  1. Top notch afternoon. Great fun although I think I'm still suffering from it! As an annual event it has great promise - although I think we all agreed to try and remove any element of skill or fitness from next year's in the spirit of amateur competition. Cheers for organising it guys (and thanks to the gals for sorting out the logistics). Anyone for a game of Ring, Bang, Scoosh(sp)?
  2. ENGLAND VS NEW ZEALAND SPOILER ALERT For those interested in the current Eng vs NZ game, young Mr Anderson is on fiiiiire! 5 wickets down, 5 to go!
  3. Go for it mate. Dressed in the safari suit from another thread and one of these things you'll be a sure fire hit with the ladiees. Which is of course very man's goal in life. Second to finding something to fit all your shopping in.
  4. I think it was only Lordship Lane places that were looked at but you can search for any on the Southwark council website should you feel the need. If Codfellas (Bellenden Rd) is half as bad as the Codfather (ED Rd) I feel your pain Bellenden Belle. Perhaps a rule of thumb should be never to eat in a restaurant with a pun for a name. Especially a fish-based film title pun!
  5. Seasick Steve seconded. Great show.
  6. One of these bad boys: http://www.sholley.com/Resources/clas2large.jpeg Although that's the infamous four-wheeled version. Excellent stability and load space but poor acceleration off the line. I'd rather go for the traditional two-wheeler myself - this one comes with the addition of a comfortable seat: http://www.essentialaids.com/images/091175629_medium.jpg Delightful.
  7. Do you mean a sholley? Or the wheeled suitcase?
  8. Isn't "help me....boab" the noise you make at the end of the race?
  9. In East Dulwich?!? Nah. Nothing like that. The Castle will get mentions from others but although it is probably the "saltiest" pub in ED, pubs in other parts of London make it look like the Savoy. And although rowdy it's certainly not dangerous. Unless you want a fight, that is! In which case the Bishop on Lordhsip Lane on a Friday/Sat night seems to be gaining a reputation. Can't say I've ever seen it myself but watch out for deaf muggers!

I have to disagree Gerry, I think, if anything, this ticket would bode badly for Obama. Whilst many "undecideds" and even the left-leaning Republicans would consider switching to Obama when Hilary comes aboard opinion polls tend to suggest that vital support drains away. She is a divisive figure both within her own party and on a national scale. Kind of love or hate - and for many Americans it's definitely hate. If, and I grant you it's a big if, I was Obama's advisor I think he has two options for a successful running mate. The first is John Edwards who has previously been on the ticket and has the experience of Presidential campaigns that Obama lacks. The second choice is the more risky but could herald a new dawn in American politics. The ethnic group Obama fails to reach is the Hispanics who tend to vote Repubican. Bill Richardson, the Governor of New Mexico is a latino and massively popular in the SW United States. A black/hispanic ticket would be both powerful and controversial but is a distinct possibility.
  11. It all reminds me of the old joke: A Texan walks into a pub in Ireland and clears his voice to the crowd of drinkers. He says, ?I hear you Irish are a bunch of hard drinkers. I?ll give $500 American dollars to anybody in here who can drink 10 pints of Guinness back-to-back.? The room is quiet and no one takes up the Texan?s offer. One man even leaves. Thirty minutes later the same gentleman who left shows back up and taps the Texan on the shoulder. ?Is your bet still good??, asks the Irishman. The Texan says yes and asks the bartender to line up 10 pints of Guinness. Immediately the Irishman tears into all 10 of the pint glasses drinking them all back-to-back. The other pub patrons cheer as the Texan sits in amazement. The Texan gives the Irishman the $500 and says, ?If ya don?t mind me askin?, where did you go for that 30 minutes you were gone??. The Irishman replies, ?Oh?I had to go to the pub down the street to see if I could do it first?. Suffice to say I shall not be doing a trial run that morning, or any other morning!
  12. 12:30pm at the Plough for a 1pm start I believe. You coming Brendan? Mr McG may have to dragged kicking and screaming but he'll be there.
  13. Bar layout looks tres trendy - all curves and stuff. Plus I can't work out how you get downstairs. Basement bar might be cool - all depends which market they go for I suppose. Fingers crossed. They'll have competition from those new guys @ Inside 72 though.
  14. Looks like the EDT or the Mag then.
  15. If I had Keef, I wouldn't have owned up to it in public. Infer from that what you will.
  16. Well that wasn't nearly as interesting as I'd hoped but never mind.
  17. Aye, but some poor buggers got their number listed on it. Could we not just ring and find out? I nominate Sean!
  18. And now for something very different: Scott Walker - The Old Man's Back Again
  19. A recent 7" vinyl, ebay purchase. Coming to a Lucky7s night anytime soon:
  20. General? That's for those peace lovin' westerners. Keef is surely now to be referred to as His Supreme Excellency, Keef the Merciless. All Hail!
  21. Sorry Mr Sean, sir. I didn't mean to break the rules, honest I didn't. But yeah, I'll be there. Now, where did I put that top hat?

  23. Moos, I may be competing in further sporting events this summer in a similar vain - and whilst I wouldn't like to put myself forward - there may be many Hugh Lawrie types turning up. The Chap Olympics As for the Barry Barry Road Race....can't wait!
  24. Having played Mr MacGabhan at pool I can confirm he is of a rather competitive ilk and will no doubt be appearing in full running gear accompanied by motivational coaches and physios. I shall be doing the whole thing in evening wear. Are martinis eligible as shots?
