That date changed a few months ago. Mid-January/early February now.

The world became a dangerous place.

I'll bet that had two fellas been chatting at the bar over a pint on the last night it was open, and one had said "by the time this place reopens, Donald Trump could well be president of the USA". He'd have been told he'd had enough and should probably be moving on.

Possibly with "Alright son, whatever you say - I suppose Bob Dylan's gonna be Nobel Laureate an'all?"

Anyone want a sweepstake on what an ordinary pint of medium bitter (say a 4.2%) will cost when they reopen? I'll go for ?5.30...

Yes - when I was looking the other day for info on when it would reopen I was surprised to see on TripAdvisor that it's "Open now 11.00-23.00" - may be a few disappointed tourists.

I had lunch at the Dog's "sister" pub, the Plough on Saturday. They told me that due to ongoing differences with the Dulwich Estate, reopening has been delayed until April 2017.

New wager. Which will come first, the Dog opening to paying customers or Virgin media upgrading the broadband in SE22?

This was the OP to this thread in September 2014 - they weren't wrong with the 2017 bit.

I just really liked the idea of a 5 min walk for a quick pint (no kids) on Christmas Day which I understand was a tradition at the Dog. Three Christmases will now have passed before this happy dream becomes a reality.

The Dulwich Estate have no care for public amenity and have demonstrated a lack of effective project management for this refurbishment. It should have taken 12-18 months max.
