369 Lordship Lane Post Office Moving
Bic Basher replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
369 Lordship Lane PO is closing on Monday 14th September. It moves to Costcutter, 393-395 Lordship Lane, opposite St Thomas More RC Church on Tuesday 15th September. -
A short trip to Peckham will help stretch your income. If you live down the ED end, Peckham is within walking distance.

No water in Honor oak park area
Bic Basher replied to Love_London's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
From Thames Water. "No water/ Low pressure SE26 & SE23 Message last updated: Monday 6 July 2015 - 10.22AM. We are really sorry if you are experiencing problems with your water supply. Work is ongoing to repair a burst water main on Ormanton Road. Unfortunately this is a difficult repair which means it is taking us longer than normal. Our team are working hard to get this done as quickly as they can. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused." -

The other networks have base stations nearer the Grove, or in O2's case on the junction of Underhill Road.

I used to go in Iceland to pick up cheap loo roll which seemed to be on offer every other week. The Peckham one is nowhere as good and not worth it to queue up for ages while the one cashier is working. Penge Iceland is pretty good and worth visiting along with Wilko.

The continuing issues at this junction is due to TfL who are in charge of the lights, rather than Southwark Council where it's more easier to raise these issues. I'm pretty sure that until recently, the right turn from LL to Dulwich Common was in action all day. rather than the peaks, yet one of the reasons why nothing has been done to make things easier for pedestrians, especially those crossing from Cox's Walk is it'd ruin the contaflow of traffic from Forest Hill going into the Common.

You can also follow the South Circular as far to Kew Bridge, then join the M4.

You are about to be horrified. Foxtons coming to Rye Lane
Bic Basher replied to Louisa's topic in The Lounge
The rubbish is left by the fruit and veg stall, not the furniture shop which Foxtons wish to take over. It's bad enough Foxtons sticks out like a sore thumb in Brixton without another branch in one of the poorest parts of Southwark. -
UK Power Networks have confirmed power returned at 0114 which was due to an underground cable fault. They've diverted power around to distribute power back to the remaining properties affected.

From UK Power Networks. There is currently a power cut in this area. Our engineers are working hard to fix it as quickly as possible. We are sorry for any trouble this may have caused you. Reference number: INCD-113847-J Potentially affected postcodes: SE22 0,SE22 8,SE23 3 This power cut was reported at: 14-JUN-2015 23:50:14 Estimated time for power to be restored: 15-JUN-2015 02:00

Did anyone else in ED experience a power cut at around 11.50pm for around 30 seconds? Street lighting on LL by the Grove is still off.

Worth noting that if you have a data cap, NOW TV will go into that very quickly if you use it regularly.
-
I have Now TV built into my LG TV, which works fine, although it can buffer from time to time. The Now tv boxes suffer from motion judder as they output at a different frequency to services that broadcast in the UK. For a tenner, what do you expect? It also works on Chromecast, which is better than the Now TV box. Personally I'd only use it for sports and entertainment as the picture quality on the films is sub-standard HD.

Which area does college ward cover?
Bic Basher replied to bodsier's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
College Ward covers the area south of Dulwich Common, along with the Lordship Lane Estate, Overhill Road (inc Dawson's Heights), part of Underhill Road, Wood Vale and Lordship Lane east of Upland Road. The ward also covers parts of Upper Sydenham, Gipsy Hill and Crystal Palace under Southwark. Currently she's got two jobs, as MP for Dulwich and West Norwood which covers College, Village and East Dulwich Ward, as well as her job as a Cllr for College Ward on Southwark Council. -
Underhill road - what's it like?

overhill road bicycle contra-flow
Bic Basher replied to malcolmchurch's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
As a pedestrian, only allowing the 363 bus makes crossing Underhill Road safer as you only have to look to see if cars are coming from The Grove. If the right turn was allowed, it stop the controflow of traffic on the left lane towards Dulwich Common as cars go into the left lane, then back into the right lane. Remember that TfL manage that section of Lordship Lane, where their interests are for the car user and not pedestrians as shown by their lack of interest in resolving the crossing issues at the LL/Dulwich Common junction. -
I must have been one of the few people who had power in SE22 last night.

Dulwich & West Norwood Results
Bic Basher replied to Penguin68's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If the original proposals go through this time to have a constituency where the majority of ED including Peckham Rye ward merges with part of the Lewisham West and Penge constituency to become the Dulwich and Sydenham constituency, here at least it'll remain a safe Labour seat. Nationally, it would be more damaging to Labour.
