Hi there, I'm due beginning of May - about 2 months after my sons 2nd birthday (I also have an older daughter who will be nearly 4).

So that's at least 3 older brothers all around the same age!

Has anyone looked into NCT classes in the area for second/third time parents?

Ah, congrats all... so glad I'm not the only one - was starting to worry there!

And sounds like we're all in similar boats. I did look into the NCT refresher course but was so sick when the deadline for paying came that I just didn't follow up my booking, and haven't got round to it since.

Still can't believe how much worse I felt this time compared to last time. Hope you're all feeling well by now?

Hi Everyone and congrats!

I'm also due my 2nd at the beginning of March. My son is nearly 3 and there has been a bit of chatter about the little one in my tummy. For those of you with little ones already have you mentioned the next arrival?

Don't think I'm going to do the NCT class, hoping that it will all come back to me!

Beginning to get excited, feeling the Buba kick, so it feels more real. So much I want to do though, a long list of curtain making, DIY and generally getting some sort of order around here!! X

Hello! Another one expecting number two. Due at the end of May so still very early days - scan isn't for another three weeks. Our son will be nearly 21 months when he/she arrives and hasn't been sleeping very well recently - feeling terrified at the thought of going back to newborn sleep patterns! Very excited though.

Haven't decided yet about an NCT type class as too early still and, after last time, I'm not sure how helpful it will be.... Like the idea of meeting other people in a similar situation though.

Hello! And congratulations to all you second time mums!

Are there any other first timers out there?! I'm expecting my first at the start of March, and despite a growing bump am struggling to get my head round the fact that we'll be a family of 3 come the spring.

xx

It looks like there are quite a few of us around to form a group and meet and refresh our memories... no need for NCT ;)

izzybob - quite terrified myself of going back to newborn sleep patterns! hopefully I will manage it better this time!

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello all and congratulations on your pregnancies.

I am due in May with my second (my daughter will be almost 3). Very exciting although I have felt my share of nervousness too, especially around sleep and combining looking after a toddler and a newborn at the same time...

If anyone is interested in Active Birth classes I was trained by Janet Balaskas and Michel Odent and run workshops from my home in Camberwell every 6 weeks or so (including a section on Waterbirth). So far every mother I have taught has had a 100% natural, positive birth and only one mother has torn (it was tiny and didn't require a stitch). All home birth mums got the home birth they wanted and everyone else was very happy with their experience in hospital too. My next workshop is on December 16th and one of my home birth mum and dads are coming by for an hour to share their story and answer questions. The day costs ?35 per person and includes lunch, snacks, cake and beverages. Please PM me if you are interested.

Looking forward to meeting those of you who would like to meet up with our newborns in the spring!

Charly.

Hi ladies

I'm new on here so hope you don't mind me joining.

I'm 36 and pregnant for the first time. At 15 weeks now and will be having a C section around 25 April (although this little one is already massive so maybe a little sooner if it carries on this way!).

Hi everyone

I'm a (very excited!) first timer, due on 9th of May. Have booked myself in for NCT at Lammas Green in Upper Sydenham since the class days worked out best.

Have got lots of mummy friends in the area - one meets up with her Dulwich Forum Spring Mum's and the other 2 with the summer mum's from this year. So thought i'd check it out and see what's happening for 2013 babies.

I think they all met up at The Plough.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Hello all!

I'm due with my second in May, and we will have a two year gap. I don't think we will be doing any nct refreshers or anything, although might get a bit nervous nearer the time and retract that! Activebirthcharley, watch this space!

Good luck to all of you and I'm sure we will all cross paths at some point in the next few months

X

Hello again,

Welcome and congratulations to everyone!

Speaking of Active Brith Charly, would anyone be interested in a weekday class? For various reasons, even though I've 'been through' the process before, I'd really like to go to a workshop Charly is putting together. I work full time and have a toddler, and am loath to lose another day of the week from her even if the cause is as good as this!

Let me know so I can see if its worth putting a big enough class together to make it worth Charlys time. I have spoken to her via pm and she is willing to do a weekday class subject to numbers.

Have a good day everyone!

    • What a load of Bollixing nonsense. I saw Corbyn once speak as a back bencher.  I doubt whether he would have made a credible PM, let alone a leader of a mainstream political party, but he could speak very well. I haven't a clue what the quotes above are about.
    • the 1.8 million unemployed Brits could do the work that Brits won't do. Make minimum wage higher than the maximum benefits payments. So it's more profitable to be in work than it is to be unemployed.   anyway, round 2 today of Labour's attack on immigration. This one is reminiscent of their "hostile environment" that Liam Byrne created in 2007.
    • He's always been clear he'd rather be elsewhere than Westminster: https://www.thecanary.co/uk/analysis/2024/06/18/starmer-davos-interview/ "Westminster is too constrained. It’s closed and we’re not having meaning. Once you get out of Westminster whether it’s Davos or anywhere else, you actually engage with people that you can see working with in the future. Westminster is just a tribal shouting place."   That's who he is.
    • These are the times he used the word "fight", in context. And Rudy [Giuliani], you did a great job. He’s got guts. You know what? He’s got guts, unlike a lot of people in the Republican Party. He’s got guts. He fights. He fights, and I’ll tell you.   ... For years, Democrats have gotten away with election fraud and weak Republicans, and that’s what they are. There’s so many weak Republicans. We have great ones, Jim Jordan, and some of these guys. They’re out there fighting. The House guys are fighting, but it’s incredible. ... Did you see the other day where Joe Biden said, “I want to get rid of the America First policy”? What’s that all about, get rid of -- how do you say, “I want to get rid of America First”? Even if you’re going to do it, don’t talk about it, right? Unbelievable, what we have to go through, what we have to go through, and you have to get your people to fight. And if they don’t fight, we have to primary the hell out of the ones that don’t fight. You primary them. We’re going to let you know who they are. I can already tell you, frankly. ... Republicans are constantly fighting like a boxer with his hands tied behind his back. It’s like a boxer, and we want to be so nice. We want to be so respectful of everybody, including bad people. And we’re going to have to fight much harder, and Mike Pence is going to have to come through for us. ... And we were going to sit home and watch a big victory. And everybody had us down for a victory. It was going to be great. And now we’re out here fighting. ... [ I GUESS THE BBC REALLY COULDN'T USE THIS ONE:] The American people do not believe the corrupt fake news anymore. They have ruined their reputation. But it used to be that they’d argue with me, I’d fight. So I’d fight, they’d fight. I’d fight, they’d fight. Boop-boop. You’d believe me, you’d believe them. Somebody comes out. You know. They had their point of view, I had my point of view. But you’d have an argument. Now what they do is they go silent. It’s called suppression. And that’s what happens in a communist country. That’s what they do. They suppress. You don’t fight with them anymore, unless it’s a bad story. ... With your help over the last four years, we built the greatest political movement in the history of our country and nobody even challenges that. I say that over and over, and I never get challenged by the fake news, and they challenge almost everything we say. But our fight against the big donors, big media, big tech and others is just getting started. ... Our brightest days are before us. Our greatest achievements still wait. I think one of our great achievements will be election security because nobody until I came along, had any idea how corrupt our elections were. And again, most people would stand there at 9:00 in the evening and say, “I want to thank you very much,” and they go off to some other life, but I said, “Something’s wrong here. Something’s really wrong. Can’t have happened.” And we fight. We fight like hell and if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.
