Lots of building work happening again in the old Ludlow rental site. There seems to be a new bar or counter installed to the rear so this still could be a bookies or a cafe' style place. It's unclear.

I believe so, but the smaller ones will suffer. Sales, believe or not, are picking up. The problem with places like OS is that they offer very low fees, so they take lots of stock, but cannot maintain the level of interest with the resources and staff.

Don't mean to be rude Katie, but... who are you to veto a bookies? Maybe you won't use it, and neither will I... other people possibly will. At the end of the day it will provide employment, better that than an empty shop.

Don't estate agents provide a service and employment as well? Frankly I have never used a bookies, and hopefully by the time we are out of this recession there might be a viable alternative to Estate Agents, but both are preferable to empty shops.

Exactly. And every empty shop means people losing their jobs, and in this climate it would be naive to suggest they will all walk into another one, and then how many of them have kids who will go short as a result, possibly lose their home.

I'm sure there are plenty of shops on Lordship Lane I won't end up spending my money in but I don't wish the people out of business.

It'd make a great new bar that location wouldn't it - straight across the zebra crossing if you can't get served in the EDT, or the first bar on Lordship Lane for commuters returning from a long day at the office.

I think that very position would make it hard to get a Change of Use from A2 - never mind that the premises are too small for a bar surely?

Agreed on all counts... have I ever said otherwise?

I just happen to have a dislike of Osbourne Stewart as a company, that doesn't mean I take any satisfaction from seeing individuals out of work.

I think A2 to A3 should be fairly easy. As for size look at the late lamented Drum and Inside 72
