Keef, there's been a flyer in the area promoting a new restaurant called The Alchemist on the site of the Blue Brick Cafe.

"a care in the community charitable & semi co-operative social enterprise".

BYO - corkage ?1.90. 10% from the Offie at 141 Lordship Lane to diners.

Don't get so hung up macroban. I don't think they're out to con anyone.

More stuff from flyer:

"No cover charge - no service charge. All our workers are part of said Social Enterprise - they share equally in 33% of turnover, 25% of profits and maybe a tip here or there."

"Corkage on Sundays to Charity."

Indeed.

Looks like a 6 week run or so. Brilliantly cryptic flyer.

"Not just a sexy little bring your own Cocktail and Wine Bar, Flambe Restaurant, Lobster Shack, Couscous House - But also a care in the community charitable & semi co-operative social enterprise.

Open Tuesday to Sundays, 6pm to 10pm at the Blue Brick Cafe, Fellbrigg Road. BYO wine.

Sample menu both vegetarian and for "Meatarians":

- Cous cous African stew of roots & spring vegetables

- Baby Lobster Carbonara w ham and cream

- Warm salad of young spinach, smoked bacon and mange tout

- Oven baked field mushrooms with avocado and Stilton

- Chicken or Lamb tagine

"We welcome vegans, vegetarians, babies, young and old, Natives and all other oppressed minorities.....

....casual munchers welcome but Serious Diners will always make a reservation"

And a 24 hour reservation mobile to call. First night is this Tuesday June 16th.

Whatever this morphs into - I'm in!

    • There was something to do a with a gate in the Brockwell case, I can't recall the detail, but the council removed a gate, which had been gifted in trust to the park, so the festival builders could allow access, or something. And that was illegal and that's what enabled Rylance et al to litigate.
    • How long is the Gala, and potential new event, disruption….this could be key from the article on the High Court challenge against Lambeth…   Under permitted development rules, a temporary change of use is allowed for a total of 28 days each calendar year, but the Brockwell Park festivals run over 37 days and were due to begin on 23 May.
    • Try the castle upstairs, you'd need to buy a few drinks in return.  @Suecan you advise?  It will be in use some Mondays no doubt
    • Yes, I was bemused to see that notice in Barry Road. It seemed a strange place to be having a drop off point.
