  1. Can the OP change the title? It's not tonight anymore... Meanwhile I LOVED what they did. Just could not believe that plot of land cost nearly ?1m!
  2. And PLEASE don't forget to always report crimes no matter your opinion of the police. Even if you think they won't do anything, if people do not report crimes then the government can say "There's no crimes! Let's reduce the fuding for police!" On a related matter, I am applying for a CleanerGreenerSafer Award funding. Near me are several designated motorcycle bays but they are lacking rails with which to attach D-locks to. (Ground Anchors are all very well but people with D-Locks can't use them easily if at all.) The local councillor says that you can apply for ground anchors. But I am applying for CGS funding so that the designated motorcycle bays can be made safer for bikers. Apply for them!
  3. I often develop a hard slightly painful lump under the skin after my flu jab (I have pre existing condition) but this year did not get one. Yay! Totally agree with advice above, from blahblah. And I think we in this country are so very lucky to get this service free.
  4. Oh that is so sad. She has contributed muchly. Also hope she beats it.
  5. Can we all contribute? Drs Roe, Iu, Ackland, and the others at the Nunhead Surgery. And the team who work at Peckham Rye Park to make it look as fab as it does, as well as the volunteers who work in the Community Wildlife Garden ;)
  6. I don't buy mine on line but I can happily recommend seeing (should you wish to travel that far) the lovely Charlotte who is the manager and contact lens expert, who was at Lewisham and is now at Holborn branch of Boots Opticians. I followed her up there as it were, when she moved, as I am so impressed with her attention to detail and care. Also, I am a loyal kind of person and believe that continuity of care is important.
  7. I would also recommend joining LAS 2000 a voluntary organisation that will help and support when the council rips you off on overcharging and for charging for things they should not be doing. Google them for address.
  8. Not just one but two of them aged about 9 and 11, on bicycles, up Peckham Rye, carefully cycling on the pavement, and not only did they see someone coming towards them but they STOPPED till the pedestrian had passed! Then if that wasn't enough they wanted to cross the road! They actually got off their bicycles at this point! Can you imagine. Did they just stroll across amongst all the traffic all dangerous and scary like? Did they heck! NO! They walked the extra couple of yards and actually waited for the cars to stop at the zebra crossing! And they had to wait ages because car drivers can be evil and nasty, stupid and mean, of course. Yet when the traffic did stop - did our pesky evil selfish mean and thoughtless kids crawl across with their bicycles? NO! They walked swiftly across AND EACH OF THEM THANKED BOTH CARS EITHER SIDE FOR HAVING STOPPED FOR THEM! I tell you, kids today, etc and so on. Their parents should be told of this. There were no supervising adults in sight. I was shocked.
  9. Best thread for ages. Keep having images of massive fat cat licking its lips as it thuds up the street demanding food from every house and passerby. Images of a kid tying another note on the cat saying, "Ignore previous message, I have a medical condition that makes me fat. Feed me NOW!"
  10. I also am sorry to read this. I also use a helmet cam. However, they only record the direction at which they point. If someone comes and gets you from behind, as it were, well then you need two helmet cams..... Hope you find witnesses. Having said that if they didn't stop for you then..... Best wishes.
  11. Sh! I'm baking! Getting real hot in my kitchen I tell ya!
  12. Leaseholders Association of Southwark (LAS2000) have saved us leaseholders gazillions over the years by their vigilant work. Thanks for this link I shall look later!
  13. I did not know powders lost their flavour over time. I had better get cooking a LOT. Kahns Bargains is my fave shop!
  14. Maybe but I believe we are all we have. So we has better try and look after one other because we can't rely on state organisations to do it for us. Not suggesting vigilantism though!
  15. Look. just making a suggestion ok?
  16. I would suggest we ALL be proactive, look on the Southwark website for the phone number of our local Safer Neighbourhood Teams and put that number in our phones. In my experience the SNTs are very active and aware of what is going on. On occasions I have had to call they do turn up. Not always immediately but then they're not 999! The SNT reads EDF and they also host meetings every two months. Ours in Nunhead and Peckham Rye is at the Waverly pub. I think if there is nothing we can do about the cuts and changes, then we can at least be proactive to learn how we CAN contact them when we need.
  17. In Nunhead I am sure I saw a part time job offered in one of the shops on Evelina Road. It may have been Ayres or Kristals.
  18. I am with Co-op (crap interest rates all round and of course part owned now by Hedge Funders I believe). The nearest bank is in Lewisham (or Russell Square) but you can access them via the Post Office. Believe it or not the work I do (self employed) pays me in cheques! So I can pay them in at the post office. Secondly, I also bank with Nationwide, but of course agree with your sentiments. I would suggest staying put but if you find a sensible worthwhile alternative let us ALL know please!
  19. He's lost something and we have it safe.
  20. It is not unclear or nonsense. The question was reasonable and the answer correct. The section under question is a give way. :D
  21. I would also recommend using a Broker. They often get lower rates from companies.
  22. They were great! Sorry to all animals scared out of their fur. But still love fireworks. Sorry.
  23. As the one or two of all those of you who could turn up to your local Safer Neighbourhood Team meetings will know, the police exercise discretion on this and many other matters where discretion is a common sense thing to use.
  24. SiouxsieSioux did you forget what you were going to say once you had copied my post? Lol x
