The roll out ones work too, think they are 1.3m wide. Quite expensive but very easy to fit :-)

I will second the comfort comment! My daughter slept really well in her Cameleon, she was pretty much guaranteed to fall asleep in it more or less immediately she got in!

It really depends on your circumstances - size of place you live, storage, stairs to climb, use of a car, use of the bus etc Another consideration is how soon you plan to have number 2 (if at all). I went for the Bugaboo Cameleon which I really loved, that said it's quite big and doesn't fold conveniently - worked fine for us as I tend not to use the bus and live in a house where I am able to store it unfolded. I also have a car with a large boot! I also had a second car boot / holiday / bus Maclaren buggy for the odd occasions a small buggy needed. The Maclaren is great for this but I def would not have as an only or main buggy! I have recently changed to a Phil and Ted's Vibe II, had I have anticipated a 15month age gap I would have bought this at the outset! Very pleased with that so far but is much heavier given its built for 2! Choose a buggy based on what is best for your circumstances, don't worry too much about price there is a good second hand market and you can pick up a really expensive buggy in great condition at a fraction of the original cost. Good luck

My sister wasn't born until I was 7, having been an only child and one of two can definitely say having a sister is far preferable. I always said I would never have one child (by choice)as a result. I don't think being an only child is necessary lonely, that very much depends on the child and parent's concerned, I do however think that being an only child makes the "burden" of elderly or ill parents far harder. It's not just elderly parents but any family "trauma", far easier to deal with when shared. My daughter is currently an only child and adores seeing her cousins. Sad to think if she were to stay an only child her children may never have cousins/aunt's uncles. Don't agree that having children is essentially a selfish act - not entirely sure what the basis for this argument could be.

Bcg - does it make babies unwell after
ClareC replied to reren's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I waited until a month or so after my daughters 12 week injections. She had no reaction at all, not even a scar. It was the 'best' of all the jabs in that she didn't really cry. Think I would wait until at least 2 months and old enough for calpol should there be any reaction/ side effects. -
Check your contracts, they should cover this situation, although any potential breach may be permitted in this situation if there is an appropriately worded force Majeure clause.

Somebody cleared loads of the path on Goodrich today, very kind!

BTW I didn't buy the P&T's footmuff, couldnt find one anywhere and was in a quandry as to whether Ishould get 1 or 2. John Lewis do not sell them but eventually saw a display model in Mothercare, it's tiny, looks a bit like a sleeping bag! Decided against it and went for 2 Buggy snuggles instead - still waiting for them to arrive but they are lovely and thick and fit most prams including having ties at the top.

I got the P&T's Vibe 2 from this site a few weeks ago; http://www.pramworld.co.uk/ It's an actual shop (Macclesfield I think), delivery was next day by DHL and they were brilliant - also a lot cheaper that John lewis. Were def the most competitive a few weeks back. If it's the Vibe you are after, careful you don't get sold the old model, kiddicare only had the old model when I looked!

Are the paths still icy or has the new snow made them Ok again? I have an interview at 3 at LB, don't want to risk walking if icy as am pregnant but feel a bit rubbish cancelling......

Totally sympathise, I'm laid back about it during the day, was told to get on with life and not tiptoe round the baby- seems to have worked, she sleeps through the hoovering being done! weirdly I always hate it when the bell goes at night! It's ok if she is already asleep, it's callers at the crucial 7 ish that get glared at!! Ironically the last one was a chap collecting for save the children!!

I thought all ED was zone 2, my season ticket for zones 1&2 worked fine at the Heber Road stop.

An extremely heavy RSJ(?) went from our front garden! Took 3 builders to get it there so how it was taken is a mystery! Must have been determined! -
Bad nappy rashin newborn please help!
ClareC replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Metanium gets rid of nappy rash really fast, another vote here. -
Did you find anywhere good? I've cleared out my daughters clothes today. It's obscene, she is 10 months and I had a king sized bed heaped with clothes!!! All less than a year old, good quality (M&S, Monsoon, Ted Baker, Junior J, etc), most barely worn and to my shame some still with labels (including a Monsoon silk dress!). I am expecting number 2 who is a boy so in the same position as you. Don't think I'm allowed a 3rd ;-)

How important is it to be able to drive when you have a baby?
ClareC replied to Sally81's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Definitely stick with it and do your best to pass the test before baby is born! Def not necessary to drive living here but much easier when h Going out of London. To try to pass test with a small baby will be hard so if you can do it Lee baby you won't regret it! -

Ruth, your MIL sounds AMAZING :-) Your mum made me chuckle though, and sounded familiar!! I went to my parents last Sunday for lunch. I spent the whole day chasing baby 'I' who loved the fact that doors were constantly left open and that Nana and Grandad's house has lots of breakables in easy reach, drinks easily reached etc. Plus her cousins (aged 3 and 5) were there and although brilliant with her, and gentle, do need to be watched. In addition to which Nana's dog isn't 100% happy with children. My mum commented the next day that I hadn't been very nice to her ..... not helping her with the lunch preparation / clear up!! I cleared the table, not entirely sure how I was supposed to do much more than that in the circumstances but there you go!! KatsuQueen your post made me laugh, I think 6pm is definitely drink start cooking dinner time in grandparent world :-) My mum comments on how she doesnt know how we can eat so late ........... err no choice!! I also know both sides get twitchy at how late we cook dinner (once I in bed asleep) and have commented they eat far earlier at home!! -

Totally agree with this, and have thought this may be the case. It's an awkward one because I don't feel comfortable asking them to do things, but can see they may feel uncomfortable "taking over". The ideal in my mind is for them to offer which gives me an opportunity to take them up on their offer or not as the case may be. sb - From now on I am taking a leaf from your book! Will stock the fridge with beer / wine and go to bed :-) Pugwash - you seem to have the perfect balance :-) Snowboarder.... I feel for you! Love the new baby no spare bed theory :-) I am pregnant with number 2 too, MIL questioned what we would do about a bedroom for the baby if it's a boy (which it is) and they (new baby and daughter) can't share - I was perplexed, it's 4 bedroom house after all ?!??! Currently the two "spare" rooms are used as a study and guest bedroom. Clearly the guest bedroom will go!!!! Partner works from home so a study is non negotiable :-) -
Do I want a Maclaren Techno XT or XLR...??
ClareC replied to Knomester's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I was between the Techno and Quest, I erred towards Techno until my partner pointed out that the whole purpose of a second buggy was a small light buggy for holidays , boot of car and bus travel. Def look at the two together, the wheels on the Techno are much larger as is the frame, doesn't fold as small either. Happy with my Quest although def wouldn't want as an only buggy! -
Can't remember what they drink at that age, but a top tip is to not heat up/store in too greater quantitities- it's heart breaking when it goes to waste!! I used to store in 50ml quantities even though my daughter usually had more than this - that way if any went to waste it was always less than 50ml (which is still too much in my book!!) Good luck and enjoy the longer sleep. My partner and I did the same from 3 weeks, it made a huge difference!
