  1. For the small private investor, Covered Warrants (same principle as Options but cheaper in size) are a good investment stratagy if you think an underlying stock is going to move up or down from a Covered Warrant strike price before it's maturity date. As with Options, the Covered Warrant although cash settled, gives you the right but not the obligation to buy the underlying stock at a fixed price. Your maximum loss is the one off premium you pay for the Covered Warrant plus any Broker trade commission. The further out of the money and less time to maturity the cheaper the Covered Warrant. For instance today you could have bought a Goldman Sachs RBS Call from your Broker at a strike price of 80p for 0.93p with a maturity of June 09. Now if tomorrow RBS suddenly shot up to 80p* then your Covered Warrant would, in theory, fly up to at least a tad under 80.93p. So overnight the value of your Covered Warrant would have increased by 87 times. A ?1,000 investment would suddenly be worth ?87,000 - whereas if you invested your ?1,000 in the actual RBS stock (30p) it would then be worth ?2,666 (80p a RBS share). Of course if the RBS never reaches 80p before June 09 then you lose your ?1,000 on the Covered Warrant (unless you sell it before expiry) - whereas if you bought the RBS stock outright then it would retain some value depending on actual RBS price. * This is purely to aid the example
  2. Jeeeez, East Dulwich is now known as "Nappy Valley" - according to the owners of the EDT http://www.antic-ltd.com/edt/index.html Whilst it was only recently I was coming to terms with it being called "Duppytown" - http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,142680,230235 What next!?
  3. It flew right up above Sainsbury's then immediately returned south, similar to the Puma a few weeks back - so wondered if there was any military significance in it's trip.. this alongside it's camouflage type paintwork..
  4. Is this another military chopper just flown over East Dulwich!?
  5. Yup the domestic cat - ideal for someone with a bald head as they can make a fresh wig every week but not for me..
  6. Jenson Button?
  7. Doritos (..but probably best not to watch in an open office in case of over zealous feminists) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oL1uud6Fy6M
  8. They do seem to have a problem with Police Horses at the Emirates - last season I had to squeeze past a pair of them and they are massive! They should really be working the fields rather than stopping ticket holders entering stadium. After yesterday's football RosieH, I think I might indeed be dead inside, so I am now open to your remedy of 'golden daffodils and 15 minutes of beautiful birds administered three times a day'...
  9. Well gutted with United's late winner. That will give United an incredible short term boost which in effect was probably the weakest line-up they've selected in the Premiership for a very long time or certainly this season. I counted 4 players, Van Der Saar, Carrick, Ronaldo, Evra who'd make their first choice XI. It might only be 48 hours but I expect United to blow Porto away on Tuesday night, and pretty much wipe the floor with Sunderland on Saturday. I honestly think that if United had not scored that winner - United would be on their back and out for the count and it would be a nailed on Liverpool title. However, that's football and United will now feel more confident with a theoretical 4 point lead. Until the next watershed moment (not pun intended)..
  10. I was walking down the road the other day, and watching where I walked when I saw a bumble bee flat on it's back. Now I don't know about you but I always think a dead bumble bee is a good bumble bee. Imagine no more bee stings, or incessant buzzing, or no more summer headlines of south american killer bees cutting loose. Of course the bumble bee is an important tool for polynation, sits somewhere in the food chain.. etc etc Anyway, I digress, I'd be interested to know what other species, if any, people wouldn't shed any tears over if they become extinct and why? (putting aside for a moment their integral part in the universe..)
  11. Absolutely ecstatic with the late winner for Liverpool down at Fulham. It was a full throttle singing of 'we gonna win the league' for a good 20 minutes after final whistle - my abdominals and head are aching like never before. MOTD cameras even caught me going mental when Yossi bagged the crucial goal (I was the one in the wooly top doing star jumps! ;-) Before the game milling through the Liverpool turnstiles was Hollywood actress Vanessa Redgrave, hunched over and looking very much her 72 years of age. She was sat in the executive terrace overhanging the corner of the Liverpool end, alongside the very subdued Liam Neeson. But such was the climax to the game followed by perhaps the most magnificent singing and bouncing on seats I have ever witnessed, or certainly since my trip to Istanbul, they to also got caught up in the electric celebrations. Liam Neeson was to be seen punching his fists, and Vanessa Redgrave was bouncing up and down, like a child, holding a Liverpool shirt - and this was a full 10 to 15 minutes after final whistle! Such was the power of this amazing finale in Fulham that everyone could momentarily forget their troubles. Just imagine if Liverpool actually win the Title!!
  12. I might see you both there as well if it's the pub I think next to tube
  13. Great meeting you as well Annie
  14. Great meeting everyone last night, really enjoyed it. Definately the plushest EDF Drinks venue I've attended (4th on the spin!), and the food samples were pretty tasty... Now I am going to rough it at Craven Cottage and check out the ale & pies in that neck of the woods :)
  15. Yup certainly is!
  16. Just ripped this after another website but who is the Manager that I've *** out? "People said I was mad to sign him" - when a player does well, *** takes absolutely all the credit. "I'm down to the bare bones here" - pre-match excuse for losing. "My missus could have (insert anything here)" - confidence boosting, the *** way. "The fans are gonna love him" - about to sign a troublemaker. "Of course I'd love (insert player) in my team, but I can't talk about him as he's at another club" - a sentence that totally vexes The F.A, who continually fail to spot the glaring mistake and admission of naughtiness in it. "For sure" - used like a normal person uses a full stop.

  18. Old Club v Country argument - even the players on Wednesday night were saving themselves for this weekend. I'd be quite happy if there was a United Kingdom football team, even if it currently only had English players.
  19. ED Lurker Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Nibbles?! Well I'd suggest you snack beforehand, as there will be a wild stampede when the food is brought out... ;-)
  20. In truth no one knows which direction it's going to take - same with the stock market. I personally think it will be a rocky ride of peaks and troughs for next few years. At end of day don't buy something with the view of moving on after 2 years, buy something that if sh1t hits the fan you'd be happy to bunker down in for 10 years.
  21. Feel free to spill the beans - you may get immunity if it enlightening!
  22. I can understand Shearer saying he is only in charge for 8 games to calm down the faithful, but what kind of motivation is that to the players. Surely it is better to think the Manager is going to be around long term. I read one Geordie say, "8 games, 8 wins, 24 points, we can still make Europe"
  23. I quite liked visiting the Forester's to watch the live football as at the time the EDT had a naff projection screen set-up with sun shining on half the screen..
  24. Anyone who gives their forum name first, unless it's their real name of course, should set alarm bells ringing! ;-) Well that's what I think anyway..
