  1. I believe the UN have run out of black helicopters.
  2. What a very strange little thread!! And yes, ents are boring, but I'm pretty sure goblins are just misunderstood. Wouldn't you be a bit grumpy with such dentistry issues?.
  3. Though I can safely say I am one of those fat fingered typo laden iPhone users, it's more its insistence that "its" MUST have an apostrophe or if I'm under the weather I'm feeling "I'll" etc that tends to irk me. Other than that and poor battery life I'm very happy with my iPhone. *written on a normal keyboard for once*
  4. Is chicken OK btw?
  5. Meantime are an independent Greenwich Brewery (geddit?). I love their beers, absolutely fantastic if a little pricey. Ooh, might get a couple of bottles ot their pale ale for dinner tonight (Ganapati serve them too).
  6. Eh? Enoch left the Tories for taking us into the EC, he wasn't hounded out of anything. He continued to serve as an MP until the late 80s when his great thinking included accusing the CIA of murdering Mountbatten. Yeeeeeeesss. He lost his seat because the electorate weren't interested in what he ahd to say, not because they couldn't handle the truth or some nonsense. But nice attempt at twisting reality. I assume by great thinkers in these parts you refer to yourself? Still waiting to see those rivers of blood mind.
  7. "Do you really think the CEO's of Monsanto eat the crap they are forcing on the rest of us?" Isn't this somewhat oxymoronic? The first part suggests there's such a thing as consumer choice, the latter completely denies it, the two together smacks of paranoia frankly, big companies tend to be amoral rather than actively nefarious. Though I can just about picture the Monsanto CEO with a white cat. Hal, you almost had me at stable equilibrium, you totally lost me at gaia theory ;)
  8. Can you have an edge by a long shot?
  9. And pretty soon there will be no clowns at all and future generations will know nothing of long feet and red noses and britches.
  10. Ps even though I'm an Eco commie suit bashet, good to see Huguenot back. Apologies chair, just needed saying.

If it's good enough for Donald Trump...
  12. Alonso is obviously a wanker. Spaniards man can't stand them. Smiley serve a purpose, yes they're naff but they stop confusion and are easier than tags Paul Ince etc
  13. Alpha, while you make for interesting reading and clearly know what you are talking about, I do slightly feel that huguenot's point still stands. That entire post boiled down to your first point 'yeah but no but' ;)

You moos are tirelessly unwrong, it just goes without saying, but for once I'm happy to break ranks and raise a proverbial glass to you! Chopped liver indeed, perish my dear, perish that thought.

Indeed HB (horsebox, though honaloochieB is not unright either)
  16. 3 for 1. It's like an England cricket score

Yes. It's Friday and I'm in an office. Can we change the subject please?
  18. I will definitely watch the wrestler. I thought waltz with bashir was excellent. I know it's a touchy subject and got panned from both sides of the politic fence, but as a documentary on war's trauma and a human yen for answers it is just amazing. Quietly powerful.
  19. Nice to see it's not all doom and gloom. Cheers alpha.

I reckon the hotter the country.... Mexicans seem to know their lager onions

I'm partial to a cold crisp lager on a hot day, but can any lager attain greatness? Its job is to he refreshing whilst being unobtrusive. If it has character it fails it's primary task?
  22. " just like telling your partner you've cheated on them: it may feel like you're assuaging your guilt but really you're just selfishly upsetting people" brilliant!!
  23. 'A lot of the acitivity in the city is/was sound.' totally agree jeremy. Banking, whether retail or investment, serves a very real and useful purpose I'd love to see it go back to the models of sound investment and common sense. This will preclude any 'roaring' however and certainly won't be a driver for growth and recovery. It will make sense in the long term though.
  24. Spain is pumping money into wind and solar power. Drive from Madrid to Zaragoza and there are some pretty impressive sights on the way. And that solar steam power station is very cool. I think you're right there should be more investment within Europe, but it might come to a point that chad and Niger etc are where it's at.
  25. Brilliant. So ?2 billion out of education for starters is middle class angst? You've already said finance is all we have to offer, I'm not denyin it but that's not a situation we has to accept. As I've said before we have many challenges ahead and the key to meeting those is education. And now that's being scuppered thanks to the banks. Biting the hand that feeds us? Don't make me laugh!! As for Alpha's tremendous insight, none of it comes within an inh of the debt burdened. Just because a bubble makes money and contributes to the coffers doesn't make it a good idea, if it quacks like a duck....
