  1. I was a few years above Scott Parker and Sean Wright-Phillips.

Good luck!
  3. Just thought, how about Jadis the White Witch from Narnia?
  4. Rolo, good call on Buffy, that was going to be my suggestion, or at least any one of the girls from Buffy (was a Faith fan myself!).
  5. I don't like it either, but have known a couple of the staff who have been lovely people. They've opened in Sydenham now too... Doubt I'll be going in, not when there are so many quality greasy spoons around!
  6. Liverpool do it for me sometimes, because we know the secret... Buy Ugly ginger foreigners like Risse, and everyone will love him like one of ours! ;-) Seriously, sometimes Liverpool show exactly that passion that is missing, and Stevie G drives them on, and that is what I love. All too often however they seem to forget passion, which is why they seem to drop points to those teams we "should beat", because those teams are scapping and showing passion. Never thought I'd say it, but I'm quite enjoying watching Sunderland fighting this season... Hate Roy Keane, but never accused him of lacking passion!
  7. "Sorry Keef - are you suggesting that Wenger doesn't nurture English players? What possible motivation would he have for that? Was Jeffers the new Henry if only Wenger had spent more time with him? It could be argued he is pushing Walcott a tad too soon because of the public demand to have English players in the team" Er no I wasn't suggesting that at all. I said "but one could argue that if Wenger had taken the time to nurture an English player, he might have produced something special. Henry was hardly a prolific striker when Arsenal bought him!" Of course Arsenal have produced some great English players, just as Man U and Liverpool have. I just said that maybe he could have found his Henry over here... I actually believe that in Walcott he might have just that (Fear n' boozing used to force me to watch Southampton games when he was there... Still think he should have stayed there another season).
  8. Not quiiite sure how to respond to that one... :-S
  9. LOL to Ladygooner's quote! >:D< Now, Atila, you are right that Henry was better than any English striker, but one could argue that if Wenger had taken the time to nurture an English player, he might have produced something special. Henry was hardly a prolific striker when Arsenal bought him! Now, I'm a bit torn on this whole debate. I'd love to see more Home grown talent at the top of the game, but like to see it mixed in with some "foreign flare". I would like to make a point to Atila though. You say things about the "authorities" putting in more money for grass routes, and the problem being "ours as a nation". From this I can only assume you mean the government should fund better facilities / coaching for kids, and that's fine. However, in the society we live in, I don't think it would make the smallest bit of difference. Once most kids are over 10, they don't want to play sports, they want to play consoles, and they want to pull girls, and they want to drink and sometimes smoke. In Brazil they don't have massive football academies, the kids play on the streets and the beaches and they get good, because it's something for them to do for fun. The teenagers here have far more interesting things to do. Maybe I'm wrong, but I suspect that's part of the problem.
  10. If this is all true... ... It's a real shame, as the ED Warehouse sounds like such a good idea (in theory, although it could be full of a load of sh!te), but if they have truly been underhanded in their actions, then they should be stopped until they've gone through the same red tape as everyone else is meant to. I see what you're saying Mark, but even if it's actually just one person, they could still have a very good point. Plus, if this was a big high street name, everyone would be up in arms, but just because it's something that we all felt excited about, doesn't mean they should be able to take the p!ss. Having said all that, Zenoria Street, it might be really nice having something like this open... Go on, be a sport ;-)
  11. I agree with Alan's earlier point about this article. He's using one evening's events to draw conclusions about an entire area, and the state of "community" in South London. Now I think the term "community" is used far too much, and I laugh my head off when people try to tell me about East Dulwich's lovely little village community feel, because it's a load of bo!!ocks. However, things like the street party that was held on Upland Road a while back, this very forum and the projects/groups that have sprung from it suggest to me that "Community" does exist. Even a group of 20 people from 10 houses on the same street getting together and doing something is a nice thing in my opinion. In some areas you're lucky to know the people that live in the flat above you, let alone your next door neighbours.
  12. I saw a thing a while ago about the Pistols, and it had this interesting thing on it. There was a band from the States with a female singer (or she may have been a solo act), and she was doing really really well over there, and was tipped to be the next huge thing. They booked her a few gigs here, and after a good start, the Sex Pistols made a comment basically slagging her and her music off at one of their gigs, and suddenly no one was at all interested in her. Just goes to show that they were way way more "main stream" than they ever would have liked to admit. Will try and dig out the details of that story... I was obviously not around at the time, but when I see any footage of them these days, I just think "what a bunch of complete turds". They remind me a lot of some of these really annoying eco warriors of today. Kind of white boys with filthy dreads, a bit middle class, showing the world how special and superior they are. F**king pricks. Ahem, sorry.

  14. The Uplands (bless it) is just a bit of a nothing really. Best description I ever heard for it was a friend saying "It's like having a beer in a cinema bar". barrymarshall Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think the dog, Clarence (?), deserves a special award for being cool. Clarence has a whole pub named after him on Balham High Road, or Hill SW12 (same road, not sure where it changes from High Road to Hill), what more does he want!? ;-) macroban Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Good to see that the Crystal Palace Tavern was voted the best pub in East Dulwich. Ha ha, exactly right! :)-D
  15. My God, a guy just wants a bit of a change... Okay okay okay, bear with me...
  16. Nothing is going to beat my last new years at an Australian Rock Festival! This year I shall just be at the CPT with certain friends who won't be here next year :(
  17. So there you go, The Bishop wins, but The Black Cherry run it really really close in the end, they must have left it just too late to start getting their mates to vote! ;-) Anyway, well done the Bishop. I don't take back anything I said, but you won fair in an open vote, so somebody loves you.

    Good work Anna! >:D
  19. "The paper reports the BBC's executive editor Karl Warner said: "She's one of the hottest acts around and an important voice of her generation." And according to the Beeb website, BBC Three controller Danny Cohen said: "She's one of the hottest acts around and an important voice of her generation." Busted! >:D<
  20. Piers having Shed Seven made me so nostalgic for Chasing Rainbows!!! And talking of Australia, I love this song. (no relation to Manning).

    Fave album cover?

Funnily enough I read a thing about that cover the other day. I it was saying how everyone has always assumed it was Mick Jagger, but that it was actually just some bloke who was doing something around the studio that day.
  22. And if dreams are like movies, then memories are films about ghosts.
  23. About 400 at the moment. Bishop looks to have run away with Black Cherry had a late surge and seems to have secured second. CPT in a respectable 3rd at the moment, guess I have to be happy with that, it's not bad at all considering the competition :)-D That said, I still can't believe The Bishop will have the title "Best Bar in East Dulwich", I would have gone for the CPT, EDT, Plough, Cheery, Inside, FHT and possibly even the Mag above The Bishop (no particular order there by the way).
