  1. Us too! (edited to say I have just been shamed, no, inspired to up my game! My poor malnourished children...)
  2. For us it was trial and error, we have been through a few! I don't think you can go wrong with a bugaboo bee though I have not had one myself, they seem good for cities! I have a frog and a phil and teds vibe at the moment, both good for different things, the bugaboo because it can be parent facing which I like plus with the buggy board can transport mytoddler too, the p&t because I can get both kids into it, or one kid plus all my shopping!
  3. How do I get my little boy to try a larger variety of foods?? There are some things he will always eat and I rely on these but it means cooking two meals every evening. If I do manage to get something new in his gob he invariably spits it out. Is it a phase?( A very long one) Anyone have any tips or success stories I can cling to in hope...?
  4. My litle girl, now 8 months, did take a bottle a couple of times but she doesn't seem to like formula and I am fairly lazy when it comes to expressing so when I am at work she makes do with finger food. I am only gone a few hours anyway so not too concerned, esp as I have more than one mummy friend with babies who either won't take a bottle or are too distracted/interested in everything else to nurse well during the day anyway. In answer to your question I think you will find it happens naturally anyway as you start to offer more food, and offer it before instead of after bf. He still needs a lot of bm/formula now as he needs the calories, as I understand it anyway, but by one year old this will change. (edited to say that I meant he will be getting the calories from a lot more sources including cows milk at one year old, didn't mean that he will need less calories...)
  5. Congratulations!
  6. Really funny, and too true...
  7. Also the amby hammock can be converted to a bouncer with the aid of a different attachment, so even if you only use the bed bit for a few months you'll get a lot of use out of it. G is now 2 years 8 months and still in his cot. He has very recently been saying thatvhe wants to sleep on the sofa or the big bed instead so is probably time to either take the sides off or order a toddler bed!
  8. So rahrahrah have you had your little girl yet??
  9. I would definitely try what ever you feel like trying! If he throws it up and isn't bothered by the fact then it's more work for you cleaning but otherwise no harm done. You could try giving him a large piece of meat to chew on for flavour and see if he likes it, if not then it's maybe too soon? (I didn't wean early sorry have just re read the post but if you trusted him to let you know when he wanted to try 'real' food then why not trust him to let you know with protein too..) X
  10. What's not to like??
  11. I agree quids but what a drama getting sun screen on my two year old!!
  12. The nappy lady had some of these for sale, don't know if she still has any?
  13. Tui is nice, wish I had thought of it!
  14. I'm with you on the stopping front Ruth, am happy with my beautiful kids and though I would have been happy with either gender the second time round I am happy not to have any pressure to try for a third :)) I am now very curious about your new bub's name SB! I like the name Ruby...
  15. Fuschia I love the names you gave your kids too Ruth I didn't know you were having a girl congrats Pickle I had a list of Maori names for my little girl, hubby vetoed all but a couple and then only as a middle name:) My best friend has a cat named Oliver, which she regretted when she had a boy! I like Olivia too, but hubby's ex is called that so no go... India is nice..
  16. Love the name Noah for a girl or boy!
  17. I found it really difficult to choose a name for my baby girl, she was nameless for a week! There were a few names I liked but hubby didn't and vice versa, and we changed our minds about three times even then. If you like a name then go with it, things I wanted to avoid were strange spellings of names (the kid will go through life having to explain the spelling) and names which are hard to pronounce (name would be mis-pronounced a lot) (I like Bailey btw, reminds me of a character on Gray's Anatomy...) Good luck!
  18. Well the past couple of mornings I have had a lie in till ....6.15!!!! It FEELS a lot better than 5.30 even though it's only an extra 45 mins... Thanks sillywoman, it,s nice to hear!
  19. Love the hijack. Much more interesting read! (does the earlier bedtime get them to sleep longer or just ensure they get enough sleep?)
  20. I have an ex colleague who is 76 who I have adopted as a surrogate grandmother for my kids. She's fab, doesn't tell me what to do but is v supportive. The best thing I find about those whith grown up kids is they can offer perspective! Also this family room of course!
  21. Sb, almost made it out the door then g had a meltdown so we'll venture out this Arvo too
  22. Currently trying to persuade ms 8 months that she should nap, didn't work with mr two and two thirds at 5.30 either...
  23. you have nothing to lose by just asking, do you? and you could write down any points you want to make that back up your viewpoint/wishes... (really sorry but have no relevant experience to draw on, just want to add my support!)
  24. esp when loud snoring is coming from the next room...
  25. he gets so so tired if he doesn't nap, and even though there have been days when he hasn't slept it hasn't affected the following nights sleep. Also, his dad would have him napping three times a day if he could, so don't like my chances of getting him to agree just yet..
