Sandperson I'm not trying to bait or anything here, but this is what I don't get. Just say it had started with the driver of the bus almost hurting the cyclist. Why then would the cyclist ride along with the bus hitting the side of it? Surely that is just putting himself at more risk isn't it? That is my whole point, the riding along hitting the bus is what turned me against him in this story, otherwise I'd have probably been on his side.
-
Why so unpleasant Horsebox, seriously? Had the bus driver gotten out and been hit would there be quite the same outrage? I wasn't backtracking, I was trying to explain myself. Sorry if that's pathetic. I really need to stop looking at this thread as I can't help responding, and am probably doing myself no favours, but I don't think you have really read what I have said right from my first post. You may not agree with me, but I still make no apologies. The driver was wrong, but the cyclist didn't let it drop did he?

Can it be me, I have outdone myself in the 343 bus thread :-$

For those who've not heard us before, or those who have but like us, we have uploaded (for a limited time) our newly recorded demo tracks to myspace. Bare Groove on myspace

Thanks Jeremy. bossboss, I actually agree with you, and have never actually defended the driver at all, I just tried to highlight the other side. Carolyn, the Itchy & Scratchy comment was just trying to defuse this and be friendly, was just making a comment about "sick" violence being "funny" (meaning distasteful) as seen on The Simpsons. Should have just said Tom & Jerry to be clearer. Or should have just shut up and forgotten about it. So not top of your xmas card list then? I thought I'd explained that I was hasty and silly for saying that, but I imagine in your book I'm probably having street fights and bottling people outside the Castle every Friday night.
-
Not a fan of the itchy and scratchy show then? ;-) I probably shouldn't have said that, I don't like fights, I certainly don't encourage them, but I was just admitting that had I been there I probably would have smirked and thought Serves you right you idiot. Not proud, but honest.

Okay I'll stop posting on here now, but will say that chasing a bus and banging on the side and the door strikes me as the most dangerous thing described. Sorry if I've got that wrong, but that's how I read your post, in which case he was endangering everyone by distracting the driver of a large vehicle, and he easily could have hurt himself very badly. Idiot! Still, we don't know what caused the whole thing I guess.

FFS I wasn't making light, I've said several times now that he was wrong to punch him. And Sandperson I'm sure you've seen some bad driving, I just said that maybe just maybe he wasn't trying to run anyone off the road, only he knows that. And why am I the only one who seems to think the cyclist was acting like a total psycho? If he was hitting your car window with you kid in the back, I bet a few people would be less sympathetic.

I said when I first posted that tthere is no excuse for what the driver did, and the guy should be punished, but I just don't much like the tone of this thread being totally against the driver. He shouldn't have let himself get so wound up, fine. However, it sounds like he would have needed the patience of a saint not to get a bit riled by this guy. And yes blinder, had I seen someone acting in the manner of the cyclist, as described by Carolyn in her original post, get a smack, I would find it hilarious! Sorry it that makes me a terrible person. For the record, I'm not doubting a word Carolyn says, but we don't know if the bus driver was thinking to himself "I'm going to teach this guy a lesson".

I was wondering if we could get The Clockhouse to do the BBQ for us...

Edited first line for being a bit silly. As for the SLP, is this really newspaper worthy? Bloody hell, bottom of the barrell surely.

Mockney Pierz is rather street wouldn't you say? -
I'm totally with Jimbob (you are braver than I for actually saying it). Does anyone actually KNOW the driver tried to run the cyclist off the road? Doubt it! Of course the driver should not have hit the cyclist, that goes without saying, but it sounds to me very much like he was provoked, not once, but to the point the cyclist decided to chase to the next stop and carry it on, rather than just letting it lie, or taking the number plate and reporting it. Frankly, he deserved a slap! It really annoys me when I see things like; This will more than likely get me an almighty beasting from some, but some, NOT ALL(!!!!!) cyclists are much more dangerous on the roads than any bus driver, as are SOME car drivers, and definitely SOME (in fact quite a few) Hackney Cab drivers!

Zedz dead baby, zedz dead! -
Fair enough, but if I was him I'm not sure I'd want to go back to a club where I'd always been number 3, even if 1 & 2 had left. Saying that, Bent was number 4, and he seems to be doing alright now.

Favourite fried chicken it is then!

Don't think he totally lost the dressing room, Jenas just the other day (before the Madrid news) was saying what a great coach he was, but that a couple of things just didn't work out. Gossip columns are suggesting he may come in for Zokora... RE: Defoe, if memory serves, they missed the deadline last January, so he actually went on loan, and was only signed properly in the summer, so the 12 months won't be up... Could be wrong though. Why would Spurs want him back anyway? He's a decent player, but he was very much 3rd choice behind Keane & Berba, so why ggo back?
-
Will be interesting to see if any Spurs players are tempted away to Madrid by Ramos...

Hee hee, We were led by a star. Led by a bottle, you mean. Er, well, um, if you're dropping by again, do pop in. And thanks a lot for the gold and frankincense, er, but don't worry too much about the myrrh next time. All right?

Just be careful, he has a thing for burning bush, and that could leave a mark!

Bunk is great. H eand 2 or 3 other Wire actors popped up in the film "Ray" (about Ray Charles) that I watched the other night. I think 3 & 4 were my 2 fave series, really liked the way 4 kind of starts again after the big finale to 3.

Ages ago in the early days of forum drinks this was discussed, but never organised. Perhaps either the June, July or August drinks could be done at The Clockhouse on a Saturday instead of Friday, then we could have games (kickabout / rounders) and picnic on the Rye, and the pub is just opposite for pints in the sunshine. Would be nice for those with kids to be able to pop down in the afternoon if they can never get out to evening drinks. And whilst typing that last sentence, I have realised that that group may well include me, so I am pushing for this even more now! Other option would be The Dog or The Plough, which are close to Dulwich Park, but The Clockhouse actually overlooks The Rye, and I think it could be a lovely day. We can even have acoustic guitars out and get all hippy! Any thoughts? (before anyone suggests organising it seperately to the drinks, people have tried doing the picnic thing, and it hasn't really worked. Think it needs to be organised well in advance as a proper EDF summer meet... Matbe even involving a BBQ...)

Damn it, I don't meet one of those! Don't think anyone suggested having only one award, that would be silly (at this stage, can I say the "jewell in ED crown" award is a bad idea for all the reasons that having only one award would be. I know the original list was only a proposal, from that list, and other suggestions, I would chose the following awards (my aim is to actually give a useful guide to someone who has just moved to the area, and may want advise on where to go / who to use). * Best Customer Service * Best cornershop / News Agent (not sure I can think of one that is on a corner anymore) * Best place for a pint * Best bar * Best take away * Best cafe/coffee shop * Best baby/toddler group * Best Restaurant * Best Specialist Service (Dry Cleaners, Cobblers, Curtain Maker, local Photographer, Launderette etc...) One concern about this is that it could cost the non winners business, and I'm not sure how comfortable I am with that thought.
