  1. Well it certainly does when compared to Nunhead! xxx
  2. I was being nice, just didn't see the point in the obvious dig at the CPT, it's hardly like they're in competition now is it? I also stand by what I said, each to their own, glad people had fun at the rye, just not my bag, more oz idea of hell.
  3. I'm off til Wednesday :)-D
  4. Sure it was much more grand than the CPT Mr Ben, but not everyone wants to pay to go in to a pub, and dress up for a night out in Peckham.
  5. Not working today, but very annoyingly I had an appointment at St Thomas' at 9 so was actually out of bed earlier than I ever bother with for work! Trains actually rather busy, but probably because the gits are running a Saturday service even though they're charging everyone full fares. Grr!
  6. I had a nice time at the CPT, even got up for a dance! Left at a reasonable time, but made the mistake of going back to a friend's to call a cab... Several drinks later we finally got our cab, and got home abou 4. Oh well. :)-D
  7. Many happy returns to everyone. I hope I don't feel like this too often in 2009!
  8. I thought I was being thick not having a clue what they were actually saying.
  9. Not read that, but tried Anil's Ghost, also by Michael Ondaatje, and found it horrifically dull... Have always said I'd go back to it, having finally given up about a third of the way through, but there are just so many more books out there that I'll enjoy, I don't see the point in going back to something you know will be painfull, just so you can tell people at dinner parties that you've read the right books.
  10. CPT and Plough as far as I know.
  11. When chating to my dad yesterday, he told me you didn't need tickets for Plough. Think he goes in there a fair bit for a pint, so he'd probably know. CPT is ticket free too.

Agree, and same for pool table. Like the juke box idea though, and just say no to jazz!

    O'Neil's? God, if only!
  14. I'm just going to the CPT, which for the record, is not charging. Not particularly exciting, but cn't be doing with yet another night in. I shall also be surrounded by people who can most definitely hold their drink :)-D
  15. Only reason I find it a bit depressing is because I will have no money for a couple of weeks. It does however promise to be a great new year, and I am excited about 2009.
  16. Getting to spend each new year of your life with a, er, well new year. Fresh starts, clean slates and all that... Just make sure you get lots of drinks bought for you by drunk people! Oh, and happy birthday :)-D

It is a very nice pub, but at the end of the day, it's a back street boozer that is never going to attract a massive crowd on a regular basis, same as the CPT. Alan, do you think The Red Star should be forced to go back to being "The Father Red Cap"
  18. Well be pleased that your husband has superb taste, you should take it as a direct compliment from him to you ;-)
  19. You're probably right Simon, and I certainly wouldn't expect him to stay indoors, but even if his mates jump on someone, he should have the brains to just make sure he doesn't put a boot in, as he is basically being watched all the time when he's not at home.
  20. I liked Inside 72 if I was on a day off, nice place to sit and read the paper with a beer and a steak sandwich. I never went in there when it looked busy though, the whole standing with my elbows tucked in to my sides and my beer under my chin thing just doesn't do it for me. Liked the style of the place though. Have no real opinion on Adventure, as only popped in for 10 minutes on opening night. Don't really think it's my kind of place, but will probably try again at some stage! Agree with Jeremy that there are plenty of places for 30 somethings and above (I'm 30, but regularly drink with mates from 22 up to 50+). I like the CPT, Plough, and Magnolia. Like the Cherry on a quieter night, and same for EDT. Bishop okay in the afternoon, but can't stand it when it's busy!
  21. Yes, you go down some steps to an extra area at the back. It isn't massive, but it should open the place up nicely.
  22. Erm, to be fair to CWALD (who for the record is not a he), she did say "Most of the home owners who joined the feeding frenzy but who have or are about to get stung, deserve our sympathy - but not a lot.", not actually sure if that proves or disproves Microbite's point. I personally have a lot of repect for CWALD and her passion about environmental issues. However, on this thread, I think you have rather contradicted yourself, and maybe have come across in a way that you wouldn't actually like to portray. Thing about this thread is the likes of Huguenot have produced clear stats to back his arguements. You have produced loads and loads of text, that is basically just written by someone who feels the same as you, but that doesn't actually come across as particularly reliable. It's not for me to speak on someone's behalf, but having met her a few times, I honestly don't think CWALD would laugh at a person who found themselves out on the street. The whole bus / cyclist / punching thread taught me that you can say things on here that deep down you may mean, but in cold reality, such things would trouble you. Aaaanyway, so how about that ED housing market huh? Crazy stuff! Happy new year!
  23. LadyG I'm sure he gets people trying to wind him up, but he should surround himself with people who can calm such situations, not dive in to a ruck.
  24. Hmmm, Gerrard charged. Obviously don't know all the facts yet, but why has he even put himself anywhere near that sort of situation, there is no excuse for it. Hate to say it (and wouldn't put him in the same league as Barton), but if it i proven that he got physically involved in giving someone a kicking, I hope they throw the book at him (which they won't)! Fingers crossed some CCTV footage will clear him, but it's a worry that he was charged with 2 other men, whilst 3 others were not charged. Suggests he was more involved than he should have been... Don't think it makes me at all anti Liverpool saying that. I will support them on the pitch, but off of it, they need to be answerable to the same laws and punishments as the rest of us!
  25. Bought my uncle a lovely dartboard in cabinet for crimbo, think it was only around ?20, go for one of those!
