  1. There's one of the drivers who always chats to my mum, says hello to everyone who boards and is generally a happy chappie. A credit to the bus company.
  2. Also worth noting the West Croydon trains will be diverted to run via East Croydon to Caterham (peaks to Selhurst).
  3. The normal Southern timetable is back from Monday after ASLEF decided to suspend the overtime ban. RMT strikes are also off.
  4. I thought the title was of an U2 album.
  5. I'm not the most social person, but always been friendly to my neighbour, taken in parcels and helped each other out when we've had problems.
  6. If 2tph of these services are terminating at Blackfriars, it should be a cross platform on the northbound direction and with many more trains, it'll be barely noticeable. However, you can blame the Tory run DfT who decided not to stop the Wimbledon Loop trains from terminating there instead due to political pressure, despite the fact that those services would be a lot more reliable without having to go through the core.
  7. GTR/Southern's has worked to the extent that Forest Hill/HOP will continue to be served by trains to East Croydon.

In ASLEF's case, they wanted to come to an agreement with Southern, yet it was their members who voted against the deal on safety grounds.
  9. Tomorrow's timetable appears to be worse than expected during the morning peak. Direct trains are at 0617, 0655, 0730, 0830 and 0930, then every 30 minutes at x50 and x20. Evening peak from London Bridge is 1711, 1809, 1851. A normal Southern service is operating from Forest Hill and Honor Oak Park.
  10. Southern, especially from Monday will attempt to run at least two trains per hour to most stations on the Metro lines. It's going to be the same situation where there will be more trains from East Dulwich on a Saturday than the working week.

I couldn't work out the > timetable. Thursday and Friday: No Beckenham Junction or peak services from Wimbledon, so only 2 trains per hour from West Croydon. Services from Forest Hill and Honor Oak Park aren't affected. From 3rd July. As above, except a reduction of services from Forest Hill and Honor Oak Park from 4tph to 2tph to London Bridge.
  12. Buses are now running via Barry Road, 40 is terminating at Goose Green.
  13. The 176 bus service has been cut to every 10 minutes since June 3rd.
  14. Zipcar are leaving cars on the Lordship Lane Estate as well. One of my neighbours couldn't use her parking space for the whole week as one was left there. (All cars need a permit to park) They've now parked another car on the estate which I understand from my mother who spoke to the Estate manager is being removed by Southwark tomorrow.
  15. It may be worth keeping an eye on Southern as from Sunday, ASLEF drivers will no longer work overtime again. When this last happened, trains from East Dulwich were seriously affected, the worst being 1 train per hour in the morning peak.
  16. We're pretty close to Crystal Palace for indoor tv aerial reception. I think the BT TV box has iPlayer and ITV Hub, so you can watch BBC and ITV channels online as a back-up.
  17. I use Ethernet connections to my PC, Smart TV and streaming boxes (Now TV and Amazon) and have no issues watching YouTube, Netflix, Amazon etc with TalkTalk Fibre. I only use Wi-fi for my tablet, phone and Chromecast and while the speed is slightly slower, there's no issue streaming video or using Skype.

I'm on their fibre service and have had no issues at all. Unlike Virgin.....

While Talkmobile is a MVNO, it is part of the Vodafone Group as the company was sold to them in 2015. There are numerous telecommunications companies with are part of bigger groups, despite keeping their brand names. EE is owned by BT, along with Plusnet for example, although are operated independently as part of the larger group.
  20. If a bus misses the green light, a bus can be easily held for up to two minutes.
  21. Those customers who use public transport will find it easier to use the Brixton branch than East Dulwich as there's no direct bus between the two branches.
  22. Rachel Wolf is the Conservative PPC for Dulwich & West Norwood. From the DWN Tory website. "We're delighted to announce that Rachel Wolf will be the Conservative Candidate for Dulwich and West Norwood. Rachel grew up in the constituency and attended local schools before going on to study Natural Sciences at Cambridge and Economics at Birkbeck. When she became pregnant with her first child she moved back here because it was the place she most wanted to live and bring up a family. Her daughter was born in King's College Hospital (and her son, due later this year, will be born there too!). She is proud to be a governor of a local primary school?Harris Primary East Dulwich. Rachel founded and directed the charity New Schools Network for many years, which helped communities across the country found new schools?including the Harris Primary and the Judith Kerr Primary school?in the face of opposition from the Labour Party. Rachel has also had a successful business career?running a growing division of a technology company in New York?and advised the Prime Minister on education and innovation. Since she moved back into the area, Rachel has been active supporting Dulwich and West Norwood Conservative Association and was very recently elected as its Chairman."

Pre 1965, there was a Borough of Camberwell which consisted of Dulwich, Peckham and Camberwell with the town hall in Peckham Road, which was Southwark's town hall until they moved to Tooley Street.

(130317) I have it on good authority that the service will be cut in June using the existing buses, then the new buses come in as part of the new tender in November.
