I was thinking of starting off a thread on this whole subject , but I couldnt be arsed . I thought someone was going to do it quite soon anyhow .

I must admit to being a bit partial to the 1992 Genesis masterpiece "Fading Lights " from We Can't Dance .... a nod to the days of Trick Of The Tail and Wind and Wuthering .... nice .

Fish Out Of Water by Chris Squire .... now theirs a good'n

Now Eliza, how do you keep the nan bread good for the next day? I always find it's gone hard.

My guiltiest - Olivia Newton-John's Banks of the Ohio and a drunken Rustler

Lol, I used to love House of Elliot too. I think it was all the art deco sets and the amazing clothes - love the 20s and 30s.

And evaporated milk with tinned fruit cocktail was a real treat for afters when I was a kid, mum had to make sure me and my sister both got a glace cherry or one of us would be unhappy

Oh God..... The X-Factor auditions....

I know, I know, I hate myself.

Every year I promise myself I won't and then MrJ is out and I think I'll just have a quick look and the next thing you know it's the end of a disappointing day in London and Simon's already stormed out once, because it's all just too bad, and then the last audition of the day... it's a cheeky, shy-looking, primary school teacher... the judges aren't expecting much...but what's this? He's brilliant! Simon gives him a standing ovation and tells him it's the best first audition he's EVER heard... And I'm crying....

I am so ashamed.

Anna - heroin addiction/slight recovery/addiction/recovery of some sort/recovery but always chasing the high.

Anna, I'm not saying that's better than X-Factor. No not at all. Nor that it's any more socially productive.

But you never bastard well know, do you?

    • Just a quick post to say that my restaurant reviews column is now one year old. There are 45 reviews here* - mostly of local places (some sadly now defunct, others thriving). There are a couple of recipes from a period when I couldn't afford to eat out, a couple of moans about my health when I couldn't eat out on doctor's orders and a couple of reviews beyond our manor. But the main thing is that it is a free, useful guide to local dining and, I hope, an entertaining read. You can, of course, pay to subscribe or follow for free to get the reviews directly into your inbox as I don't want to spam EDF with every review (doctor says I'm not allowed spam anyway). The pictures below come from my two most popular reviews - Persepolis (new SE22 spin-off opening soon) and Norbert's, a great addition to East Dulwich. Please have a read and please consider subscribing. Did I mention you can subscribe for free?   https://eatsdulwich.substack.com/  *It would have been 46 but one review didn't run because the meal was so disappointing. I try not to be negative. To paraphrase Boyzone (or is it Westlife?) I said it best by saying nothing at all.
