Of all the music and musicians my father forced upon our youthful ears I hated Elvis as much as I loathed the Beatles.

Crystal Palace cinema campaign - send objections to church use now
bigbadwolf replied to louisiana's topic in The Lounge
I haven't treated you with any form of condescencion, so I don't see how I've been patronising towards you Keef. I just didn't think your argument was very concise. That's all. -
Crystal Palace cinema campaign - send objections to church use now

I don't really have time to start trawling up the threads where you've started kicking and screaming, although on reflection it did seem a tad unfair. You just seem to get pretty irate when others present a better case than: "Oh I see, so you just want it to be a posh cinema. I get it now." Which is unnecesarily sarcastic and unproductive, even though I've done the same in the past. -
Captain Kirk did have the best mobile phone though. Seeing as he could get reception in any part of the universe. He never went through to voice mail either.

Yes you did just read that from me. Apart from my usual dickheadedry, you can on ocassion, see my serious side and I'm more than capable of holding my own in serious conversation. -

Keef, as per usual, your quality of argument has descended into that of a temper tantrum I'd expect from a toddler. Get a grip, you're making yourself look stupid. -
Crystal Palace cinema campaign - send objections to church use now
bigbadwolf replied to louisiana's topic in The Lounge
Apart from what a Tannery is or isn't, can I just wade in and shout my say... I personally don't really care if either a church or a cinema is built in Crystal Palace. What I would like to say though, is that I hope this thread doesn't become a poisonous slanging match between people that claim to be committed to the cause where in actual fact have simply filled out an online petition. My mum got heavily involved in the campaign to keep a swimming pool in Forest Hill and went to great lengths to make people aware of their options and rights regarding the said development. The majority, when door stepped, said that they had a great deal of interest in the pools and would get behind the struggle to maintain the presence of the facilities. When it actually came down to attending the meetings with councillors and local representitives they always found some excuse not to attend or make themselves heard leaving my mum to do all the hard work. Some even had the temerity to voice their concern over her actions on se23.com even though they'd not made any effort themselves. Basically, it's all very good saying that you want to be involved on the forum but it's another thing altogether getting involved in the actual proceedings themselves, such as attending meetings and making sure you're prepared to go head to head with your opposition. Best of luck to those that that do the above. -
"I would, but I don't want to be lectured by Whoopi Goldberg." I wouldn't want to be lectured by her either Moos. Nor would I like to drink 'synthahol' either. I've also always wondered what engaging the warp core would feel like after choking through a spliff as thick as my thumb.

Has anyone ever noticed that none of the crew of any Starfleet vessel ever went for a shit. Or even expressed the desire to go for one either. An amazing display of sexual restraint on behalf of the entire ships compliment as well. If I had counselor Troi under my command I'd be up her like a Ferret.

How dare you even suggest such smutty slander upon a trend mogul of such respected stature Hal. Dominatrix? The only unfortunates who feel the lash of DM's whip are the underlings who fail to clean all of the blood and sweat from her cuffs at the end of each day. Those young, up and coming designers don't bang their heads on the cutting table all by themselves you know.

"I have always fancied a bit of ornithology me." If, in by this you're saying you were drinking wine in The Bird In Hand then you're lucky you didn't get a glass of Ribena with a slosh of anti-freeze. Or did you?

Really Brendan? Last time I was in there 'yellowy-green' and 'oxblood' were the signs that distinguished which gender should use which toilet.

Tiny Little Things That Cause You Irrational Rage

Thank you GG. I've been ridiculing these unimaginative portals into their personality for ages now. They should be stopped. -
"They'd obviously upped their game from when I was in there, my card said 'yellowy-green' and 'oxblood'." Pack it in Hooch. You wouldn't know the wine list if it swayed across your path and threw up all over you. I remember the last time you were in the Capitol. You stomped up to the bar and banged your hammy fist on the deck demmanding a "Pint o' Diesel darlin, an a packet of 'oolaroops".

Well I'm not so sure about that Quids. Although I prefer the sinister swagger of a former KGB operative over that of a make believe double crosser. 'They've' certainly spruced the place up a bit since the removal of your hirsute cut outs from Knave, Razzle and Gash, that previously adorned the walls of the chamber of hush.

Whenever you think you've finished the washing up, you'll always discover a bloody teaspoon under the washing up bowl when you empty it!! -
Brendan I can only apologise for the slipshod and slovenly service you recieved in the Capi....er, se23 Ale house but if you point me in the direction of the offending Inn me and the peasants shall see to it's immediate torching. Both flavors indeed! Quids. I hope you catch Leprosy.

"Not so sure about Forest Hill though." Brendan, we've been through this before. Even though you've grown up in a country/colony where girl guides wear stab vests, you're still not 'savvy' enough to be supping ale in Fozzy Hill. If anything the altitude will play havoc with your balance if the shandy doesn't get to you first.

In my line of business I try to be, and you have to be, pragmatic. Apart from that, I find it pays to be cynical over naive. But within reason.

"bigbadwolk ya grammar geek douchebag fag, used any Zyclon B latley." If that's you Mike then you're making a big mistake. Douchebag? Unfortunately yes, although a lot of the time try to redeem myself, on occasion. Fag? I do smoke but I'm not homosexual. Zyklon-B? I've never come into contact with this before I'm afraid. Anyway... Mike I know you resent being locked out but can you not be so obvious in your next attempt at a journey to the other side of the wardrobe. The white witch isn't afraid of you either.

"And I thought the most shocking revelation on this thread was DM's Irish roots, I'd like to say that this revelation will not change my view of you BBW, and to date I have always been able to take your bogtrotter comments lightly. I have to say that now its a bit more tricky as it appears there is a bit of "history" to your views." Mick Mac I'm being genuinely sincere when I say I understand your reasons for bringing this up. My dad was only there for a year and when I said he had an uneventful tour, I was trying to defuse the instability of this thread that had turned volatile at my hand. I have no idea of what went on while he was there, he's never spoken about it. I have no malice against the Irish, north or south. I was messing about as usual but my foolish mishandling of a subject that cuts deep on both sides is and was irredeemably stupid. I'll probably prod the Irish again but please be assured that there is no sense of 'unfinished business' regarding my dads presence in N.Ireland under arms. I hope that clears any doubt up.

Santerme, this is just a bit of light hearted ribbing between bogmen and gobshites. Lets not have another round of the 'troubles' eh.
