demand justice. How can the individuals who denied life, as a minimum, by negligence in their duties be allowed to escape prosecution - the Hillsborough tragedy has key events that are still covered up to this day post 3.15pm and until that is overturned no Liverpool supporter should ever rest. Initially the Police blamed fans for charging down the gates, then it was because of drunkness, then stealing from the dead.. a catalogue of lies to save their own skins that were undone by BBC cameras and CCTV. Still some like Kelvin McKenzie and Brian Clough were happy to peddle these lies for years to come. 96 families are not strong enough to take on the establishment by themselves but with the broader Liverpool 'family' who measure up in their millions this story will never rest until justice has been done. -

I was showing a visiter my patio'd back garden yesterday evening and noticed some fresh clumps of grass lying on some patio slabs. An unknown neighbour had decided to toss some of their garden over the wall into mine.. tut tut. By the size of the clumps it was almost certainly by little kids. Anyway, few hours later I was watching the football when two letters arrived through the letter box. I opened them up and there was a card in each, addressed as 'Dear Sir' neatly hand written by young children apologising as the culprits and promising not to do it again. What a nice gesture and taking responsibility at such a young age.
