  1. It was 20 years ago today, 15th April 1989, when 96 perished at Hillsborough. I remember listening to Radio 2 awaiting another FA Cup semi final commentary when the tragic news started to be broadcast. When you read the stories and see the footage and remember back to that fateful day, well.... YNWA.
  2. No it's not okay to lie about your salary, even if the motives are understandable, as I believe it forms part of the minimum reference most firms they take from previous employer (others being job title, start date and end date). If they ask you what your existing salary is, just tell them that for confidentiality reasons you are not able to disclose current salary with existing employer - besides that, tell them you'd prefer a salary offer to be made on your credentials and interview performance not on a paypacket.
  3. What a game! I was lucky enough to be at the Bridge tonight, and I think everyone was a winner. Probably in the cold light of day Liverpool will regret mistakes made but that's football. Just goes to show when you cut loose amazing things can happen. Liverpool can be proud of their fightback and in case anyone was in any doubt it proved they're not a one man team. EDIT: I retract the bit about everyone was a winner, as of course Drogba was playing and he is one big bag of shit that most fans would happily have a whip round to have deported.
  4. Well I've set my Sky+ for tonight just in case...
  5. Thought for the day.... 20 years ago Liverpool beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge 5-2
  6. Yup. I say bring back the old Studio system!
  7. Phoaw... Lana Turner
  8. Istanbul Champions League Final in 2005... when Liverpool trailed 3-0 at half time to AC Milan. This was a Milan team still very much in their pomp and who even had Diego Maradona drooling at half time after a perfect exhibition of football. At half time as Liverpool players sobbed into their cuppas - the travelling 50,000 Liverpool supporters sang You'll Never Walk Alone. This most famous of anthems slowly built from hope into belief and galvanised every man, woman, child and footballer wearing a red shirt that night in the Atuturk Stadium. Liverpool picked themselves up off the canvas and took on the Italian supermen and in 6 minutes of madness scored 3 goals to tie the score 3-3. The shock waves stunned the Italians and they crumbled in the penalty shoot that followed. Liverpool won the European Cup (the most famous and most important trophy in Club football), as once again Liverpool became masters of Europe. That is the greatest sports comeback of all time.
  9. A little weak in the middle third, i.e. the 'Programme', but glad I watched it with a strong finish.
  10. It's on BBC One (Northern Ireland only) if you have Sky.
  11. I vote bigbadwolf - who was too humble to nominate himself
  12. We should have the right to protest and given that liberty we have a duty to behave. Unfortunately over the course of time there is a stigma attached to protesters caused by a mindless minority, that make the majority suffer from incidents of over zealous policing. Until protest groups weed out the hotheads that are there purely to cause carnage I don't expect the Police to down their riot gear. Who'll ever forget the ransacking of McDonalds (in 1999) not to smash down the doors of Capitalism but to steel burgers for a free lunch!
  13. I have Liverpool on 88, United on 82 and Chelsea on 81 (and that is with United winning next 2 PL games) - all playing 38 games
  14. I suspect the The Vale will do both
  15. Finally Alex Ferguson has bowed to the inevitable.
  16. Daniel Agger and Mascherano will make a big difference in that 2nd leg. Still very much Chelsea's ball game but as we know goals change games and without John Terry nerves might kick in even at 0-1 or 1-1. I reckon best chance for Liverpool is 4-4-2 formation with Gerrard on right flank.
  17. You lost me when you compared Coldharbour Lane with Barry Road!
  18. It's more value for money that the education system
  19. Well Liverpool and Man U play back to back tomorrow - with only a 15 minute gap, so if there is late drama at Anfield it would be very influential on how the first half in particular goes at Sunderland. Both games will be very tough.
  20. >> Black Cats 1 Red Devils 2 (hopefully another late late winner) Late winners are great... but not the anxious heart pumping finale beforehand!
  21. I don't think they're the sharpest bunch in that place - am sure it was an innocent mistake
  22. I think it was his body language rather than wearing a Millwall shirt that got him assaulted. I think anyone who has encountered riot police will tell you they are hyper edgy and I guess they don't get all tooled up on a warm day without wanting to cut loose and batter someone, which in this case was someone nonchalently shuffling past them.
