  2. Gunn - thats absolutely amazing. Unbeaten pre season then 2 games played , won 1 lost 1. Sacked! Rash of headlines: "Gunn gets the bullet"......
  3. I just have not got a clue who will win the Premiership. Its too difficult this year. Agree with MP that if Chelsea had Hiddink thay would be big favourities. Don't fancy MU this year. Just think that last year there 13 games without conceding a goal won it for them. Loss of Tevez will be important not just Ronaldo. Liverpool I think could win it if they continued their tactics from the last 1/3 of last season but you don't know what Rafa is going to do next. Arsenal, I suspect they will do well if they can secure a top striker to replace Adebayor before the end of season, but have not seen them linked to anyone and that concerns me. I think Arshavin will be the player of the season and the team with the best player is often not far off. I'm drifting towards betting on Arsenal.
  4. HB - youre a gas. This injection of humour has filled a deep cavity in my day and made my gums tingle with excitement.
  5. I think MP/Sean this has been a really good thread. I have not read any of the press coverage, so its been informative. Its a good topic and it will be interesting to see how it develops.

"I maintain its a political debate" - I meant by this that I don't agree necessarily with the suggestion that this health issue is a political football being used to destabilise Obama. I can see having reread some posts that there is general agreement that its a right v left issue (with religious groups taking predictable stances). You did say at one point that its not about health at all - I think it is about health and the cost implications of it, which have focused peoples minds on the nature of the government they have voted in and where it might lead them. Which I can see is what you suggested earlier, but the health issue was the catalyst. Sorry to caused you such exasperation ! ::o

  8. No, it probably wouldn't. That was an interesting post Louisiana - nice to read something informative and interesting.
  9. mockney piers Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think you're missing my point slightly MM. I think I was missing the overall point Sean appears to have been getting at originally - That there is more to this than healthcare. But it would be a great pity if this were true and there were "sinister" moves to use this debate to destabilise Obama generally. I mentioned religion because one of your earlier posts referred to the muslim demographic timebomb, which suggested to me that there was opposition to Obama on religious grounds. Having heard what you have said though I do maintain this is a politacl debate - if in the midst of the biggest recession since the great depression you tell people that they have voted in a party of tax and spend and that they are going to be exposed to a significant additional tax burden then thats going to make them angry. People like socialist policies until someoene tells tham how much its all going to cost.
  10. oh dear. No not experienced that even though a lot of local cats in our garden too. Suggest to local cat owners that cats wear bells?
  11. Sean You clearly agree with your friend MP. I'm not sure you can associate or even disassociate political and religious issues. I think this remains primarily a cost issue for most US people - but religion is being taken into consideration as a secondary issue.

I take great pride in telling friends that I get my hair cut at the same barber as Timothy Spall....he also goes to Sean's Barry Road barber shop....no matter how often I ask for a "Timothy Spall" it seems I never come out looking quite like him. :'(
  14. A new thread where people say where they were in ED tonight, what bars etc. And rate their experience. I'll start: Tonight I was out with a mate and in: The Gowlett from 8.30 - 10.30 then EDT briefly and from 11pm-1am in Franklins. Gowlett 8/10 - great bar. Had some pizza and real ale. Only spoiled temporarily by the music. The seem to have a do it yourself dj option and some of the 80s revival music chosen was not great. Franklins. 7/10 hard to rate as late in evening but barman served up until 12 and did a large measure of macallen. Tops. Were we in the presence of any other forumites?
  15. Yes - well said TLS - I think in general we are lucky, at least most of the time. However all people need a day or two in the year when we have more money that we would normally have (that is why we bet?).
  16. "Ladygooners" - which EDF member might that team belong to? And - "Manila Bhoys" - thats interesting, or maybe a spelling mistake.
  17. Jeez - girls and football - whatever next.
  18. im sure you enjoyed supping that MP.
  19. anyone know what is happening there or what it will be? Seems to be work going on there.
  20. Visit the bank of William Hill.
  21. It has got to be Franklins. Best in the area (that I know of).
  22. Pay the wife.
  23. PGA starts today. Have backed Padraig at 16s and Rory at 66s. Woods too short at 6/4. Good start by Rory - 2 under after 5.

Keeping you keen I think.
  25. Yes I agree with all of that Sean. I guess they just feel that it will be a real cost to them in the future and they want to avoid creating this additional demand on resources. We are not disagreeing I'm just trying to think, like you, of why some people in the US have taken the stance that they have.
