  1. are you free next weds? there will be a few mums going to Horniman busy bees who have been through it recently and maybe even one or two preggers?
  2. sounds good to me,will have 2 1/2 yr old and a 6 month old
  3. I know you said no fruit but perhaps instead of a banana she could have a milk/yoghurt/banana/berry smoothie? you could add weetbix too and blend it all up
  4. I'd be up for some playdates, ds is 2 1/2 and dd is 6 months, am up by the Horniman and without a car so can get to the sandpit and museum easily, plus anywhere that's within a bus ride/ walk
  5. the bugaboo footmuff is good too as it is nice and long, lots of foot room and also reaches the top of the seat.
  6. How painful is it? sorry to sidetrack...
  7. I lost all the weight plus an extra 5 kilos breastfeeding the first, alas not the second!
  8. you could get a sling for the new baby? we got a p&t but mainly use it as a single at the moment, and have done most of the past 5 months. my little boy was a week shy of 24m when his sister was born, still had naps and these usually in the pram, so I needed him to be able to continue. Also, with the baby in a sling you can run after your toddler without leaving the baby (if your toddler likes to run off like mine..)
  9. Is there any history of this in your family? I think that women can carry the gene but don't actually get affected by it, so if any of the males in your family have had it then it is possible. Don't know much more than that, sorry! Hope someone else can shed some light, otherwise your gp I guess..
  10. childminding, bookkeeping?
  11. would love to meet up, alas have a vomity baby so will be anchored at home. Next time though definitely :)
  12. boogie beebies?
  13. when she was about three months old I took her to see a cranial osteopath and from then on things were much improved, could have been a combination of things though as at around that age their digestive systems start to be mature enough to cope with wind. She still gets windy (is nearly 6 months now) but can bring it up quite easily. Infacol seemed to work sometimes but not others, same for gripe water and windy pops(a herbal remedy), though there are other options that have been mentioned above so may be worth trying? If you haven't been to an osteo I would highly recommend it. My first child also suffered from wind but not to the same extent and I wonder if it was because we took him at 2 weeks old rather than waiting so long (just slipped my mind, not a conscious decision).. Also, do you put him on his tummy? that helped a bit, also cycling her legs and pushing her legs towards her stomach. I ended up wearing her in the baby bjorn a lot of the day, she was upright so didn't suffer so much, burped more easily, and could eat and sleep at will while I chased around after her big brother and got on with dinner etc. Hope it gets better very soon, it's tough!
  14. can't believe the poor woman asked for an epidural, was told she couldn't and then was told it was too late!
  15. Monday aft at Albrighton centre there used to be nice group for younger babies, under 18m I think, also wed morning at dulwich library they have singing (11am I think) but seriously, enjoy the sitting around because once it's over, it's over... ;-)
  16. since reading this thread I've been giving mainly water to my toddler who is surprisingly not objecting! am sad about the raisins though, they always work as a distraction in the pram to head off tantrums...
  17. I was also worried that bubba number two would not be as beautiful as her big brother! Luckily she's lovely (in my totally unbiased opinion of course..) And I'm sure you have nothing to worry about Ruth :))
  18. Have a look at these guides. There's one that covers Dulwich and Camberwell and one that covers Peckham and Nunhead. http://www.southwark.gov.uk/downloads/download/2409/lets_go_guide_summer_holidays
  19. we also see Alison at Dulwich Therapy Rooms, highly recommend her
  20. I'm sure my house would be tidier if I didn't have the forum to occupy me but I would also be insane...
  21. hard one, but if you're not sure then it can't hurt to go to the GP, and if it is a ploy to get a day off school/spend the day at the childminders then at least she will have been made to go through the rigmarole of doctor etc so not all fun and games..? and peace of mind for you of course!
  22. my mum's best friend crashed her car a few years back in NZ and ended up in a river, the car submerging. She had her two children in the car with her and managed to get her son out but couldn't reach her daughter, who must have been about 7 at the time. She was obviously beside herself but flagged down a truck driver who jumped onto the car, reached in and dragged out the little girl. He made sure they were all fine then jumped back in the truck and drove off. I don't know how long the daughter was under water for but she told her mum that she needn't have worried as the teachers at school had told them that there would be an air bubble, which she had found and breathed from!
  23. the deep breath will work better if taken with a stiff drink...
  24. when else can you get away with that kind of behaviour? ;-)
