Good evening

This is my last update, I am ready for my bed been up since 430am and another early start tomorrow. Trains are severly affected for Sussex coast, metro area trains are running, some cancellations and delays but london bridge remains operational till end of service

However, with these freezing temperatures predicted tonight, I honestly believe that tomorrow morning will be chaotic! Network rail will run ghost trains tonight to keep routes open for the morning, I strongly suggest checking Southerns website first thing. I will update also in the morning

I have teams out at 1am to clear snow and another team out at 4am, East Dulwich is first on list and is also having paths cleared as I write this. It has been at times today, a losing battle clearing platforms

If you drive carefully at 20mph, keep in high gear low revs (e,g, move of in second gear and do not spin drive wheels) and have reasonable tyres. a light foot etc etc some back streets seem quite empty - I'm just guiding a friend (from Loughhborough junction to Nunhead) - up Herne Hill Road, right into Ferndene, left down Denmark Hill and right up Champoin Hill, across Dog Kennel Hill. down Grove Hill, left and right into Malf Road, Avondale and Maxted to up Crystal Palace Road, left into Underhill left on Dunstans, up Colyton / Homestall (oops - some silly b----er driving fast has just hit a parked car!!) and home

Hope that helps someone - if you have any grip at all try it as the roads leading to all the hills e.g. Forest Hill Road seem blocked by stuck cars

Having just spent quite some time this evening enjoying the fine view of The Plough and the library with my increasingly irritated 2 year old daughter in the car, I've been thinking unthinkable things about the bendy buses... On a more positive note, the weather has brought a new experience: that of finishing off my car parking by hand pushing the back of the car sideways against the kerb on a rather icy Landcroft Road. Not much help from me, but appreciating the updates and deciding to make a first post after a couple of years lurking....

Found out about Dulwich Hamlet's closed from my sister - what a nightmare for some parents and they've only just gone back - I'm lucky in that I'm a registered childminder so work from home (although I've got a week off now, ha ha with 3 of my own) - got two at The Charter so they will prob follow - will find out tomorrow to their delight.

Government are trying to get all parents with kids over 10 back to work - how's that gonna happen?

    • Hello, Does anyone know of any climbing, basketball or badminton clubs that are local to Peckham, East Dulwich? My son’s weekends are full of football and rugby training but I’m struggling to keep him busy (off a screen!) on week evenings. I’ve looked into the London Community boxing but sessions sadly start at 4.30 and he’s not back from school until 5.  Any recommendations gratefully received!
    • Be careful out there  !   I got a ticket for 1 minute over  on Lordship Lane   ---- with a blue badge , on a single yellow ...    I returned at 4.03pm to find the ticket -- he waited till 4.01pm with ticket and then scarpered  Naturally i appealed it and this was the response   We refer to the informal challenge you have made against the issue of the Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) JK17113680 You were parked on a single yellow line with one yellow kerb marking. There is a sign at the location advising that no loading is permitted Monday-Friday, 7 am to 10 am, and then 4 pm to 7 pm. Loading is permitted for a maximum of 40 minutes between 10 am and 4 pm, and then again after 7 pm. You were observed parked at 4:01 pm. and therefore issued a PCN for parking at a time when the rule applies. The purpose of this rule is to improve traffic flow and safety at all times. This contravention is immediately enforceable, and therefore, a PCN can be issued straight away as no observation period is needed. This rule applies to disabled badge holders, too; it is not a situation where you may use your disabled badge. Although your Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) was correctly given, we have cancelled it on this occasion, as a gesture of goodwill. Please note that this cancellation does not set a precedent for other PCNs issued in the future under similar circumstances, as each case is dealt with on its own merits. Yours sincerely Anita Hayler Southwark Parking
    • Closed this evening at 7pm (Tuesday). Perhaps worth ringing first to check if it’s open?
    • Thanks for the recommendation. So pleased I found Andy the plumber! After being let down by others, he assessed remotely, ordered part and got everything sorted in no time. Really grateful — thank you! Highly recommend
