  2. I'm sorry to hear that. I'm just offering the other side of the coin - my own experience, and those of other people I've met, and people who have publicly posted.
  3. I'm not sure, Mike, that's not the atmosphere at the drinks generally. My guess is that if someone turns up in a friendly spirit they'd be treated in a friendly way.
  4. That's a shame dulwichdoll, lots of new posters came to the drinks on Friday and several of them posted that they had a lot of fun. There's a quite a variety of people that turn up, that's one of the things that makes it interesting.
  5. HonaloochieB, you're a shah, en esslute shah. Oh sorry - I was thinking of Terry Thomas. I do apologise.
  6. Objection - badgering the witness.
  7. You see, that's the trouble with this Forum, all this insinuation and ting. To what, exactly, are you asking Felix to put up his paw?
  8. It's slapstick for the new generation, rendered immune to shock by the incessant playing of computer games. I remember when it was all tigers round here but not now no, now you're not allowed to even say tiger apparently it's racist or something. I don't know.
  9. brum Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > No bees = no honey = no Winnie The Pooh = no > Tigger. I love Tigger so the bees can stay. Sorry Brum, TedMax killed off the tiger, so Tigger is dead meat. It's political correctness gone MAD round here, I tell you. Everyman wants the tiger but no, the PC-loving brigade doesn't approve so wham! no more tiger, never mind what the likes of you and me want oh no, not the ordinary person in the street it's just bye-bye tiger I remember when it was all jungle round here and now not a stripey cat in sight ..
  10. Have you considered Stunma? The electrifying (sorry) combination of an old lady and a zapstick.
  11. Oh come on, what about tigers? Tigers are cool. And snow leopards. They've got brilliant tails. You can't deny me a snow leopard. And just to take an assault-on-all-fronts approach what makes cats psychopaths but not dogs or foxes or indeed badgers?
  12. All cats, Ted, or just Felix catus? And what about TopCat? Surely the world is all the better for his scamptious antics? (I appear to be channeling Honaloochie this afternoon - must be the tweed jacket)
  13. Quite About suffering they were never wrong, The Old Masters; how well, they understood Its human position; how it takes place While someone else is eating or opening a window or just walking dully along; How, when the aged are reverently, passionately waiting For the miraculous birth, there always must be Children who did not specially want it to happen, skating On a pond at the edge of the wood: They never forgot That even the dreadful martyrdom must run its course Anyhow in a corner, some untidy spot Where the dogs go on with their doggy life and the torturer's horse Scratches its innocent behind on a tree. In Breughel's Icarus, for instance: how everything turns away Quite leisurely from the disaster; the ploughman may Have heard the splash, the forsaken cry, But for him it was not an important failure; the sun shone As it had to on the white legs disappearing into the green Water; and the expensive delicate ship that must have seen Something amazing, a boy falling out of the sky,
  14. Honey Ryder? Would Maple Syrup Ryder have been as delectable?
  15. Honaloochie speaketh sooth. And what would poor Rimsky-Korsakov have had to work with? You have to think these things through. Slugs, on the other hand, I could do without. I'm hoping to grow some lovely hostas later this year, and would prefer them not to look like the sandwich platter at the end of a corporate lunch.
  16. The private boat for Max didn't have MAX written on it, as it's supposed to. And Max's tail wasn't nearly bushy enough. And the wild things... well, they were a bit wrong. This is what comes of messing with books that people love. (I've just realised after a few minutes of staring into thin air that I know the entire text of that book by heart - what a waste of memory space!)
  17. Which Tesco loaf do you like, Louisa? I do like a good buy tip.
  18. Goodthinkful stuff, Brendan. *But it is all right, everything is all right, the struggle is finished. She has won the victory over herself. Moos loves Big Admin*
  19. No worries. And look the sun's shining, and everything.
  20. Dulwichdoll, if you are offended by the comment (and I can understand why) suggest you report the message to Admin.

  22. It was very nice to meet you Annie - hope to see you next month.
  23. Had a great time, and thanks to the Lodge for looking after us - a lovely venue. Also actually got off my lazy bottom for once, and met some new people who are as charming in real life as they are on the Forum. You may interpret that exactly as you wish.
