I know. Jermaine Defore wasn't eligible for the first leg of the League Cup semi-final against Burnley but apparently was for the second leg in which he scored and Spurs went through to the final. It's debatable but Spurs got the clearance so go figure with your Harry bating ratty. He got you promotion, won you the FA Cup and had you playing in Europe against the likes of AC Milan. Even went to your big rivals Southampton and got them relegated for you. You won't let it lie will you. Sour grapes I reckon.

Stomr in a teacup I think

Tottenham Hotspur are in real danger of having points docked for illegally playing Wilson Palacios in their Premier League clash against Bolton Wanderers yesterday.

The Honduran international was serving a ban for his former club Wigan Athletic, and there are rumours that because he played in yesterday's game, legal action should be taken against Spurs.

The suggestion is that if Palacios was still a Wigan player, his ban would have finished on 31st January, but because he moved to White Hart Lane, the ban should see him cup tied for Carling Cup and FA Cup games, meaning his ban should be carried over these games.

Therefore, his fixture list should read:

Wednesday Jan 21 2009 Burnley CC (A) (cup tied)

Saturday Jan 24 2009 Manchester United FA (A) (cup tied)

Tuesday Jan 27 2009 Stoke City (H) (suspended)

Saturday Jan 31 2009 Bolton Wanderers (A) (suspended)

Sunday Feb 08 2009 Arsenal (H) (ban lifted)

This news was revealed by a Wigan fans' website, and it is not known whether the Premier League will take legal action against Spurs, but what seems certain is that Palacios should have been made unavailable to Harry Redknapp and therefore should not have been played in the 3-2 defeat against Bolton yesterday.

Jose Bosingwa will not face any action for stamping on the back of Yossi Benayoun in the same match.

The Portuguese was not punished at the time and because the assistant referee admitted seeing it, the Football Association cannot review the incident.

Stupid rule!

Glad Lampard's card was recinded, but the above rule is rubbish! If the assistant ref admits to seeing it, and video shows that it is clearly an offence, then the player and the assistant should be punished!

Although I agree Keef, who, when watching an opponent time wasting by dribbling into the corner flag and trying to sheild the ball, hasn't wanted to just slide tackle the cheating bastard into the hoardings?! The lad Bosingwa just gave him a friendly nudge. This is the way to do it:

Aye, but the back-pass to the keeper was "good sensible play" too and that got outlawed for making the final ten mins of games dull - I think the whole dribble-into-the-corner-and-stay-there tactic should be given the same treatment....or we allow Boris style tackles!

Ratty - allow me to plug Setanta:

Setanta is only 10.99 a month and is fantastic value - you don't need a box or any contract with sky or anyone els - they just send out a little data card which you put into the back of your tv and off you go. Liverpool have been a heaps recently. They have also got FA Cup, SPL, US golf and from next season the rights to Guiness Premiership rugby. You can subscribe for one month only if you want to, there's no minimum term - so maybe give it a try.

Compared to Sky you get a lot more for your ?1 - perfect credit crunch value product.

I watched Liverpool tonight (currently extra time) but I seem to feel i get bored watching them. I have never particularly liked Rafa's syle of play and am never sure why Liverpool fans are so keen on him. Do any Liverpool fans want to see him go?

I feel if you put the Milan (brilliant but slightly fortunate) Ch League win to one side, there is not a lot to show for 5 seasons, and at the end of the day you want to be entertained. I think Liverpool's desperation to win the title shows that they will put up with cautious football for years if it means winning the league eventually - but I feel Rafa's reign will ultimately be looked back on as 5 wasted years....especially if Robbie Keane pops up for a bit of personal revenge on the last day of the season.

I don't believe it. I've been watching this turgid game for the whole evening. My wife has gone to bed in disgust and when Everton are scoring their goal ITV have gone to some sort of twisted ad break! Still, Liverpool are losing.

MM, my father-in-law and future brother-in-law (both Liverpool red through and through) both want him gone. I'm not sure it's that untypical an opinion.

I know it wasn't a classic, but I thought it was quite a good game to watch. Obviously not pleased with the result, but was kind of expecting it. Royal feck up by ITV! I'm not at all pleased with Rafa, he's sealed legend status because he won the champions league, but I think outside of Europe he's quite average.

Thank god I missed this game, as I was involved in my usual Wednesday 5 a side kick about.

Credit to Moyes with limited resources and funds he keeps getting results. For me it is managers like him that deserve praise rather than the mamangers who have all the money in the world and all the resources that comes with it and still manage to be average. He has got the team digging in and playing as cohesive unit, unlike my own team and others I could mention!!

    • Oh yes, it could have been about there, I can't remember exactly. At one point there seemed to be a load of pizza places opening on NCR. I vaguely remember the one we used to use was put out of business by another one which opened. Wasn't Grace and Favour's food offering more of a tea shop at the back of the actual shop? If memory serves the owner, whose name escapes me now, was one of the earliest people I know to move to Hastings. Which must now be crammed with South East Londoners 🤣

    • Hi Dogkennelhillbilly, You won't be aware that i proposed infill sites for housing in East Dulwich - the garages on Bassano Street and Henslowe that respectively became 1-4 Dill Terrace family houses and the 78, 80, 80A Henslowe Street family houses. These were council owned garages and it was frustrating how slow the council was to go from my idea to completion (roughly eight years). East Dulwich has some other vacant WW2 bomb sites I'm guessing that the private land owners have been sitting on.Owe for a land tax for vacant land.  WRT to the builders yard by East dulwich station. Southwark Council has an agreed policy the area should remain suburban 2/3 storeys maximum. But the approved scheme is 9 storeys of student accommodation. Very hard to put this genie back in the bottle. The council has recently publicly stated lower ratios of social housing will be required. I will be amazed if the developer doesn't submit another application now they have the 9 storeys approved but with significantly less social housing. The less social housing the higher the land values. The higher the land values the less social housing viability reports state are possible.  If we really want to increase home supply - Southwark have over 6,000 empty homes. Vancouver charges a low % of the value of empty homes and rapidly eased this problem. Parts of Wales have introduced under Article 4 planning permission is required for second homes seeing within 12 months a dramatic decrease in property prices. Southwark Council have Article 4 requirements - why not add this one? It takes National political will to solve this AND regional and local authorities such as the second home council tax premium and these being used promptly.
