Hahhahahhahhhahahahahahaha oh that's funny. Most of my furniture is homemade. Does that count? No wait, I don't want camera crews in my flat! Though the Bond film producers did recently pay a hell of a lot of money to someone who let them film in their house and they knocked a chunk out a wall and made a mess. Yeah, come on in!

Forest Hill Road Coffee Shop - Now Open
PeckhamRose replied to demery's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I just had two delicious big cups of coffee (nice clean coffee machine) and home made bread (ok breadmachine) toast with vegemite. What is all this fuss about paying loads of money in warm OR cold cafes when you can buy machines and have breakfast in the warm comfort of your own home with a cat purring in your ear in bed. Pahhhh -

Horrendous behaviour by 176 bus driver
PeckhamRose replied to boswell's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Could have been dangerous, specially if she was a little drunk. Or tired, or prone to asthma unable to walk that far. Or something. Ultimately the bus driver was out of order. -
OK - what's raw chocolate? The beans? Or do you mean flavour-sugar-milk-free chocolate? (Reminds me of a coffee shop in USA I went to - a coffee called "What's the point". Caffeinne-free fat-free-milk coffee!)

Just to remind folks, the reason why Boris allowed motorcycles to ride in TfL bus lanes is because over the last 2 years or so an experiment has been going on, on A13, A23 and A41 to do just that. Whilst the results of the test were not widely publicised, it did show that there was no greater risk to cyclists, and just as importantly, bikers were thus safer and less accidents occurred as a result. Ken saw this result, sh@ himself, and gave in to the Cycling lobby. The report was suppressed, though leaked. Boris, however, has a slightly more analytical mind and is (so far and we hope forever more) refusing to be swerved by lobbyists (such as Green Party Assembly Member Jenny Jones whose in depth analytical argument against this measure was, "Bikes are scary for us"). Hence we are allowed in TfL bus lanes. I did not vote him in. But I disagreed with the idea of the congestion charge running to Ken and Chelsea, and disagreed with bendy busses on our small roads as they are a danger for cyclists and bikers. So I have to concur that so far he's doing all right. But I do believe he has agreed a whole load of financial cut backs though I know not who or what will be affected by that.

It's not another round of bus driver bashing. It's a post against a human being in a responsible job where he could have helped another human being. He didn't. And I hope you post the result / reply to your complaint to the bus company. -
Adrian Lester. Marc Warren would be great tho. And yes, Michael Sheen would be a bit like Sylvester McCoy, I think, but he'd be good.

It's a good point to make, microbite, and I was not impressed by Chav's reaction, although the points she makes are valid b ut out of context. I applaud RosieH's point and echo it. We hear of the rare occasions when innocent people trying tobreak up a fight are themselves killed or attacked. But it is rare. I just abhor bullying and will without thinking (and that might be my downfall) do anything to try and stop it when I see it. -
anyone having problems with royal mail sorting office?
PeckhamRose replied to sibbers1's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
What a terribly story. I hope you are making a separate claim for compensation for each and every item missing. I am on SE15 side of the park and our regular postie is delightful but tells us dreadful stories of how the Royal mail are treating its staff. No overtime. Yet they're expected to deliver items within a certain very unrealistic timeframe. And even worse - Royal Mail pays its CASUAL workers MORE than the regular staff. I have to use Special Delivery service a lot to a company who uses it also to send to me. I estimate one in four of those packages does not get delivered the next day, I sometimes wait one or even two days for the important package to arrive. I make claims and get the postage back, but basically, the service for all really sucks. I would most definitely recommend taking your grievances to the Manager of SE22 sorting office and also taking it further if necessary. All the relevant info can be found on the claim form which you can get from a Post office. -

I was on the free bus the other day and as it turned the corner (just managed), it arrived at a bus stop and TfL folk came on accompanied by 2 police officers per door. Caught five scoundrels, too. How smug were we that day. -
I have put an ask in the other thread for recommendations of an independent gas boiler service person simply because the company that do our block are now asking for a ?30 service charge. Cheeky s0ds! But the biggest bug bear is when I book a theatre ticket and they want extra for a debit card payment (I don't even have a credit card), yet when I pay for things by cash at box office or shops and so on, they won't give me a discount! I'm tight me, but perfectly reasonable and fair... ;)

The point is that if you looked, and saw what you were looking at, and then made your brain register what you were seeing of what you were looking at, you'd see (and hear, if you don't have your Radio/Phone/iPod on loud) me coming. I don't become invisible even in the dark when I cross your path. The lights are still on shining in front of me. Wasn't there a previous BorisWatch thread?

The perfect Date for women over 30 ? (no 2 in a series of 4)
PeckhamRose replied to LuvPeckham's topic in The Lounge
Sorry about ignoring much of original list. I made my own. Guilty as charged. I also agree tall sensitive types are prevalent. I need to add Gene Hackman to the list circa the eighties. He had a way of looking at his leading women as if he reeeally meant it. And Mark Strong, any day of the week. -

So when I was a kid being attacked by other girls surrounding me, terrified out of my skin and fearing getting knifed, there you were wishing I would be quiet and locked up because my attackers around me were making such a noise and you assumed I was one of them because their screams were drowning out my screams for help. Thanks. -
Crown Insurance. Egham. Richard Agar. Can't fault 'im. I never do the price comparison sites. I ask him. He will tell you if he knows he can't undercut someone else's prices.

David Duchovny, specially since I heard he had gone to a sex clinic.... Sally Rogers who plays Jo Masters in The Bill (to satisfy that side of my curiosity...) Pierce Brosnan but mainly for the character in The Thomas Crown Affair. Renee Russo (for the same reason as Sally Masters!) I've always had a soft spot for Tim Roth. And.... (blushing profusely) Richard Gere since his hair went grey. AND.... Roger Waters (who sometimes looks like Richard Gere). Yeah, and George Clooney. MrRose looks a bit like him sometimes; certainly his eyes. And I always fancied Richard Dreyfuss when he was about 40 to 50. Michael Keaton. Anthony Hopkins at the time of the films Magic and Elephant Man. Tony Curtis at the time of The Persuaders. And curiously, Michael Mansfield QC. -
Andy Partridge of my fave band ever XTC wrote a line in a song "... walking into London smelling like a Peckham Rose." http://website.lineone.net/~ssleightholm/dict/lyrics/apple.htm My fave Gran was called Rose. And I live in Peckham. And so that's me.

J K Ayres in Nunhead. Tho they don't do organic. Having said that I don't go there anymore for bread since I got me one FABULOUS breadmaking machine from a lovely Forum member selling hers for cheap on these pages. Ohhhhhhhhhh I LOVE my breadmachine.

For the fifth time in one month, my work not arriving when my client sent it by Special Delivery which means he paid ?4 odd to make sure it gets here next day. And it hasn't. Again. And then when it does arrive and I sign my name and add "arrived a day late" postie tells me off then when I check the online thing he has also scribbled over what I wrote. I claim compensation each time but now even those are not being replied to. Lovely regular postie today tells me he has 45 mins to deliver on the estate and won't get overtime when he doesn't reach that target. Tells me there was no special delivery for me. ALSO tells me Casuals get paid more than regular post officers. This is not a petty annoyance I realise: it's a big major one.
